Sarah Tse is a Chinese born New York based artist, she graduated at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London in 2009. Sarah developed a unique visual language with pencil and watercolour on an unconventional surface of paper and wood. Her fantasy-themed drawings are paradoxes inspired by childhood memories, travels and dreams, producing a fragile, nostalgic, timeless and sometimes disturbing ambience. Through her sketches, Sarah manipulates the meaning and complexity of objects, changing the way the world is interpreted. Objects appear in her works are always contradictive - soft animal skin complement ceramic tea cups, modern buildings are juxtaposed with old telephones, living plants are compared with man-made machines. Sarah has exhibited in cities such as New York, London,Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing, Seoul, Singapore, Taipei, Hong Kong, etc.

Strange image. Nice demonstration overall. (I just found another of my etchings acquired by another museum). Intaglio is such a wonderful process. I always get a jolt of electricity when I see a Charles Brand press. I actually met the old Brand brothers in their lower eastside workshop way back when!

@@autumnortiz6782 Hmm, that's unfortunately anti-Catholic imagery, hence the Pope hat. So, great video, but I ain't liking it! I've read too much anti-Catholic stuff, even though I'm not religious or Catholic - I just like history. Remember, most 1,000+ year old institutions have issues if you look hard enough...

I loved making these in school, they were a lot of fun. For some reason, the image here really gave me Blade Runner vibes, I guess because of the owl and pyramid, very nice.

I really like the image on the plate Sarah - I am surprised you still use mineral spirit to remove the etching hard ground. You can now get environmentally safer things to do this such as "Zest it" as a replacement for turpentine and similar solvents.
PLEASE NOTE - you can 'degrease' your metal plate using cream cleaner (Jif is one brand that springs to mind) the stuff that is used to clean sinks and baths. You can squirt that onto your plate and give it a good rub with a cloth, then rinse. Add a little water to be able to manipulate the mix on the plate as you give it a good rub all over. You might need to do that 3 times until the water runs off the plate in a smooth film. I am saying this because it is NON TOXIC to your lungs or chest ...............this is much safer than using whiting and ammonia( or alcohol) . I was taught to use this process many years ago but now ....we use the JIF method. When you are in your twenties you cant be bothered and think oh I 'll just use whats here.........BUT IT DOES affect your health in the long term. I have experience of this.
JIF(aka CIF) is described as having limestone particles in it. Won't that scratch a polished plate?
