This is perhaps the only way that Billy Joel should be consumed.
Fits so well with the nostalgic vibe of the song...
it sounds nice!
Thank you for watching!
Such a nice sound. It makes me feel young. Thanks D
It makes me happy when the sound of the piano brings you as many beautiful moments as it does me. Thank you for your visit.
Very cool song ❤❤❤❤❤
Do you happen to know the words?
@@RollaArtisprobably, but not many. I really like to listen to like Beethoven, Mozart and so on.
Sounds very good, Steffen, nice roll! Greetings Rob
@@STEMVAST Thank you for visiting and subscribing, Rob! Many greetings Steffen
I bought that roll from Julian Dyer around a year ago when he issued it as a recut. I used to have an original US issue but as I am sure you know the paper is very inferior and tears easily. There around nine Josef Hofmann rolls missing from my collection. I doubt I will find copies.
Yes, the rolls of the US is very fragile. They play well, but often break when rewinding. That's why I always roll them back by hand to protect them. Which of Hofmann's Rolls do you miss? I may have some of these in my collection. Mr Dyer could then make copies.

@@sirsamfay99 Unfortunately, I don't have any of the roles listed. A music roll dealer from Munich doesn't have it on his list either. Have you ever asked Mr. Dyer? He also has many digitized rolls that he can then punch.
@@Duo-Art Thanks for looking. I was under the impression I had to provide the digital file myself to forward to Mr Dyer which I would not know how to acquire them. I will contact him though for advice.
I heard this piano song, it’s quite famous, but it’s difficult to play it. Astonish music. ❤❤❤
This fast piece is definitely only for experienced pianists. Luckily I have the pianola...😅
@@Duo-Art Yes it is. Also I find the piano sheet of this sing too. The tittle is called "Ronado a Capriccio in G Major". I think Lang Lang the Chinese Pianist can play this piece too.
Very good music. Next time, try to use a tripod to shoot the video for this pianola.
why?
I wonder if someone has made a way to transcribe these cute little music boxes into digital midi files for convenience and longetivity of the piece!
That's the best. Thanks
Thank you for watching!
Sehr schön
Dankeschön für das Anhören. 😊
Elvis Presley - Wooden Heart
Yes, you are right! 😅
Excellent song, I think Lang Lang can play this piano song too.
very cool!!!!
What are these "rolls" and how they capture a pianist performance? What other important pianists do they have in rolls?
Hello, the playback of the music with all dynamic details was recorded on the paper rolls like a punch card. Further information about the Duo Art System can be found in the following link. Well-known pianists who made recordings included Rudolf Ganz, George Gershwin, Ignacy Jan Paderewski and many other pianists of the time. www.pianola.org/reproducing/reproducing_duo-art.cfm
I got that roll too from Julian Dyer a couple of years ago. 😊
A beautiful piece. What kind of instrument do you have? A grand piano or a piano?
@@Duo-Art 1920 Weber triple bellow electric only upright.
So almost the same instrument as mine. However, mine has a 1927 turbine to generate air.

Very nice but how about a Duo art roll!?
Hello Marc, I'll be uploading duo art shots again soon.
To fast 😅😮
Tempo is too fast
Odd, this roll (or how it's being played) is in A major, unlike the original piece
Do all your rolls seem fast at the beginning and then alow down toward the end? If so, the governor is adjusted too light.
Hello, The fact that the rolls slow down is strangely a problem with the German Hupfeld Rolls. I do not know why. I actually didn't notice that with the other roles. Do you think it's the Governor?
More effort means means more suction, so if the governor spring is too light, it will want to close, limiting the suction available to the motor. So if you know how to adjust the governor spring make it a tight stronger. Also may have to readjust the tempo when it's done.
Thats still slower than Joann Castle speed.
Played at that Tempo...I thought the piano was going to start 'smoking'!!!
It is a fast piece of music played by the fastest pianist in the world.
Duo-art used to post these as midi files. I have a player that plays midi files off of a floppy disc. Can't find either of them now. :-(
Unfortunately I don't have the option to create midi files.
Very interesting music
Wow this is great!
Thank you for watching!
i really like this :)
That pleases me! :)
Very nice Weber piano, Duo-Art expression working very well. I actually have the same Piano (under restoration) After hearing yours, it gives me even more of an incentive to finish mine.!
Thank you very much! With this music roll you can hear the expression very well. I would love if the video motivates you to finish your Duo-Art. The work is definitely worth it!
Tenuto molto bene il pianoforte 🎹 per avere tanti anni 😃
Sì, recentemente sono state effettuate riparazioni estese. Grazie per la tua visita!👋🏼😊
Liberacci played this😊
The performance of 'Right Down Santa Claus Lane' by Lawrence Cook is really stunning. Some things that stand out to me: The pianola sounds phenomenal. The warm, full-bodied sound fits perfectly with the Christmas spirit. Cook's game is expressive and varied. He knows how to convey the emotion of the song perfectly. The pace is perfect. The song is not too fast and not too slow, so you can enjoy it to the fullest The recording is of high quality. The sound is clear and you can hear all the details of Cook's game.
Thanks for the nice comment. It really is a beautiful musical roll. The pianola has undergone a major overhaul. I try to keep it in good condition. The recordings were only taken in a very amateur manner with a cell phone. After the pianola repair, there was no money left for better equipment.☺️ Thank you again for your visit!
Duo-Art Roll 18595 is a beautiful and cheerful recording that takes you back in time. The charming melody, lively rhythm, and expressive performance by Frank C. Milne make this roll a valuable addition to any collection of piano music.
Very nicely described. These old music rolls are always like a little journey through time. Thank you!
Imagine when this was the latest technology! Things have progressed scary fast!
Eine grandiose Erfindung!
Ja, das finde ich auch. Was ein Staubsauger im Klavier alles bewirken kann. ☺️ Vielen Dank für Deinen Besuch lieber Torben!
Ive never heard a player piano that dosen't sound like a saloon piano
Thanks for listening. The sound of course depends on the condition of the instrument. Unfortunately, there are only a few craftsmen left who can repair a pianola well.
@@Duo-ArtI definitely think this is the best sounding antique piano I've heard! Seems to be good tune..love it.
I'm happy to welcome anyone who is also interested in this ancient technology. Thank you for your compliment.
@@Duo-ArtI'd like to share with you a connection our family has with this era, my Great uncle was born in 1894. And he played the Piano in many theaters for Silent Movies..He eventually wound up as school music teacher. Served in WW1 Along with his brother, my grandfather who was born in 1889. Uncle Conrad was a truly great guy, funny, and a gentleman. Even in his mid 90s, he would play the piano for us from memory, many songs, and of course some RAGTIME!!! He ripped them off amazingly well, and everyone enjoyed his performances! He passed away in May of 94, 4 months after his 100th birthday, He had not been ill, simply told his family he wasn't feeling too well and was going to take a nap. He never woke up. We asked the Executer of his estate if we could have his piano, and we were given it. I remember he told me he bought it in 1924 when he turned 30. . Its a very nice, slightly ornate SCHILLER upright . All the keys work, it still in fairly decent tune, and not a single chip on the keys! Be well!
@@johnfranklin5277 In my lifetime, I've been Blessed to have known two people who played piano for silent movies. Their technique is somehow different from other piano artists.
Hi there, can you transfer this song into the piano sheet?
Hello, unfortunately not. I have the pianola because I can't play the piano well myself. 😬That's why I can't transfer the music notes. Maybe you can't find the sheet music online?
Happy New Year !!!
Thank you for listening. I wish you the same!
Too Fast
Absolutely agree. Ragtime is not supposed to played that fast. One musician who got it right was Ethel Smith. Her rendition of Maple Leaf Rag on the Hammond organ is perfection.
Hello, thanks for listening. The piece of music was played at the specified speed. This probably corresponds to the contemporary taste of the 20s and 30s.
I concur....too fast😢

@@Duo-Art Putting a link to another video that plays it too fast is not proof that it should be played that fast.
this is one of thevsaddest songs every recordegd!
Always love Puttin' On the Ritz!! Thank you for sharing!
It is a timeless piece of music. I'm glad you like it too! Thank you for watching.
I love the lights on your tree. I love the recording too !
The Christmas tree lights are very old. We also like it because it gives off a nice warm light. Thank you for watching!
I have this 3 roll Concerto set. Bauer himself was in the audience on an occasion in the USA listening to himself with orchestra. He said it was one of the most nervous experiences of his life! 😂
I've also had the other two roles of the Concert since Christmas. I think I'll record those next. You have very interesting background knowledge. That's very exciting. Thanks for that!
very nice roll. I'm not sure the tempo is correct though. Mine was is at this speed too at the tempo stated on the roll, but I find it sounds much more pleasant when played at 80% of this speed.
You're right. I stuck to the posted pace of 90. But a little slower would probably sound even better.
Does anyone else think of Mel Brooks? Young Frankenstein?
I think of Mel Brooks but independent of Young Frankenstein. I have posters of him on my bedroom Walls in a bikini.🎉
Can’t hear that song any more without thinking of Young Frankenstein
Thank you very much! I wish you the same and all the best for the new year. I'm very pleased that you liked the piece of music and the Webersound.
Your piano sounds incredible. I should not be surprised as it is a Weber! Happy holidays to you. I enjoyed this slower tempo very much.
Thank you for the compliment! I am very happy when others also enjoy the pianola.
