Huddersfield Choral Society
Добавлен 27 ноя 2020
Founded in 1836, the Huddersfield Choral Society has developed an international reputation as one of the UK's leading choral societies. Our Junior Choirs were formed in 1986.
The Society's busy schedule is centred on its own subscription concert season in Huddersfield Town Hall, including its annual performances of Messiah. The choir also performs in other major concert venues in the UK and abroad, it regularly broadcasts for BBC radio and television, and has a long history of pioneering recordings.
"We strive to uphold and continually renew a proud tradition of choral singing"
Our professional colleagues are Artistic Advisor, Martyn Brabbins and Choral Director, Gregory Batsleer. Rehearsal accompanist is Daniel Gordon and deputy accompanist Malcolm Hinchliffe. Alison North MBE directs our Youth Choirs.

Donate to the Choral Society here: www.justgiving.com/huddersfieldchoral Through the hospital window she said to me she’d forgotten the name of her special tree, and forgotten the name of her favourite bird. Through the hospital window I mouthed the words: the song thrush and the mountain ash. Through the hospital window she asked again why I stood outside in the wind and rain, and said she did...
Very nice. (There are still shopping malls? I haven't been in one for decades.)
Superb!
How lovely!
Heard SA reading this on the radio today 6/12/21 and in my head I pictured an old lady with dementia succumbing to Covid alone…
So sad...but the beautiful words are lost in the music. So glad I read the poem first.
Wonderful poem but the words are lost set against the music and the video doesn’t reflect the words which are surely about loss of someone to Coronavirus who doesn’t understand what is happening to them.
Thank you
Many thanks for sharing! Do you have a minute? I posted a new song of mine on my page. As a fellow music lover, I'd love if you'd check it out. I hope you enjoy :)
An emotional experience of memories, sound and vision. Thank you.
I like your singing
Nice singing
Thank you for sharing this with us. This bit of Christmas is working fine!
Poignant
Majestic!
Such a treat to hear that recognisable delivery. And moving photographs. I long to make my return visit.
Another beautiful carol, thank you!
Brilliant and thank you!
A very moving poem. And the choir and the dancers do an excellent performance. Lovely and sad. Thank you.
A great performance and a very good poem! Thank you :)
You can read the poem in the post below the video - as for "Show more"
Enjoyable music well sung but it would be good to see the words as most are difficult to pick out. A wonderful innovation to produce live music in these difficult times. Thank you.
Can we please have subtitles, so we can appreciate the Simon Armitage poetry when listening to the songs?
