Stylish, capable and one of the best electric hatchbacks on the market - EV Talk Megane ETech Review
In the final episode of our EV Talk: The Review series motoring journalist Caroline Kidd is joined by one of Ireland's leading electric vehicle experts and enthusiasts Derek Reilly for a test of the Renault Megane E-Tech. With a cross over design offering plenty of legroom, on-board comfort, cutting edge technology, 440 litres of boot space and up to 280 miles or 450km of range, Caroline and Derek are equally impressed with Renaults follow up to the Zoe.
But does it do enough to justify it's £37,000/€42,000+ price point? Watch now to find out.

2024 quote from Perth (WA) for battery replacement for 2014 Leaf 23kWh battery - inspection $560, if batt is OK, cost is $11,000, if not OK, cost is $38,000! So assuming the battery is OK, we are looking at $11,560 for a 23kWh battery and more for later and larger batteries. Have asked Northside Nissan when batt is considered NOK and am still waiting. Is it NOK when the 96 cells show a min/max voltage difference of more than x milliVolts or SOHealth of batt is less than 50% or what? Am still waiting as I can plug in my dongle at a second-hand stealership and do this Leafspy test in ten minutes and save $560!

I'm shopping both used at the moment. One thing u didn't cover is INSURANCE. Model S is FAR more expensive to cover than the 3. I'd miss the power, room, and free super charging of the S. I do maybe 2 long road trips a year(I drove cross country USA and back last year- 5200 miles on one trip). But the 3 may have more range( I'm shopping long range version) for about the same price, and is cheaper to cover. It's more like a go cart, but less comfy....What do I do? 😫EDIT-I went with the S! P85D- an absolute monster.....I got insanely expensive insurance at the dealer. One I got the app straight, I went with tesla insurance. SO, SO much cheaper!

According to posts from October 2023 on Tesla club Sweden, people had received a message from Tesla that the free charge could be transferred to a new Tesla but for a limited time and that the free charge could be transferred to the Tesla S. Tesla X. and Tesla Y. but that the free charge would only apply as long as you owned your new Tesla. that is, whoever buys the car from you later will not get free charging on the car The requirement was that you picked up the new Tesla before the last day of the year

As a Megane E-Tech owner I can really endorse Caroline and Derek’s comments. Professionally drive a lot of EVs and to my mind the Megane hits the hot spot in terms of looks, size, comfort/refinement and quality. The tech is second only to Tesla but with the convenience of buttons, dials and switches so as not to have to access all functions from distracting sub menus on the centre screen. The downsides are the smaller central screen on rhd models in the UK and Eire and the rather dark cabin. This is a car that is crying out for a panoramic roof. And oh, can we have a recent size release button on the rear hatch.

Charging infrastructure is being improved all the time and the grid is more than sufficient to cope with the demand that increase electric vehicle usage will bring, but don't just take our word for it ruclips.net/video/LeHakmL6eEc/видео.html

Also, living in the country with the extremely poor access to services means charging would be a ridiculous fiasco. How many miles would an electric vehicle have to do before there is a carbon reduction against a diesel car? Where does the minerals for the batteries come from? Nice video, I'd appreciated more feedback about how's driving it. I've had the GT-Line S for the past 5 months and driven it abroad for long trips. Despite the initial "fear" of not finding enough charging points on the route, I can only say that I'm completely delighted with the car. It invites you to keep driving 🙂 It's clear that we need a better charging infrastructure... however with a bit of planning before starting the trip, you won't have any issue. What I would really highlight is the COST of charging in the route. Charging at home, you will have big savings versus a diesel/petrol car. But when you have to charge on fast chargers along the route, prices go anywhere from 0.56€/kWh to above 1€/kWh, which (is abusive and) makes it more expensive than travelling with an ICE car. BTW, the title of the video is a bit misleading, as you're reviewing the "KIA EV6 GT", not the "KIA EV6 GT Line" ;-)

The LEAF is going to be a classic! Some people might ridicule it for its quirky looks, but it really grows on you, and I've never thought that the LEAF was ugly in any way. The batteries unfortunately will likely be the first thing to wear out, but it's not a sudden death and more like a slow decline. But we're still talking about 15 years at least before that happens. And if the LEAF is only used as a city runabout, the short range shouldn't be too big a deal. On the plus side, it is the one EV which is relatively easy to change its battery, so simple in fact that most amateurs can do a battery swap themselves, provided they have access to a car hoist. And there is an active aftermarket scene that is re-using, sometimes rebuilding, batteries for old LEAFs to give them a new lease of life. There's even a company in New Zealand working on a liquid cooled LFP 40kWh battery pack which is being followed with great interest by a lot of LEAF owners.
