Surah An-Nisa (4:48): “Indeed, Allah does not forgive associating others with Him in worship, but He forgives anything else of whoever He wills. And whoever associates others with Allah has certainly fabricated a tremendous sin.” Surah An-Nisa (4:116): “Indeed, Allah does not forgive associating others with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly gone far astray.” These verses clearly indicate that Allah may forgive any sin except shirk unless the person repents sincerely before death. Surah Aal-e-Imran (3:19): “Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam. And those who were given the Scripture did not differ except after knowledge had come to them-out of mutual envy. And whoever disbelieves in the signs of Allah, then indeed, Allah is swift in [taking] account.” Surah Aal-e-Imran (3:85): “And whoever desires other than Islam as religion-never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.” These verses emphasize that Islam is the only religion recognized and accepted by Allah. Surah Aal-e-Imran (3:102): “O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him].” This verse commands believers to live their lives in submission to Allah and ensure they die in a state of Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever dies while associating anything with Allah in worship will enter the Fire.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 1238; Sahih Muslim, Hadith 93) This Hadith reinforces the Quranic message that shirk is an unforgivable sin unless the individual repents before death.

Sura Baqarah 200 …And among the people is he who says, "Our Lord, give us in this world," and he will have in the Hereafter no share. 202 But among them is he who says, "Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire." 202 Those will have a share of what they have earned, and Allah is swift in account.

Even being hopeful of divine help from anyone other than Allah is Shirk. These verses underline that placing hope or seeking divine assistance from anyone other than Allah is a form of shirk. Surah Al-Fatihah (1:5): “It is You we worship and You we ask for help.” Surah Yunus (10:106): “And do not invoke besides Allah that which neither benefits you nor harms you, for if you did, then indeed you would be of the wrongdoers.” 17:56 Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Invoke those you claim ˹to be divine˺1 besides Him-they do not have the power to undo harm from you or transfer it ˹to someone else˺.” 17:57 ˹Even˺ the closest ˹to Allah˺ of those invoked would be seeking a way to their Lord, hoping for His mercy, and fearing His punishment. Indeed, your Lord’s torment is fearsome.
