As I have relocated from Charlotte, NC to the coastal community of St. James (South of Wilmington), the flora and fauna have changed. Being used to the Barred Owl, I now have frequent encounters with a different owl that frequents the lush maritime forests of the coast. This is an early audio capture that I added images to in late December 2022.

...and be the ones.

Aww, that Red Shouldered Hawk didn't stay there in the bird bath. That Blue Jay seemed to have frightened it. Typically Blue Jays will make those territorial calls when any raptor is in a tree, but they'll stay there unless it gets dive-bombed too many times. It's interesting that only the sound caused that hawk to fly away. The Blue Jay didn't even dive bomb the hawk at all.
