With each journey to Lightning Ridge, Australia that John makes, he becomes more obsessed with the beauty of the Black Opal that is mined there. Rather than just designing a few Black Opal pieces, he has created an entire collection of Black Opal jewelry. He has dedicated the Lightning Ridge Collection to all of his Aussie friends.

Weird. I watchedvyour video, never seen any color in your gem.
Opal was found by jack murray , first officially recorded opal miner (1902)) ,who was sacked for digging holes on his employers land (dunumbral run) 6 miles away in 1900 /01 along with 9 other men , a mr Ryan , E Bishop & 3 sons edward ,alfred , arthur. B Buckley Watty Hennesey Peter Ferguson &Brothers Mick tom jim Canfell , all digging at a field now known as old nobby in 1900/01 , first opal from Lightning Ridge sold in white cliffs in 1903 by jack murray & Nettleton came from where murray was aready working , old nobby on dunumbral run , not McDonald's which was worked in 1905.

Can't you hold the camera still??? You only had one job...
This man had zero time for the small talk, he just wanted to do what he does best, get that opal in hand and make something amazing! Those like him are so valuable to our world. They put the beauty we see in it!
Grinding technical very good 👍
Next time have a fixed camera… getting seasick with all that movement. Otherwise… Good job💪🏻😊
Stunning
Show short
Pampi still live there
What an amazing gem ! But how big is it ? Maybe if held by hand would give some perspective and how much would it cost me?
Poorly filmed and edited, couldn't hear or see half of what he was doing. Failed to show finished stone. WTH?
Good lord that's gorgeous.
That man does what I dream of. Since I saw a movie with opal for the first time about 2 years ago, I showed that this is what I need and will with my life cost what it wants. The next 2 3 years I will save up and after that I will sell everything I own and travel and take the chance but opal if I can find someone who will give me the chance and will work with me
Why didn’t you show the final polished result ?
It's definitely a LOT of work.
Why was he runnning the 2nd cut dry before the polish. Was it to keep the stone from absorbing to much water?
I haven't seen much of this opal mining on the market or how strong the market will ever be. I see that opal is more of a fashion thing. To be honest i rather invest in raw gold and silver , silver will increase with value i guess. Opal seems to be getting a little expensive selling online, and it is just steering people away.
hope your camera work has improved since this was made
Awesome video!
Why is your wheel look like it is moving ?
большая часть спермы была потеряна в саду
Мини-купер Сельский человек
Why won’t you show the end of the Opal it’s a black opal!!!,!,!,!
He hasn't eaven put the spuds up this is going to be fake sumhow
All we really saw was how to use an underground digger.....!
Wrong “maxine 2” if ya know what I mean
Wo bekommt man denn so ein Gerät um opale zu bearbeiten, und was kostet sowas?
I wish I could mine some opal but I don't like heights (flying) and I gave a good career path. But I'd like to come and mine some
The Beatles playing ❤️👍

John im commenting on your first video in hopes of you reading this. Ive been born and raised in western Australia, and it wasn't a comfortable up-bringing. Ive never truly known stability, or had my mind on one subject or another, and at 25 years old i now fully realise what i want to do. i want to build a career based in/around lightning ridge and opal. this pandemic has been horrible, and moreso for the U.S.A than here, but the isolation effects us all and recently its gotten to me in a way i cannot fix on my own.....i need to contact someone in lightening ridge, anyone, and find out how i can get involved. this gem, is completely life changing. i don't want to be rich , i don't want to be well known, but i want a chance in life, and i think the best bet i have would be there....alas, my country is in stage 6 lockdown, total isolation.....and i have no way to contact anyone....do you have any advice for me? i would really appreciate your thoughts. kind regards, Steven Reginald Briggs.
STOP Turning the camera when the stone is on the wheel..! Make me nauseous
Black opals are a million times more beautiful than diamonds. I hope to have one someday. Thanks for the great video!
waste of time this stones SUCKS
Way over priced considering its not a real gem mineral , at the end of the day you have some colored glass , lol crapola
I didn't see one single opal that whole show
That's some digger, the walls don't appear to be too hard either :) Nice setup.
Very interesting information, thanks!
lucky I had my ear plugs on
Can I have a job.
Where’s the finished stone!?!?!? Why wouldn’t you show that at the end of a 20 minute video??
The video is titled as Part 1. Part 2 is loaded on the RUclips channel .
Educational and good viewing. Thank you for sharing.
Tunnel reinforced oxygen pipes go deeper and deeper If you dig a ventilation opening from above, it will be overhead Somewhere in the stratum
Amazing craftsman, I have a new appreciation of the two opals I own, thanks for this informative film
How important the fingers and eyes of the craftsman.
