The same as every other civilizations. The reached the summit, then the only way is down. Sadly. but still the history of the Romans, the Greek, the Inka's and all other are still fascinating.

The world is changing , it started with WW1 and 2 and then the Afghanistan war. wouldn't you agree?

This concept is embodied in the concept of “humanism.” Cultures that welcome cross cultural synergy of ideas free of religious dogma experience progress in all areas where creativity is allowed to come to fruition, weather or not those ideas lead to peace or the tearing down of culture leading to the futility of war.
