What are you talking about? Texas alone mentioned it 21 times in their state legislature. The Vice President, Alexander Stephens, stated himself in his own famous cornerstone speech in no uncertain terms that not only was this about slavery but affirming the superiority of the white race. If only the Confederacy had agreed to the one British condition it had demanded to take sides with them the may have been a more just outcome for the South or victory. The Abolishment of Slavery. Let us not forget the North/Lincoln/Congress only added the anti slavery bill after the war had started as a footer note once the British offer to the Confederacy was discovered.
