Every version is a little or lot different from the other. That's what I like so much about the song.
Such gentle compositions, a lovely voice
What's better...the seven rays or the twelve steps?
Thank you so much for sharing this amazing archive and it is timely for myself and a family that is mourning the loss of a beloved brother. Rest in Peace John.....
My condolences to you and your family, Mary <3
Heart wrenching songs. Todd's ballads are the best.
What happened to HELLO IT'S ME which came after Lord Chancellor's Nightmare Song? I first saw Todd in December of 1974. Still the best concert I ever saw.
But I think that my being would cease to be....wow
Again it would be nice to see some credit given to the person who recorded this and where you got it from ! FRANK MARINO & MAHOGANY RUSH 2002-09-28 The Odeon Cleveland, Ohio U.S.A. FRANK MARINO & MAHOGANY RUSH had now returned to the USA for the 3rd year in a row since FRANK returned from "retirement". And once again Cleveland, Ohio is treated to something special, the very 1st Live version of the song "BUDDY" in 30+ years. This song is taken from MAHOGANY RUSH's 1st release, MAXOOM from 1973!! Unfortunately FRANK MARINO & MAHOGANY RUSH would not return to the USA again until 2005. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE ARTWORK FOR THIS SHOW AND POST IT ON THIS SITE. Neither FRANK MARINO nor Myself want to see anything that resembles a bootleg of this show making it way into the "market place". PLEASE ENJOY THE MUSIC!
SHH (love) it
Wasn't this from the Philly rock station broadcast. The same one where Todd covers "All My Lovin' " by The Beatles.
WMMR or WDAS
Beyond amazing
Your videos are amazing! If you like farming or harvesting videos, I look forward to having you visit my channel to have relaxing moments together!
Thank you hippydippy !! Been a Todd fan since 72 and though i've obly seen him live few times his music will forever leave an imprint on my brainstem.😂❤❤❤❤
Jimi having fun with the power and the feedback. """Please don't blow up amps!!!" Oh no? Then I'm gonna have some fun tonight. Mid 68?
The very first time I've heard Frank play Voodoo Child. Prety damn good. And he was only 21. HippyDippy, do you know how this was recorded? Not bad considering the times. Unless it was off of TV it usually sucked. Frank loved his tube amps.
I met a guy who cleaned Bill graham's apartment. He practically starved to be there and almost played at Woodstock. Frank and those times. Who else dared played Hendrix like he did? Instead they wrote Marino robs Jimi's grave! Seriously messed up. Thanks for the post.
You the man. 1973? Alright!!!! I saw Frank 6 times. 1983 and 84 were my favorite and then he Had Enough...you know what album that's off of. Hendrix rip-off? Such a shame they put that on him. Greatly influenced? Of course. But Frank had a burden with that and when he pulled it off on Don's Rock Concert. He was in great demand. California Jam 2. I know the whole business changed. Bottom of the Barrell Blues. Check out Frank at the Park West 3/3/83. It's me yelling above all else when he hits the first note of Down, Down, Down to open the show. One of his finest. Rock on. I have the original from the guy who recorded it. But Wild Willy put it put there so that's cool.
Frank will always be known as a guitarist but he had a pretty good singing voice too; which you can hear throughout all of his recordings and live shows. He said that he learned to sing and play at the same time which is very unusual. I almost saw him in 75 at Randhurst which is, was a shopping mall but I couldn't come up with the $5. I think it was an indoor ice rink or something, but not in the mall. I got this LP in Feb. 75 and despite reading he was a Hendrix rip-off I loved it. Make my Wave is the best song but the end of Child is fantastic too as you can hear here. He should be credited for the first or one of the first that could pull Hendrix off not a copycat who raped his grave. Frank made his wave and had his own style and kicked ass with a velvet mind.
Great song and performance. Thanks for sharing.
Very cool!
Frank was still 19 here and unpolluted by the world and the road.
I saw him play this live in 1986 on the Full Circle tour in California. He pulled out a Fender Stratocaster for this particular song. Only used the guitar for one song.
Political rants are cool.
Like Clavinette blasts.
Amazing. What composition and playing!
Wow that’s truly awful.
i gave it a chance in 1974. love rest of the album
Thats' a cool photo but I don't think it's Winterland..I went there, and their were no seats on the floor
I think it's the Fillmore East by the balcony. Check out the original band of Gypsy's LP. There's a pic on the back of the album.
Tell me he is not wearing a dress
Love this. Love Todd!
Thks Hippy Dippy, I don’t think I'd heard this one before. Is that Phil Spectre beside him in this pic?
How lucky were these fans. I experienced FMMR ten times live starting in 1986. Tales of the Spanish Warrior Mahogany Rush has never played live. Not even the Frank Marino Live at the Agora DVD
I've had the original album since back when it was released and always wished the solo at the end was longer. Now here it is. Unreal!
The one the only the amazing Todd Rundgren. ❤😂❤
Yes there are many exceptional guitar players out there but nothing compares to frank style on playing.
Excellent thumbnail...Todd album era
One of the 10 greatest songs ever written in my world.
He covered it all, he’s Mr. Everything in music!
Second half you can really tell he has had some mind blowing acid trips.
Where does this version come from?
Do you guys think this is the triple single sg..I do..he retired the 61 SG
This is another amazing upload of Frank
Saying he was a master of his craft is an understatement.
Cool tune
😵💫 😶🌫 LOVE this version
sounds good!!
claudio pesavento-keyboards, vince marino-rhythm guitar, paul hardwood-bass, timm biery-drums, frank marino-vocals & lead guitar.
this must have been at Sherwood Hall. I recall Frank playing Sherwood Hall in Salinas and The Kabuki Theatre in SF and those were his only Northern California / Bay Area appearances that year.
excellent sound. thank you very much.
That's some tear jerking songs Todd /I almost had tears rolling down my face listening to these sad songs ❤
I've been listening to this runt for 50 yrs. and its been so sweet so sweet....LOVE YA TODD !!😊
