The After Burner Deluxe Restoration Overview
Here's my Deluxe and an Upright and I've only got one working board between them. The board was repaired and upgraded to the Enhanced version of the game as previously seen on this channel. The monitor in the 20" was rejuvenated and chassis repaired (still working on the chassis though). Upright monitor has horizontal collapse at the moment.
Deluxe has:
All plastics in good shape
All electronics
Monitor
Deluxe needs:
New carpet
New floor mats
Cleaning, painting, wood repair
New Art
Paint everywhere
Pitch motor and wheels
Wiring harnesses rewired
Upright has:
All plastics in good shape
Most electronics
Upright needs:
Monitor repair
Side art
Main board (smartypi candidate!)

NOTE: This is only a partial repair, PCM sound was functional before replacing the chip. Most sources online say you'll need a jumper to burn this chip. Even the guide for the Enhanced upgrade says to use a jumper. Your mileage may vary! ...

Any updates about the machine?
None at all unfortunately! Been too busy working. Also the pitch motor source has completely dried up, and without that this whole project becomes a paperweight. So that's the biggest issue at the moment.
Just found your channel. You deserve more views for restoring a huge After Burner Deluxe cabinet. There are almost no arcade RUclips channels that fix deluxe cabinets. Most channels only fix upright cabinets and complain the Deluxe cabinets are too big. Keep up the good work. I will be following this series and keeping an eye on your progress. Have a nice day.
Hey thanks for watching! Video uploads are an afterthought mostly as I'm not great with this sort of thing. Most of the documentation is happening over on the KLOV forum, some things make more sense in video form though. Like you, I too found the Deluxe machines weren't very well documented so I'm doing my part to contribute to the preservation of these machines.

Just small update video every so often. Even just you holding the camera and talking would be appreciated. Nothing fancy is needed. Showing your work here on RUclips exposes a lot of new people to the hobby. I actually discovered arcade restoration and repair through RUclips. Keep up the good work and have a nice day.
