My name is Melanie Brauner. I'm a hand papermaker, metalsmith, artist, fiddler, and pianist. I live in a 1920s cottage in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. My jewelry line, Verso, is made from my own handmade paper, metal, dyes, and resin. I collect inspiration from nature to make my art and jewelry, I play traditional music, I collect antiques & vintage clothes, and I grow vegetables & flowers in my garden. Welcome to my little world!
If I ever mastered papermaking & metalsmithing, I'd QUIT...
If I felt like I had nothing left to learn about papermaking and metalsmithing, I'd QUIT. Thank goodness that will never happen. Both of these crafts go back thousands of years, passed down through the hands and minds of generations of artisans, so I'll never run out of techniques to learn, skills to improve.... I love feeling unsatisfied with my work. It pushes me to keep trying. To make the next thing, and the next...

Let me ask...love that you have spoken of this by the way...is aback paper the only paper that shrinks this way...like could one do this with other broken down paper fibers

it is not a Scandinavian instrument. it is a Norwegian instrument. Denmark and Sweden do not use this.
@kathrine266 it's origins are in Norway, yes! But it made its way to Denmark and Sweden as far back as the 1700s! And there are folk musicians playing it in those countries today. 😊
@@versostudiomelanie i live in norway, family in denmark and sweden. It is very much a Norwegian instrument. the folk music in Norway is very popular and big. people playing this in Denmark , sweden is not enough to say it is Scandinavian.

@versostudiomelanie yes. I watched. My friend used gold wire-as opposed to your usage- and enamel. Producing quite similar shapes and usage. Sorry if I was not clear. Nice work
