This is The Great Locomotive Chase from Robert W. Smith. The basic idea behind this song is that a train, during the civil war, was stolen. This caused some military conflict, drama, and boom! That's what this song is!

My band did this song and they used and car part
I love the snare part
being a trombone was peak for this song specifically
As a flute player, i absolutely love the part at measure 43 ❤❤ Although, the sheet music i have has a repeat at 25-51 but this video doesnt have it lol
I play trumpet 2 and it is amazing
I’m going to play this at my concert in the spring, and I’m the only tuba so this will be fun
Played this 7th grade. Nailed it.
I didn’t get to play this song, it was eight grade band, but I’m hyped to play it in 2 years
What about the repeat 😡😡
THANK YOU
No joke we are playing this exact thing for Christmas
Just started playing this for full orchestra im already obsessed
:3
This will always be my favorite song we played in Middle school. I played bass clarinet. 23 years ago. 😢😂♥️
Dude, I also currently play bass clarinet and I played this 2 years ago for middle school! It was amazing!
I played bass clarinet on this piece too, I loved this piece so much in 8th grade.😭💙
Love the trombone solo! I liked.
Where's this particular recording of the song from?
Rest in piece Robert W. Smith
The old, the fat, the ugly, the weak, the fools. The parade of the jesters and the clowns Sad…
As a trombone player, I can never get enough of 3:23 to the end. It just sounds so fucking epic, help!! 😭👌🔥💪
played this for a 7-8th grade band concert. man this song is so GOATED
We are playing this song in band and it's really fun. Everyone gets to make train noises.
My concert was yesterday and me and my fellow percussionist played drum parts and I loved the snare part but he forgot the cabasa
I’ve never heard of this throughout all my years of high school and I’m in my first year of college just now hearing this
Lol, our percussionist had to get a sledgehammer and a piece of metal - he dropped it while we were in a concert, and one of the alto saxes choked on his Reed. 💀😭
Few months ago we played this piece in a all-county band, we were supposed to have two mallet players but the other cancelled, so I was stuck playing all the mallet parts. What a workout.
I have a festival concert tomorrow and we're playing this piece cant wait I love this piece so much
nice to listen to, a nightmare to play.
I love this song! We're doing it this year and it's my favorite of all of them!
We did this in our high school concert last year. I was a sophomore trombone player, and that small trombone solo in the second half of the song just made me feel powerful. I love it when we get our small 15 second solis.
Any lyrics?
Here’s to our school Maroon and Blue our best we give you We stand and sing Our praises to you Kankakee (Rah! Rah! Rah!) I can’t remember the next few lines… Fight, fight, til victory belongs to Kan Ka Keeeee Kan ka kee Kee Ko Kan Who can? We can! Kankakee Can!
@@Cunningcreeper Thanks! After the rah, rah part, I couldn’t remember it all too 🤷♀️😂
I’m currently thinking about that “Nazi Train” scene (that hasn’t even released yet, nor shown thru official footage but) from Indiana Jones 5, in 2023.
This is a super inspirational piece of music. Nuff Said.
Played this in freshman year. Lots of fun to play.
same, except 7th grade!
@@chad21310hey we’re getting ready to play it and I’m 7th
Me too
My brother played brake drum for this piece
W piece
I played this song on euphonium in 8th grade band and even now in high school it's still tied with marzo zingarro as my favorite piece I have ever played, I still remember banging out a 2 octaves above staff Bb on the "pick a note" sections. The end of year concert when we played this song was the greatest show of my life.
Horn part is lit the best
fr this was my favorite piece as a hornist in school even though i messed up the solo the first time i played it
I played bass clarinet and it was awesome
I play the French horn and I just wanna say I love that one part where the French horns have the melody. This piece is great!
I play horn too and I totally agree! It's so good and I love to play it!!
same same!
I have a concert that I’m playing this song I’m so excited my high school band has been practicing for a lot of weeks

This is going to be a song in our concert tomorrow I'm so hyped to play the bass drum for this
same bro😺
I play snare and I love it
I remember playing this in middle school and man would a trigger have made this much easier lmao
I was so close to playing this, but right before the contest came covid😩
Same
I'm sorry to hear that
I listened to “As Summer Was Just Beginning” and it made me look back at my calm pieces from my festivals. This was probably the most powerful piece I’ve played in 8 years. How my long journey has come close to an end… #Classof2022
Thats pretty crazy, we played both of those pieces as well and I was class of 2021
Omg i got a solo on the Eb clarinet and i enjoyed every second of it! This piece will always have a special place in my heart.
the best part is my band didn’t have an anvil so we used a rusty break drum and a hammer
My sister and brother are playing this today
Whenever someone asks me what my favorite band piece I played was, it will always be “The Great Locomotive Chase”
Sloth
How about arabesque?
Sams bro
Mines abrahms pursuit but this is a close second
