Making a phone stand from scrapwood
I wanted to make a simple phone stand or phone holder to give as gifts to my teammates at work. I was wondering how to make it more interesting, and Siri gave me this piece that her friend @viciousguitars7966 laminated for a guitar. This "scrap" was supposed to be a part of a guitar and it looked so cool! The Wenge, Maple, and Walnut stripes are really fine. It's a shame that this piece didn't actually end up as a guitar, but I thought it would make a great phone stand. This is my first upcycling woodworking project.
And it became the best lowkey and minimum stress, weekend afternoon project ever!
If you are looking for a simple and easy woodworking project idea, I highly recommend this on...

How to set up a NEW Japanese Handplane
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.21 день назад
Japanese hand planes are pretty fun to play with. I'm no Japanese handplane expert, but I filmed the process of setting up my new 60mm Japanese hand plane. I didn't give this hand plane the full make-over such as "folding the ears" or replacing the rod, but I did enough to get thin shavings and have it as a working plane for the workshop. Yes, it takes some time and effort to set it up, but I w...
Easy woodcarving for beginners: Walnut Catchall Try
Просмотров 1 тыс.Месяц назад
Pepper made a walnut catchall tray - beautifully carved, using carving gouges. Working with handtools is therapeutic, but sometimes powertools get the job done. #woodworking #woodcarving #asmrsounds #diy #handtoolwoodworking
Mortise and Tenon Table Build
Просмотров 3,8 тыс.Месяц назад
My mom asked to build her a table, and I wanted to take my woodworking to the next level by trying joinery for the first time. I pushed my limits and learned a lot buildling this table using mortise and tenon joinery. Special thanks to my teacher @squarerulefurniture for the guidance and the photos.

Japanese say sanding after planing ruins the surface & opens pores. A cleanly cut wood face severs the fibres cleanly and they close by themselves, there a giving a decent level of water protection to wood surfaces. Snd you just can't beat the cut whisper sound and gosssmer thin shavings.

Well done. The moment when you were yanking the floating tennons out in a hurry was very relatable. You have a good eye for editing.

Outstanding video. It's great to see you learning as you go. I really wish I'd had something like this when i first picked up a Japanese plane. Subbed. Also rolling a but on a chisel is such a great technique. I learned it in highschool but I've not seen someone else use it since.

I hate the fact you have to buy a plane with a blunt ass blade and have to spend the time to fix something that coulda been done before we bought it <_<

All planes need tuning, whether it's brand new or second hand.
