Mt Olympus, Greece
Просмотров 172 месяца назад
We have been traveling around Greece and went past Mount Olympus on our way to Thessaloniki. We decided to swing back by there on our way back to Athens because I wanted to research the hike to the top. I only went to the first Refugio (hut) but it gave me a sense of what it would take to get to the top. I will have to return someday and do it.

The map on Booking.com showed the apartment was close to the ferry we were arriving on. But close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. And why does my wife's suitcase weigh more than mine and she's half my size? I have to carry BOTH of them up the stairs.

This church was made famous in the Mama Mia musical movie. I didn't see it. Is this where they got married?

This video is cool. I just bought a rice cooker from Japan. Interested in your follow up video on the testing of different voltage.

Can you share the route you took? My wife & I are camping at Morro Bay in early Nov, and she is a brand-new mtb rider so needs easy trails. Any you can recommend where we can ride to from the State Campground? TIA.
Go to www.cccmb.org/local-trail-maps and download the Morro Bay trail map. There are some easy trails east of South Bay Blvd on the southern side. Just walk the more difficult parts such as stream crossings, etc.
Lol I mean PISMO BEACH
Gary how far are u from pisbo Beach?
Not far.
@@garywilson1688 My Wife & I we're watching another RUclipsr, he showed PISMO BEACH man wat an awesome place it's Huge we didn't know bout this place. Looks like something new or they did some super big Upgrades, u think u might show us more in one of ur upcoming videos? Let us know. Aloha Jess & Eve 🤙
@@Pojo.3 Go to my channel Play List. I have one for Pismo Beach. There are 18 videos in the Play List. Mahalo.
@@garywilson1688 nice. We were wondering how R U & Family haven't seen any new posts yet. California is a beautiful place we used to visit Placerville a lot but now we're just starting at home & travel via RUclips. Any new place planning to visit and show.
@@Pojo.3 We plan on visiting Europe with our daughter. We will upload videos when we return.
I just returned from Japan and brought back a 100V Zojirushi Induction rice cooker. I took one for the team and plugged it directly into 120v. I plugged it into a watt meter, and it never exceeded its rated wattage. I am 3 batches of rice in and no problems to be found yet. Your mileage may vary!
Cool! I bought a cheap amp meter and I need to test our rice cooker. I'm thinking I will use the old one to test it's amps at the two different voltages. I suspect we probably wouldn't have any problems with our new one but since I bought the transformer already I think I will leave it set up like that. Also, we bought a Mitsubishi Toaster (the world's most expensive toaster according to the RUclips video I saw on it) and have it plugged into the transformer also. Boy, I got sucked in to spending a lot of money for mostly a couple conversation pieces!
As a newbie, which areas of Pismo should i start?
Sorry. Just saw your comment. When I filmed this they were down by the Oceano Ramp. I haven't seen anyone clamming near the Pismo Pier.
Thought you were supposed to measure as they are caught so they go back in the same hole
You bought a excillent rice cooker... Then decided ro cheap out on a pretty essential transformer to use it...
How's that?
@@garywilson1688well there are imo better ones from japan since these usualy have breakers on both sides and not fuses plus most come with a voltige meter so you can check realy quickly if the output voltage doesnt exceed the expected tolarace of +-5V Well atleast you didnt get one with the notorius suicide sockets
@@kyugiyeneku1803 No doubt there's better ones on the market and reading the voltage is interesting but I have a voltmeter and just bought an ampmeter and will make a video showing the difference (if any) between US voltage and 100V. In the end any transformer is steel and windings. I bought a larger one than I probably needed but that should ensure the transformer doesn't overheat. Buying a transformer in Japan really wasn't an option due to its weight. Lugging the rice cooker through the airport was enough. So far everything is working like it should.
How in the world is the National cooker showing time 17:29 and other LCD characters when it's not plugged in. Black magic or it has battery inside.
The National cooker does continue to show the display but the Hitachi doesn't. The Hitachi, however, does remember the time when it's unplugged. Ok, here's the reason. Remember when I talked about the Zener Diode (and I was being very simplistic because that's all my brain can process) and it charged a Capacitor? That Capacitor is like a battery. It actually stores energy. LCD display takes very little energy. That's how you can unplug the National and the LCD still displays. I don't know how long the charge in the Capacitor lasts but it's been unplugged (or the power shut off) for many hours and still displays. That's my guess anyway because it could have a battery but after 21 years you would think we would need to change the battery (and we haven't).
Sorry but your understanding of Zenner diodes is a tad wrong. Zenner diodes are NEVER used to rectify AC. When they have forward voltage Zenner diodes behave just like any other diode, allowing forward current with very little voltage drop (typically about 0.6 volts), The difference is how they handle REVERSE voltage. They will conduct reverse current to maintain their specified voltage drop. Furthermore, that reference voltage is from the positive to negative side of the diode, not across the whole circuit. In your cooker there is more likely to be a transformer followed by a bridge rectifier, followed by a voltage regulating circuit. The heating elements are likely controlled by a relay, but although the relay will be controlled by logic signals, the power it sends to the heating elements will likely be mains power. So your heating elements will proably be drawing 10% more power than their rating. (they'll probably be fine with that).
I made a simple Amp meter setup and will test the power draw on 100V and 120V in my next follow-up video. Let's see if there is a difference. Like I said, the old rice cooker lasted us this long but Hitachi is adamant that it be used on 100V only. Why do you think that is?
How sad that Panasonic is now made in China
To be fair the quality may be just fine. The management is still Japanese for the most part. But we did want something manufactured in Japan. I was in the San Francisco International Airport years ago on my way to China (I speak a little Chinese) and I started talking to this Chinese tour group as we waited to get on the plane. They seemed to enjoy talking to a white guy in their native toung. One guy bragged about how he bought some shoes made in the US as they all wanted to take something back that was made in the US. He pulled them out of the box to show me and right there was a tag that said "Made in China". When I paused and finally pointed it out to him all of his friends laughed so hard. Oh well.
@@garywilson1688 just so you know panasonic still makes made in japan rice cookers. they have a $500 one on the US panasonic website that is made in japan. the cheaper models are made in china.
fix the old cooker
We made our first batch last night. It came out perfect. No steam. And if you like your rice fluffy, it certainly was. But to be honest I guess I'm just used to the rice from the old cooker. Well, we have a fancy rice cooker to look at now. I also bought something else we are going to show you and it makes the rice cooker look like the best purchase ever.
Did you just say booster😮 that's okay I'm good😊

Gopher snakes don't have rattles, but neither do young rattle snakes so look at the shape of their head, rattle snakes head is shaped like an arrow head where the Gopher snakes head is rounded.
From the side angle I couldn't tell at first. But it became clear real quick.
No that wasn't
A rattlesnake!
A Gopher snake will roll over and make a hissing noise when it feels threatened or play Dead.
Sure. Go-pher it!!! 😂😂😂🐍
When you hear a rattle…you better scadaddle!!
That's a nope rope!!!
Be aware of several bad apple Calif State Park Rangers /Cops from Oceano to Hearst Castle ....I am all for law enforcement we need to keep the order but some take it to far and there are 2 I know of Officer " K " and " B. E " they love to write tickets any kind and all kinds . They are well known by those that work in the parks as they also have received tickets and threats of tickets from those 2 They will get you in their ticket book anyway they can it's money to them and power. All I did was drive into the campground looking for a spot to camp in the open 24 hours campground .Ranger B.E watched me drive in at 5:15 am pulled up behind me so I stopped he asked for my Drivers license and reg he ran those for 15 mins then came back and said he was going to write me a ticket for non payment of camping fees...$95 bucks...I received paperwork in the mail stating I could pay $233 and do a no show for court date which they set for 4 months off. They just hope you will be long gone and pay the big fine. They both need to be set down behind a desk with no ticket writing ability or I see a Harassment Lawsuit in their future and Calif will have to pay and that means the taxpayers...There is a shortage of Park Rangers is the only reason they still have jobs...
You say that you need to keep your eyes open, I'd suggest that you keep your ears open too !
The noise shows that it is a rattle.
Huge rattler! Beware! ⚠️
이앙기...정말 대단한 발명품이여.
I want to go back to Japan x
We are really enjoying our time here. Surprisingly relaxing even though we are free-ranging (planning day to day). For instance, today we traveled from Nojiri Lake to Toyama and had to change trains twice. At each station one of the train employees helped us buy the tickets and even walked us to the entrance and told us what platform to stand on. That has happened several times on this trip.
@@garywilson1688 I love it when they bow as they exit the train carriage!
Rattle Snake.... Deadly ⚡
Not too many people die from snake bites in this country
Rattlers are good snakes just don't pick them up or get in striking distance this one could get you from long range
I'm still having nightmares about that snake in our yard. It was right next to my foot as I was weeding and it makes this snake look like a puppy. This is the year of the rattlesnake for me.
Yes he’s making a lot of noise
Those are rattlers!!
A big rattlesnake!
Some snakes can imitate a poisonous
You need to be extremely cautious sir!!!
I'm sorry, but doesn't pulling all the "weeds" weaken the bond of the topsoil, only to quicken the erosion? That pretty little house 30 ft above you will be in your lap before you know it if it continues. Se la vie!
Yes it could but so far over 20 years of cleaning the weeds I haven't had any erosion. And that's our house up there. But as an Agricultural Engineer I do think about your point. I have been slowly terracing our hillside (real slow if you asked my wife). Anyway, it's a requirement of our fire department. If I didn't do it, they would do it and charge me.
I'm trying to build up the courage to go finish the weeding.
I was just out in my yard chopping down the weeds and I saw the biggest rattle snake I've ever seen. It's head was huge. And it was right next to me as I was chopping weeds on our 50% slope hill. I was chopping with a hoe and pulling, depending on the type of weed. Sure glad I was chopping at the time.
Yup. Gopher Snake. You should try and catch it, toss it over your shoulder and bring it home to show the family that you caught a Gopher Snake.
I lived in Santa Maria ca. And went to school in arroyo grande . I no those dunes very well
Thats a rattlesnake dude
Gopher snakes would never be that fat..lol
THIS IS A GOPHER SNAKE‼️ RATTLESNAKES COIL & START SHAKING THE ACTUAL RATTLER AT THE END OF THEIR BODY...GOPHER SNAKES HOWEVER HISS AND SHAKE THEIR BODY'S& TAIL TO MIMIC THE RATTLING SOUND. THEY DO NOT COIL UP IN DEFENSE MODE AS RATTLESNAKES DO THEY JUST WANT TO GET THE HELL AWAY. THERE ARE VIDEOS WITH BOTH ...YOU WILL LEARN THE DIFFERENCE IF YOU WATCH A FEW TIMES...BETWEEN LIVING IN ARIZONA & BEING BORN & RAISED IN LOUISIANA..I'VE BEEN AROUND BOTH MANY TIMES...YOU SHOULD ALWAYS SHOW CAUTION REGARDLESS, UNLESS YOU TRULY KNOW HOW TO HANDLE & HAVE WHAT'S NEEDED TO HANDLE IT WITHBUT IF IT'S NOT LIKELY ABLE TO REACH YOU IF YOU WERE TO PASS IT JUST LEAVE IT ALONE
We lived in Shell beach from 2011 to 2021 before leaving California. Drove out to Lopez many, many times. We never saw the lake full and spilling over. We saw it dried up to the point the boat dock could not be used. Nice to see all the water. Thanks for the video...
You're welcome. Last year they said it was the first time it overflowed in 25 years. The lake was already pretty full at the start of this rainy season so it didn't take much to get it overflowing.
