NOSH TV
Добавлен 6 дек 2014
This is the official Mr Food channel that brings together films and archive TV footage of the madcap muncher jumping around, being interviewed and generally banging on about grub and snacks.
His song 'And That's Before Me Tea' (heard regularly as a jingle on BBC Radio One's Steve Wright In The Afternoon) consumed the UK public's interest in 1990 to such an extent that it reached the whopping dizzy height of No.62 in the UK Charts. Lordy lordy mulligatawny!
More jingles by Mr Food such as 'The Nosh Rap', 'Margerine', and 'Runny Brie' continued to be heard on the air as Steve Wright moved to BBC Radio 2 ensuring that the greedy Geordie's nonsense continued for another fifteen years or so (dear me!).
Like one of those big, tall sandwiches in a 70s Hanna Barbera cartoon, this is all very old school entertainment. Hopefully not stale though! Arf! Arf!
So please excuse the quality of the VHS-sourced tapes and sorry for making anyone ill.

MR FOOD And That's Before Me Tea (original jingle)
This jingle was played every day for several months on BBC Radio One’s Steve Wright In The Afternoon some twenty-odd years ago!
But what WAS it all about? Well...
It's a Geordie bloke listing all the things he likes to snack upon while listening to Steve Wright’s show....with a bit of piano music going on in the background.
Simple enough but it certainly caught the attention of listeners to the show at the time.
A longer version was released as a single after it was played over and over at a Radio One Roadshow in Eldon Square, Newcastle to an enthusiastic crowd of Geordies who clapped and sang along with it.
This is the hard-to-find original jingle version.
Performed and written by Dave Sande...

Love Mr. Food. Who is running this channel?
Sorry for the long delay in answering! I uploaded all the archive material relevant to Mr Food several years ago. As it's complete, I've focussed on my other two RUclips channels. There's more archive material related to ALL the jingles we did for SW here.... www.youtube.com/@davidsanderson5918
Got that onn7" single loved it then still love it now
Cheers mate. 👍
Mr Food has an album available under his actual name. Wonderful and the presentation of the vinyl alone is fantastic.
That was the B-side version, the A-side is almost exactly the same apart from he says ”when Steve wright’s on the radio I’m happy as can be”
You're quite right. We needed two versions with the A Side for general airplay leaving out the DJ's name.
I had to listen to this following Steve’s departure from his afternoon show 😢
Brilliant. Steve Wright in the afternoon.
Have u got full show please :) I am missing this full show in my collection as I have loads and loads of hit man and her collection.
I'm afraid I haven't. I was given a copy on ye olde VHS after the event but the tape is lonnnnng gone. Sorry!
I sadly know every word and have done since it came out
I just sung it to my husband 🤣 he thought I was nuts… thank God for RUclips 🤣..
This is the music Mr Food made many years later.... ruclips.net/video/h3rSZetib68/видео.html

When Steve Wrights on the radio I'm happy as can be, Cause that's when I have lots of grub And I'll eat anything me I have mashed potatoes, steak and kidney pie with mushy peas, Bacon, sausage, onion bhaji Aye spaghetti bolognese, Egg and ham, spam, cabage egg, burger, chips and beans Taramasalata, fried tomato And that's before me tea! Which is chicken curry biryani lots of fried rice, Beef and turnip, gravy, Yorkshire pudding, lovely very nice, Toasted bread with cheese and pickle, peanut butter by the score, I suppose I'll have to run up to the shops to get some more! Always thought it was beefy stew carrots new potatoes lemon lime
@@jonnamechange6854it is beefy stew, correct.
Whay-aye Dr Sanderson! I've got indigestion and terminally high cholesterol after watching that again. Look after yourself and stay well old mate.
Weird video
That's 1990 for you. There were lots of crazy videos back then
I bought the single in Rugby, great times.
When was this?
April 1990.
@@davidsanderson5918 The man himself? Surely not! What did you do next? (OK I've seen the Nosh rap..)
@@SuperBartles Yes I'm the man himself. I was part of a team who did jingles for Steve Wright's show in the early 90s then again in the early 2000s when he went to Radio 2. Since then I've played Scrabble.
@@davidsanderson5918 Whey-aye, proper legend you mate.
Thanks for this, been looking for it for a while when it came up . Googling "Steve Wright Biryani" just delivered random curry recipes LOL. This is just fabulous.
Remember this at the time. Should've been #1 for 5 weeks.
That video took sixteen hours solid to film!
Music by Mr Food and food by Mr Music. Do you remember THAT?!?!!
Turn this off
Sorry I'm afraid it's going to be on foreverrrrrrrrrrr. 😆
Nosh nosh
Nosh Nosh!
awww this reminds me of being 16 in 1989 having just left school and working in a factory lockstitching lingerie. we used to have Radio 1 on the factory radio allday. Simon Mayo, Simon Bates our tune. good nostalgic days as a teen.👍
W T F !!!
This song made my childhood. What ever happened to Mr food. Would love to see that guy do a tour.
Simon Taylor Thanks!

Why aye man of course.
Some of those foods explode when mixed. This was more dangerous than you think Dave!
You ARE joking....aren't you, Stef?....:)
gorgeous Gerry and his sexy voice....love him so much
This was broadcast TWENTY-THREE YEARS after the jingle was first played on Steve Wright. Blimey. Not as long ago as Stewpot's 'ello darling ha ha ha'....but still.....
I wanna hear the whole thing. Awwww.
Mr Food's a bit cheeky here. Who does he think he is?
The reporter Martin Tasker emigrated to New Zealand soon after this .....true!
Is the reporter eating a sandwich....or is it a saveloy dip? Discuss.
Advance apologies to Carmen for digging up memories of her shovelling spoonfuls of caviar and semolina into some Geordie bloke’s gob.
It was boiling in there!! Great fun though.
Kenny Rogers, Pam Ayres and Scottish runner Liz McColgan were the other guests on the show that day but neither they nor the presenters (Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan) managed to partake of any of the sandwiches laid on for them in the back room. Mr Food and his greedy mates had eaten the lot much to Richard’s disgust.
This is the hard-to-find, original, fast (and best!) version that was played day after day on Steve Wright.
Sounds like Gazza's 'Fog On The Tyne' meets Queen's 'Another One Bites The Dust' meets......Sugarhiil Gang?.......maybe.
