Terrible advice. Sure you can function with that little sleep but good chance you’d be functioning even better with more. No one’s killing their dreams because they sleep 7 hours and not 5 1/2 lol. Maybe some are different but I’ve found adequate sleep to be the number one determinant in my overall health and well being. I did this for a while in my 20s, would sleep for maybe 5-6 hours wake up by 3 to work out before a 5am shift. Sometimes workout again in the afternoon. I eventually burnt out.

20 years in the Navy, 13 in LE... I am retired and I am still up at 5am almost every day. Usually in bed by 9pm though... dog gets walked 3 miles every morning. Gym for weights 3-4 times a week. Just do it.

your missing the point .....he talking about the amount of sleep he needs ....if you need another hour go to bed an hour sooner. the point he's making push yourself to find the discipline to get yourself out of bed when you don't want to .... doing things you don't want to is good for developing a disciplined mind , much the same as taking cold showers
