60's Melody Guitar (La Bucanera) [Tono + Historia]

[Club & Blues] Tengo Algo Que Decirte

A brief video showing some standards I learnt. Recorded with a matched pair Rode NT5 and a Focusrite 2i4. Cheers! (You can find the standards tabs videos in my channel, many thanks to Lickbyneck for that).
GUILD Capri CE-100 '56
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.3 года назад
Such a beauty! I made this video just in the sake of Guild's history, mainly because I did not find any good quality video of this historic masterpiece. The Capri CE-100 was the main rival of the ES-175 (in this video you can see why). Round bass, low noise and crystal clear highs... What else you need? This guitar was made in 1958, and it preserves its original Franz Pickup and circuitry. I wa...

Jazzy impro 2 Sound Test (Direct Input)
I bought this and I think two more Arlen Roth videos of Joe Pass of of EBay back in the late 90’s… they were too advanced for me at the time but so thankful they’re on RUclips!
This is golden. What an artist and what a wonderful simple way to explain things.
This is what you practice when you don’t have distortion/delay/wah pedal and a whammy bar
A doctor of musicology is Dr. Pass, I'd like a prescription sir! I took the wrong kind of prescriptions for most of my life, not it's just methadone (metabolic disorder, not moral depravity), I also take levothyroxine, another metabolic disorder. I loved music and guitars so much I went to guitar making schools (acoustic and electric), but drugs ruined my life, after having an operation to save my life after being born with the most common birth defect (esophageal atresia). I was in an incubator the first few days after being sliced, fixed, put back together, and put in an incubator to try and survive - opioid used for shock and pain, which damaged my pituitary gland for life. I love music, guitars, Joe Pass, jazz, and...jazz cigarettes (hey, it's medicine!).
For the kids out there - this was part of a series of videotape guitar lessons. You inserted it into a tape player and watched it on your TV.
The only thing I understand "G" is a good for blues😂✌️
He’s so so good it’s irritating.
Great information thanks.
38:03 here, look look look😂
I'm going to burn my guitar.
Don’t blame on the guitar! Cut your fingers instead 😅
Amazing man. I really miss Joe Pass.
I love: "If you check in a music theory book, you'll see it's all correct." HA! What a Master of the Understatement.
This is a Masterclass in how to both be a “back up” player and soloist in a jazz ensemble. Incredible.
Who wanna be JP in the next life??! 😃😅👌🏼🙏🏼👏❤️🎶💯🎸
So grateful 🙏🏼♾️❤️☮️
He was very economical with his strumming hand, from the looks of it. Total respect for the man.

This is awesome teaching
amazing how he breaks it down and took the time to share a small part of his knowledge with us a true master and a great man for sharing
It’s like getting a lesson in playwriting from Shakespeare.
Yes
"music transcribed . . ." ??
insane
"I don't know theory, it confuses me." Joe Pass Honestly, that shocked the heck out of me.
what are you trying to say?
@@ldhorricks what are you insinuating? It's shocking to me that Joe Pass said in this video that theory is confusing to him. To play simply. He is a brilliant guitar player, probably one of the best to ever live. I just thought he knew more technical terms and stuff regarding music theory and how he plays and improvises. I can't explain that more simply.
Woow so cool and helpful!!! Lov this still... Great Master!!! 🎶🍀🎸
I swear the years of drugs and partying/clubs made this dude sound so chill and whatever about shit but yet still knows he’s schooling you. It’s like he’s a genius but also kinda high. Slow down joe I can’t even figure out the first chord!!! Hahahah
One of my big six. Love this master.
My idol God bless
Bravo
I love mastery, I love seeing it everywhere. It makes the world a better place!!
I bought a box of sleeveless albums at a garage sale for a $1.50 in 1980. Only a few of them were playable, namely, Virtuoso. Without really knowing why, that album was always in the play stack. Fast forward to when Rick Beato does a segment on Joe as an early inspiration and I get to re-discover him. It took me a while, but I found that album again. I replaced the needle and belt on my old Pioneer turntable and all those memories came back. Joe Pass is now back in my life. It's nice to see he is still inspiring players to this day. What a gem.
Man, that's good stuff for learning, thanks a lot for sharing all this!
Joe the maestro yeah !
Thank you you tube!
“I don’t bother with theory because it confuses me “ 🤣
Hi does anyone know which Peavey Amp Joe plays there?
😂😂😂now i hate him: 33:00 "I don't bother theory because it confuses me" hhahaha...yes, shure..... so i am a sand watch or what?
No one would be pissed off, if HE! started like: God created the earth.. ...but i created god... But he is butter smooth. I am 57. I am a fellow now, (didn't know), cause i am playing the guitar. I never heard him talking or explaining. It is an honor and a pleasure, to suck as much from this mans knowledge up as possible. His ability to play -walking bass -brushed snare -cords -solo at ones blew me away, when i saw him on RUclips the first time.
What an amazing person and video. Thanks for sharing
. 34:14 .
There is a wealth of information in every word in this video. This guy has played with every jazz legend there is and here he gives us a lesson in jazz blues but also so many other insights into how to perform live. He is speaking from years of gigging and every bit of information he gives us here contains so much practical knowledge.
Joe was a very natural musician. Most people arn't.
I hate to break it to Mr. Pass, god rest his soul, but he was a doctor, and that's okay.
Thanks Juan. Thank you for pinning, YGP!
Legend and true master of jazz Guitar! Besides being an amazing guy!
Actually learned a lot from his video in high school, still my only guitar lesson i took ever
I’d you just learned one of his solos you would be on the road to great guitar technique.
Gracias
Hello Fellow Guitarists!🤣
what guitar is that and how does it compare with a gibson E335 or whatever the number is?
The brand is Epiphone, most likely an Emperor, it's a JP's signature model. Gibson 335 has a sustain block so it plays pretty much as a solid body, you can play rock and even metal on it. This one has less sustain and doesn't take overdrive as well as 335 does because it feedbacks a lot. You could theoretically play any style on any guitar but this isn't the rocker's best choice. It's basically the closest electric cousin to an acoustic guitar in terms of overall sound.
