Maiden Flight of my electric converted Hirobo Dauphin at Helis Over Apache Pass 2019. For those wondering, the component that popped off ending the 2nd hover was found to be a bearing that was part of the starter system for the nitro engine that was previously used. Apparently it was loose and popped out in the hover.

Initial impressions are that this is a fantastic flying plane! Plenty of power and great slow speed handling. Maiden was done on low rates from the manual with 25% expo, and I still found the ailerons a bit sensitive. Next flight will be even better!

Yes funny isn't it?! The first time I heard an S-58 start I thought my ears were fooling me; I expected the typical high pitch sound of a turbine but instead got the reassuring rumble of a classic piston engine.
That's my favorite part, similar to the Ka-26 with it's twin radial engine set up

Very nice flight!What size batteries did you use and when you set your cg did you set it with the airplane right side up or upside down.
I used 6S 5800Mah 35C Roaring top batteries. CG set upside down.

What's so special about that performance. Piss poor
Rob Godden Speed was never the point of the upgrade. Climb performance was a huge improvement (unlimited vertical). Scale was the other large part, with the prop much closer to the correct diameter.

fms p47 17x10 prop?
Yes, FMS 1700mm prop in this vid. However, that prop later exploded in flight! I have since switched to a Varioprop.
@@MH53PaveLow2 Fms p 47 motor,prob17x8 and motor mount change? Is the fms 1500mm motormount and the 1700mm motormount compatible?
@@MH53PaveLow2 I upgraded my p47 like you. But I want to know why I changed the prop and wonder what exploded.
@@user-ld1mb7gc2t Yes, the mounts are compatible, you just need to insert the motor mount screws from the inside after bolting on the X mount to the plane. I wish I knew why the prop exploded as well, I just don't trust the plastic hub. For the Varioprop, I used their size 16D 4 blade hub, with the 18.6" Blades.

Warranty, and anyway thats about a 30 dollar motor. Get the Dynam Sbach 342 brushless motor, around 25 dollars, and its a beast. www.motionrc.com/products/dynam-3720-650kv-brushless-motor
This video was actually for the warranty claim. They sent me a new one about a year ago and it runs fine. I still disassembled it and ran some thin CA in between the magnets as and added safety.

makaveli956 Yes, it is lighter and more powerful. Speed and vertical performance improved significantly.
ESC timing off
Already tried that. Turned out that ESC was failing. It went completely dead a couple of weeks ago. Replaced with a YEP 150A and now it works great!
Anyone try hialfa with this yet?
How Re the working out for you. Did you buy the struts as well?

Same thing happened to my other plane before. My ESC started pulsing when it reach over 100 degree Celsius on my temperature meter. I resolved the problem by adding capacitor bank to the ESC and attached a mini fan on the ESC heat sink to cool it down.

I love that YF-23! Looking to rebuild mine and put a six axis gyro in it with alloy fans and full motion tail tailerons. Anyways good to see folks still flying the Lx Yf-23!
Wow, this flight looked to be at a leisurely speed, almost relaxing. Did you even use full power at any point during the flight? Very nice. Still waiting to maiden mine, will do so as soon as the weather improves here in the northeast.
Most of it was at low throttle, with some full throttle in the climbs. You will love the F-86, in my opinion it is one of the best flying airplanes out there. Tracks extremely well and is just a joy to fly!
Nice flying man! You using the plastic shrouded-6s 70mm 12b Freewing fans from MotionRC? They are the outrunner versions in case I'm confusing you lol. Awesome jet, almost bought it from generalhobby.com too many times to count lol.
Thanks! Yes, those are the ones. Also bought mine from general hobbies and had no issues. It is a very nice flying airplane, I just need to tone down my elevator rates a bit more.
Your flying looks pretty good to me man. She looks like she flies an awful lot like a delta, which I love! What lipo are you using for this flight? I know it says 17g's are needed but they look a lot more like 9g's... What kind did you go with?
Thanks! I ran a 6S 4400 70C Thunder power battery. The admiral 6S 4000 pro fits nicely as well. For servos, I used the stock LX 17g units all around, except for the elevators, where I used HS-85mgs. Some good quality 9g metal gear units would probably be fine though, I just had them leftover from my long gone LX F-4. You will need to get a stock LX servo for the nose steering though, otherwise it will be very difficult to fit in the nose cone.
Hi Pavel , from your video I've noticed that this model could be used even stronger engine, in the air she looks easy and without sudden loss of altitude in turns....nice.
Josip Vrandecic I am not Pavel, but it does handle the extra weight very well. Still flys like a very lightweight model despite the heavier battery and power system I am using.

I had a similar issue with an FMS P-51. I disassembled the motor and used some JB Weld to re-attach the magnet. No problems since then.
