Hey Camille! I'm applying to Spelman this fall. Is it worth the money and experience for a prospective student out of state?
Hi! For me, Spelman was one of the best decisions I made. It is definitely worth the investment. However, I do not encourage putting yourself in a major financial strain. Please start looking at outside scholarships NOW! While Spelman does award scholarships, it is competitive. BUT, it is NOT impossible. I was able to support my college finances with outside and institutional scholarships. Keep going and keep applying :). Do not let thw no's deter you. It will eventually lead to a better yes. Spelman is a special place, and it is an experience like no other. I am forever grateful that God gave me this opportunity. I hope this helps!

Can you share about how you landed a Capitol Hill internship? I'm currently looking for one :))
Hi, I applied directly on my member's website. I think that it helps when you are a constituent of the district. Also, different caucuses have programs. For example, Congressional Black Caucus has internships/fellowships. Also, you could be an intern for a committee as well. It is a separate process but will expand your reach and your chances. I hope this helps. Lastly, reach out to folks who are in positions you want and start networking. In D.C., everybody knows each other (to an extent) and people have been able to get jobs while having convos with people in person. Anything is possible. I hope this helps :)
