Jimmy Wilde vs Joe Symonds 1916-02-14
Просмотров 69 тыс.17 лет назад
Highlights of Jimmy Wilde, the greatest flyweight of all time, fighting for the British Flyweight title against Joe Symonds. Wilde was only 5 feet tall, but had a vicious punch that knocked out boxers outweighing the mighty atom by as much as 50 lbs. He was known to knockout heavyweights in booth fights. To this day, he is still regarded as one of hardest hitting punchers P4P in the history of ...
Willie Pep vs Sandy Saddler
Просмотров 123 тыс.18 лет назад
The fourth and final meeting between the two greatest ever featherweights.
These guys, for whatever reason, brought out the worst in each other.
Does this looks as advanced as 70s
Damn,my grandkids got mittens bigger than those gloves.Dont know if a lot of fighters today could go with these dudes
You're trolling the average 70s fighter was way more advanced than this whole novice era
Shouldn't this have been a no contest?
Supposed to be no contest
I would have head butted him so hard he would have fought clean \-_-/
Mafia fix
Always fight dirty \-_-/
Back in the day when you needed 150 fights to be known
The fight game wasn’t evolved enough yet. He would have gotten smashed by c class fighters today with all that wild careless lunging in he doing.no wonder his numbers are what they are. He was greatest British boxer in his time but not of all time.
Jimmy wilde one of the greatest of all time in boxing.
If pep could punch he would have been champ until he was 65 years old
94 fights without a loss. the question i think most people are asking wheres the ref???
From Hartford Connecticut..
sandy wasnt big as a toothpick
Both fighters are very dirty. Man.
Uhhh no contest???
He was knocked out by the First Filipino World Champ Pancho Villa.
Where is referee.
We do not see this stamina anymore
Lol I’m watching cartoon
What an entertaining fight! Saddler too big, strong and rough for magnificent Willie. But the "Wisp" put on a show that makes him a winner in my eyes. We miss you, Pep.
So a white boy Can get knock the fuck out 3x but in your eyes he’s a winner 😂😂😂
@@GodCarnage FU! Nothing racial about my comment. Can't I admire a truly skilled athlete without you playing the Race Card? Saddler beat Willie, but I repeat: "Willie put on show!" You, my friend, are the racist for bringing color into the conversation!
I liken Pep’s performance to Max Halloway loss against Poirier. Even in defeat Willie showed masterful boxing skills, especially when you factor in Sandy being a terrible style match up. Similar to Max v Dustin II. It was great volume striking against a bigger guy with incredible power in both hands.
Sandy was a heck of a fighter but today he'd be disqualified almost every fight. Pep could get dirty too but it is clear Saddler initiates all the dirty stuff. Basically if Saddler isn't allowed to hold the head and hit he'd never beat Pep. The key to Willie is his movement and Saddler stops that by holding that head in place. I'd say Saddler should have been DQ's in 2 of the fights. Pep won one that had a better referee, and then Saddler won the other.
there was no refer !!!!!!
went 103 fights on a win streak until he lost knocking out 100 of the 103 opponents.
My great grandmother threw him into river tawe
He is famous for knocking out men that weighed as much as 320 pounds. Grandma should consider herself lucky
like watching Charlie Chaplin's boxing scene lol
Refvis a son of bitch.
Samuels looked stronger in this fight. Bad decision by the ref. Feel for Samuels
Saddler look like he's at least a weight class above Pep tho.
Does anyone remember a great Commonwealth fighter Lennox Lewis?
Yes he was nowhere near as good as the mighty atom , Jimmy only lost 3 times in more than 140 fights so to put Lennox up against him would be no contest
+Tarmac1 Wilde participated in 151 bouts judged as "newspaper decisions" he boxed 70 rounds won 7 and lost 1 the other 143 being declared as a "no decision" he also holds the longest undefeated record in boxing history which is 104 fights unbeaten. makes today's boxer's look like school girl's.
Amazing
Saddler's stance and hand position often times reminds me of Tommy Hearns.
Look at the size difference people
This was a dirty fight but these dudes became friends after their careers...
It should spell dirtest
They fought 3 times Pep one Sddler won one .They said the 3 fights were the dirtest in Boxing History
+Thomas Mckenna Pep`s movement is like Ali`s as in the way he doesn`t bend his knees ans lightly pushes toes into canvas in order to float in a ballet style, this stops you using too much energy in your legs.
Ahahaha the end of the 5th round. I love W. Pep. Saddler was Foreman boxing coach I think.
This was my great great great uncle and im 12...... RIP Jimmy
sure
Shuuuure
Suuuuuuuure
Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure
Dont chat shit
100 years later, Jimmy Wilde would not be able to beat Chocolito or Naoya Inoue. Boxing has evolved
truth that's why when you see a best boxer of all time list you got to evaluate the fighter relatively to other Guy from his era
You sure? He fought 22 fights some years, knocked out everyone, 2 of his only 3 losses he gave up over 10 lbs to which is a big deal when its 1/10 your body weight, and the other loss was at the tail end of his career to one of the best flyweights of all time in pancho villa and he was hit after the bell by most accounts. Roman fought 6 fights at most in one year and was outweighed once by 1 lb. This was just a different era were you could find a guy like wilde giving up 20 lbs and knocking fighters out at a championship level.
metal shadow the hedgehog that's the argument, championship level was nothing back then compare to today, the boxing Olympic infrastructure was nothing and most of the pro fighter were doing part time, takes nothing away from them, in every sport the level is higher
JD Frank But if you take into consideration the natural talent and punching power Jimmy had. Under a modern trainer with today's strength and conditioning he would be a force to be reckoned with.
It all comes into perspective back then guys fought loads in 1 year big names now only fight 2-3 times a year say if your a big name contender and 2 times if your a champion due to purses nowadays, so guys back then fought a lot of opponents sometimes on short notice a lot of times a year maybe even twice in one month, back then they probably didn’t have the methods you would use nowadays but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be a absolute weapon if he fought today a small man with such huge ko power is a freak of nature
British is a collective name covering the countries that currently make up the union known as Great Britain. Every country in that union is equally great and is or should rightly be proud of itself and its contribution to the modern world. When talking about the greatest British fighter it is not nor ever intended to detract from that fighters country of birth. Ours is not the only union of nations that does this and there are many other examples. For example I am equally proud of Joe Symonds an English fighter and Jimmy Wilde a Welsh fighter. As fighters I see no difference in calling them both British while recognising their individual country of origin. As an aside my own blood line covers most of the countries that make up Great Britain and have direct relatives from all of those nations.
why don't people just say: greatest welsh fighter ? British is what ? english ? scottish? Irish? All together? If you are from Sweden you are swedish not fukin scandinavian everytime
ben bell British means...Wales, Scotland, England and Northern Ireland. The Welsh(Cymraeg) are the true Britons/or ethnic Britons, The other three are British by Law, and not culturally or historically British.
Cryer24597 What you mean, here we go? Well, it's about time somebody spoke the truth.
Cryer24597 no,Britain is a bunch of countries
+ben bell damn you're thicker than a strawberry milkshake from McDonald's
R.I.P Jimmy May 15, 1985 - March 10, 1969
Boddah died at -11, RIP 😔
Some benjamin button type shit
Jimmy Wilde is one of my greatest British fighters ever. Difficult as it is I rate him at number 2 after Ted Kid Lewis. I edge it Lewis simply because of the number of top level fighters Ted fought at so many different weights. That said we musn't forget that Jimmy was in weight terms a Light-Flyweight although that division did not exist and he fought Bantamweight and Featherweights. Regarding the World Flyweight Title. Don't believe the bullshit you may read elsewhere. The first World Flyweight Champion was Sid Smith (1913) and it passed in turn through Bill Ladbury, Percy Jones, Joe Symonds, Tancy Lee, and 'Jimmy Wilde.
What about Fitzsimmons
Langford was a savage at 5,7
jimmy wilde was one tough cookie!
Hahaha, Pep learned JUDO to learn how to better fight Saddler. This was basically an MMA fight with the amount of clincwork involved.
MZ3692 Boxing involves clinch work bro.
Wilt Chamberlain Willie was picking his ass apart until Saddler was holding and hitting
Pep is WAY dirtier in this fight haha
can you blame him? look how big he was compared to saddler ctfuu
Thabo Tshuma Willie was picking his ass apart until Saddler continuously held and hit
It's kinda strange to see a guy with such a reach and height advantage play the aggressor in a fight, but I guess that's what made Sandy special. Relentless thinman
plus he was fighting one of the slickest and trickiest fighters of all time
Boxing has evolved so much lol.
+Rada boxers were alot better back then and atheletes two
+Rada boxers were alot better back then and atheletes two
Nope, not from this era, just the enforcement of the rules.
thewelshviper Look at "Bullet" Bob Hayes who didn't even have proper shoes and ran on a fucked up track and still set the record, he'd beat Usain in any race I promise you.
For some odd reason lunatics for years said pep was the greatest defense ever and had better defense than guys in 70s-90s,yet no match shows he ever was as advanced, they watch highlights only this looks like novices
It is interesting how different styles make fights; before Willie Pep first fought Sandy Sadler, Mr. Pep thought he would have no trouble with Mr. Sadler because he had already beaten several fighters like Humberto Sierra and Phil Terranova who had previously beaten Sandy Sadler. On Oct. 10,1948 Willie Pep was KO'ed by Sandy Sadler in the 4th round, the first time in his up till then 137 fight career that Willie Pep had been stopped. It was only the second loss in Willie Pep's career, and it came at the end of a 72-0-1 streak.
