Dram 1 of the 2024 CO Christmas Tasting

Staying sober over the holidays. Bought it and tried it earlier. Man, what a dissapointing experience. I didn't have any high expectations, but boy oh boy did it under deliver. I couldn't help but to laugh out loud from chock. My take on it; Some one, with no knowledge of what whisky tastes like, put very few spices in the wooden bucket, used for throwig water in the sauna, poured some water in it and left it over night. Then tasted it and went "Yepp, that must be what whisky taste like" and went on to bottled it and sell it.

Its my Birthday tomorrow 28 September.. been tempted to try the Peaky Blinder for a while now , i will definitely be treating myself to a bottle of PEAKY BLINDER🇿🇦

You are absolutely right about this. Unfortunately, I've just bought a bottle! Only 24 quid, but I'm still disappointed. I was confronted with two massive discounts in Waitrose: this or the Singleton 12. I had a google and quickly saw the Singleton was badly reviewed, but found some positive ones for The Loch Lomond. But you guys are right: it's flat, harsh, too dry and there's an unpleasant note in the background (that'll be the 'sweaty sock'). I'm going to have to drink this with mixers or save it for adding to stews in winter and deglazing pans. When will I learn not to stray beyond Tamnavulin, Jura and Monkey Shoulder on the discounted whiskies! Or are there other bargains out there?

Sweaty sock is exactly what I feel from Loch Lomond 10, 12 and Original. There's always a hint of soaked (rotten) wood.

Truly interesting experiment. Unique. Also very relatable. Mood, previously eaten food. Those things I know can affect taste. Of course medicine or sickness. I think there’s lots of variables. There are some whiskies that are very sensitive to these variations while others are relatively consistent. This should be researched more by reviewers. Thank you for your effort to explain this fascinating whisky mystery. Ps:I see you guys have stopped uploading videos. Hope everything is ok with you two. Appreciate I'm a year or two behind this review. I am enjoying the Bourbon cask of the Father's Day edition and am enjoying it as much as you guys seem to enjoy the sherry. A beautiful dram and I enjoyed the Northland too. Great video, looking forward to watching more.

I got this at 77 euros. Not worth it. Overpriced.

Nice affordable wee bottle this to sit and drink nightly . It's not the greatest but certainly is not bad at all. 🥃

Nicks notes are good, but I think you’ve missed a peanut note….Madeira cask whiskies do have that nutty influence. I’ve a few Firkins, and the Benrinnes and the Tullibardine are stunning. Loved the video…Slainte mhath 🥃👍

I know that it is a cliche but it was the first thing that I got from it was ‘funky’, it is different but easy drinking, I get a very clean smoke if you get what I mean, vanilla, caramel. I was very impressed with it and this is the second Loch Lomond I have had and both have been amazing quality.

Lindores is near where I live , beautiful distillery! The bottle is modelled on the shape of the pillars in the ruined Abbey.

Thanks for your honest review. Some of us are on a budget and trying to find little gems on the not so expensive end. This sort of videos help out avoiding the not so good ones.
