Be My Eyes iPhone App for the Blind Reviewed by Fields of Vision
Просмотров 39 тыс.9 лет назад
The new iPhone app- Be My Eyes reviewed by yours truly. Watch to see the sign up process and my first attempt at using this iPhone application. After reviewing the video (once my brain started functioning again), I realized that the number of users of the app is shown in thousands, so .45 means that there are an extra 450 people, not a half a person using the app. So.. yeah, I'm definitely a ma...

4:17 great video Meghan more videos on audio descriptions I am visually impaired myself I watch movies all the time with audio descriptions I looked on iTunes and the daybreak movie is available with audio descriptions so if you get it you'll be able to watch daybreak with audio descriptions again great video
Hi Megan, I really like your video on Be My Eyes, its a great video. I used it today. Thank you!
Great information. Thank you.
Just curious, what’s your visual acuity, after wearing lens correction? That daytime only restriction is an obstacle for me, because I’m extremely light sensitive.
Whst is your visual impairment
I am totally blind, and I was wondering, when we go to haunted houses on Halloween why don’t they have audio description in the haunted houses so when the audience gets scared, the audio description can tell you, what is there if it’s visual affects. Also when blind people like me, touch something in the haunted house, it should feel just as real as what the audience is seeing, but it doesn’t most of the time for example, if you wanted to touch a dead hand, instead when you touch it, you know that it’s rubber so then you feel let down and disappointed because you want to get the same scary thrill that everyone else gets and enjoying it just like all the rest and you don’t want to say out loud oh, it’s just rubber because you don’t want to spoil it for everyone else. Why can’t haunted houses use things that feel real so that way we could be scared to? Also, I’m a big fan of Halloween I love it, so when Halloween comes around, I wonder that, we can hear the scary sound effects and we can feel when somebody grabs us or jumps out at us, and that’s great, but they need to improve on the scary things we touch.
you keep it up girl I'm proud of you I was introduced to bioptic scopes back in 1984 they were very costly back then and I just could'nt afford them but I'm happy for you
01:35 @ Start Bioptics Legally blind woman about to get her driver's license By Jamey Boyum Updated: Apr. 2, 2015 at 9:34 AM GMT+10 TYLER, TX (KLTV) - She was declared legally blind and had to give up driving when she was 18-years-old. Six years later, Meagan Dodd has her learner's permit again, and is just weeks away from her driver's license thanks to the miracle of a pair of glasses called Bioptics. Stargart's Macular Dystrophy, a genetic disorder, has taken the center of her vision from her. “It really is hard to describe and I think everybody experiences it differently," Meagan explained. "For me it's a glob of these lights that kind of shimmer and I can't see through the lights." As her vision degraded, she gave up driving. Eventually she began working with Summer Tillson at The Lighthouse for the Blind in Tyler. They spoke about how bioptics may or may not work for her -- but it turned out it did. “It was a great moment," Tillson said. "You could tell how excited she was, how much of an aha moment it was that this was really happening.” Meagan sees with her peripheral vision. The bioptic glasses are kind of like a periscope and telescope combined allowing her to see four times closer, and had become very dependent on others to get around. Now, she's license to drive -- daytime only and 45 miles-per-hour speed limits -- but that's pretty much the same as access to a jet for most of us. “After starting here it completely shattered all my ideas of what blind people can and can't do, and this is one more step in the direction towards being independent,” Meagan said. Working for The Lighthouse has taken her down a road she never imagined just a few years ago. It must be called Independence Avenue. Copyright 2015 KLTV. Wonderful interview! How are the two of you doing today (after several years have passed)? I notice you haven't posted a video in about 4 years. This always makes me wonder if depression or defeatism eventually won out. Maybe you just moved on to other things too.
❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰
❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰
Thank you. I am legally blind with Retinopathy of Prematurity since birth and definitely am nervous about bioptic driving. Seriously, I'm 31 and I feel like a kid again learning to drive. I had started bioptic driving before but am now starting training up again. Great video and you inspire me to start up my own vlogs! Take care.
i got my dl when i was 34 20/200 been driving 25 years on accidents. went to renew my dl and now day time only dl so im in the prosses of getting bioptics i drive for a living and the DMV JUST dosent care hear in tahoe. what is your vision?
I have only recently discovered Netflix has a box on the screen of the description option if it is available. This is so remarkable for partially sighted such as myself and makes the movie totally accessibe and fun to watch. I hope it grows to youtube and so on as well.
Hi I am interested in bioptics but I am from Europe, is there a way to order them
When did this model of a Bioptic come out? I was prescribed one in 2009 that just had one scope implanted into one glasses cense not a piece across the while glasses frame. Is this newer?
EXCELLENT VIDEO
I Wanth To Se More Of You
What if someone have sex and asking how to do it
Wait. How do you open up the app and click the ‘get help’ button when you are blind??
Even visually impaired use smart phones. They are not less intelligent.
Deniz sincar has a video showing it used on the visually impaired side.
Thanks for sharing this. I received my bioptics last week and am adjusting to them. I was glad to hear that you were planning a ride along video but it doesn't look like that was ever posted. If it was I'd love the link to check it out. Again, thanks for sharing!
@Queen Mercy Thanks for asking! The are great! I love them. They are not required for me to drive. In Maine we can't use them to qualify for a license but once we have a license we can use them if we want to. I decided it was time to get them because my job requires travel over three counties, that's several hundred miles in Maine. While I am allowed to drive during the day I'm still not comfortable with it due to construction in the road, etc. The bioptics help me feel much more relaxed.
I’ve just downloaded it! There are now over 161000 blind users and almost 3million volunteers!!
Your laugh and smile just made my day . Hope your days going good :😊
its fun in games until someone makes someone jump off a cliff
Because he doesn't make a video of you demonstrating how he uses binoculars to drive.
I have retinitis pigmentosa as you use those binoculars to drive a vehicle I still have vision, but I cannot drive a vehicle or retinitis pigmentosa condition. I am from San Juan, Puerto Rico.
I must say, that you would have been very helpful if you hadn’t been so silly 😜. This affected the usefulness of your video and presented you as being very ignorant and annoying for me indeed.
I am legally blind in Southwest Florida, (Fort Myers). I have not been able to find a low vision spdcialist here. I would love to try biotics. Plrase let me jnow how to proceed. Thank tou.
What is it like looking through those glasses? I think it's like looking through binoculars. Correct me if I'm wrong.
85% blind community in India are you using this app
Can you make a video of blind people at a job interview using Be My Eyes? Real talk.
you look pretty with those bioptics
I have Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis as well as Uveitis and in January of 2018 I developed an Iritis. 💚❤️💚❤️💚❤️ ❤️💚❤️💚❤️💚 I also have a long history of disabilities like Cerebral Palsy and Retinopathy Of Prematurity and shunts. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 In 2008 I had surgery on my left hip because of hip displasa. In 2014 I was diagnosed with Osteonicrosis and Osteoarthritis. In 2016 I had to have my right hip replaced. 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 I've been through over 50 brain surgeries and a lot more but I am doing great today. ❤️💜💙💚
So you need peripheral vision to use these?
Cool 🖤💜🖤💜 You never know when your missing out on something exciting. 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 Everyone has something they have to be happy about. Safety is a huge problem and if I personally didn't live with Vision Impairements, I would love to drive.
Interesting I haven't seen anything like those, they look pretty good. On the driving thing, if you meet the requirements then it is fine I suppose, but I don't think wearing that would be allowed in the UK, here you need a visual acuity of 6/12 corrected with glasses or contacts so I think that would exclude this device (though I know that is not relevant to you).
I doubt that you have to have an iPhone to get this app to work. Just sayin.
😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫 I don't know about that. I honestly believe that isn't true.
@@jacquelinesmith-jackson2815 you don't anymore.
I can't read these comments - The font is attrocious - probably my ZoomText or my browser's fault !
Hi Megan. I got my drivers license at the age of 36, thanks to biopics and that Texas allows driving with them. I have the same restrictions as you do plus limited to 3 miles from my house. I have optic atrophy and see about 20/200. Loved your video and thinking about doing some as well...😃😳👍🚙
Im a volunteer and I wanted to ask you if my Internet should me on so i can receive a call and notification since I'm new and i don't know. Thank you
We need Turkish video 😣
Türkçe video da yapılırsa çok iyi olur
Now theres 80,000 blind, and 1,200,000 volunteers
That's fantastic! So few apps are actually helpful, never mind helpful in an important way. I hope to get a call (signed up yesterday), but if it takes a while I'll take that as a good sign that people needing help have plenty of it!
Now there are 160,794 blind and 2,911,446 volunteers!!! Those are amazingly beautiful numbers! Almost 3 million people on-call and ready to help. There's still such good in this world.
As of right now. 239,251 blind. 4,075,495 volunteers! I see volunteers get discouraged by the lack of phone calls they receive and even some complaints in the reviews about this. And as much as I wish I could get a few calls a day, I’m way more thankful this is how it is instead of the numbers being flipped.
Amazing
So way more helpers than blind, thats awesome
I totally agree. Audio description is awesome. I wish that TV series Heard it. I mean I know the ones on Netflix do but I wish the ones on regular cable did it well.
I agree with you both that having a visual impairment does help us to learn not to judge so much based on people’s appearance.
I downloaded this app earlier today. I’m eager for my first call because I just love helping people. It warms my heart. Also, you have a beatles poster!!!! I love the beatles and i have the same poster haha.
