My channel is mainly on videos I like to share to anyone who likes music, Jukeboxes, and vinyl records. I am not a pro when it comes to jukebox repair but I always do my best on understand on how they work and what could go wrong. Most jukeboxes are as old as time but still work with proper care and detection on keeping them in working order. I am post other videos related to Anime, other tech items or things to sell on Ebay. This is the Finial part of the repair of the Sharp VZ-2500 Boombox. I mite do another video in the future on the amp sense it has a bad cap or transistor on the left channel that causes weak sound and when the caps get hot it distorts the audio.

Thanks for the video. I recently bought a Seeburg AP1 but the transformer is bad. I have the manual but it does not give the voltages needed to be able to find a replacement. Do you have any transformer information you can share?

Hey there, CTT, I have a 435 which uses the same mechanism and I'm having a problem with it. Was hoping I could pick your brain about what's going on?
Sure thing, ask away and I'll do my best to help out.
@@CloudTheTank Thanks! I messed up by pressing down on the Lifter Bracket and locking it into place. That's what normally pops back up after play is over, @4:26 in your video. The problem is that I pressed the Lifter down BEFORE play started (the gripper arm hadn't come out yet). And as I learned the hard way, by doing things out of order, the Lifter bracket now blocks the movement on a piece on the turntable plate that's connected to the drive rod in the back of the plate that is connected to the gears on the gripper motor. Because of this, the gripper arm can't complete its full motion; it gets stuck about 95% of the way there. And because the gripper doesn't complete its rotation, this prevents the tonearm mechanism from being engaged. The jukebox is in a weird limbo: the turntable is spinning as if its in play mode but because the gripper arm can't finish its motion, the tonearm doesn't think it's in play mode. The jukebox is now "stuck." I can't cancel things because you can only cancel a play if the tonearm is engaged. What I need to do is find a way to release the Lifter manually. I tried seeing if I could force the Lifter high enough to allow the gripper arm to complete its motion but it would take more force to do so than I'm comfortable with (I'd be risking breaking the Lifter completely). And clearly, the Lifter bracket is supposed to be released somehow but for the life of me, I cant figure out how to do that! This video does a better job of showing you what I'm talking about. www.dropbox.com/home/Public?di=left_nav_browse&preview=IMG_5604.MOV
The first thing to do is reverse the motor that operates the gripper arm manually under the unit back to the basket well the turntable plater is off and carefully move the part that ingages the 45 adapter forks. If the jukebox is on be sure it's in manual mode and not automatically since the limits switch in the back will be clicked to activate the motor you need to move back. For now what I read it is getting jammed when it goes into play by the part not being in front of the slide that controls the tone arm and popularity selected rod to the bank in the front.

hello, manually if you pick up the disc and pick it up again. The problem is that the amplifier doesn't work, it's broken and since I can't find one like it here in Spain, I don't know how to adapt a normal stereo amplifier, and adapt something so that it automatically picks up the disc when the disc ends. It's the only way I have to get my seeburg sl100 carnival jukebox back on. Thank you
Google translate is not very good but get some idea on some details. To get audio, ya need a Stereo with a Phono input with female RCA jacks to hook up the cables coming from the record unit, should not have to worry about a ground wire. The speaker hook up should be easy. just get normal speaker wire to hook up to the stereo. For the record playing part, The message don't make sense but sounds like it picks up the record but will not cancel it once its over. There has to be a magnet to trip the switch that's located near the tone arm in a glass case. If the magnet is gone it will not cancel the record once done. I have a part in my Seeburg repair talking about it.
@@CloudTheTank hello, the magnet is placed on the arm and before when the original amplifier worked, the finalization of the disc picked it up without problem. Now I've put a stereo amplifier on it but it doesn't pick up the record, it lacks power to the cables that the magnet makes act. apparently that current is sent by the original amplifier and I don't know how to solve it. Thank you very much for answering
hello, I have a jukebox like this that I restored a few years ago watching your videos. but now the amplifier has broken and here in Spain it is impossible to get one, and I can't find someone who is capable of fixing it. The only solution I have in mind to be able to continue enjoying the jukebox is to attach a stereo amplifier to it, but I don't know how to make the disc unloading mechanism work. If you could help me I would be grateful.
The mechanism that plays the records most likely needs its clutch cleaned and greased (oil will help if stuck) for it to pick up the records and move the mechanism to the record selected on the rack. When the clutch is down it moves the turntable, then once it find the selection it moves the clutch up and the arm on the bottom that's lined up to the slot picks the record up to play it. If the arm on the bottom dose not line up then the tormat in the back which is a bar with lots of contack points on will need adjusting for it to line up with in 1/16 (1mm) of a inch or it will hit the rack and not pick up the record or pick one up in the wrong slot.

That thing is so toasted all over. Nothing looks any good or even salvageable I mean it looks like everything needs completely gutted and replaced due to rust or other damages. It's possible, as we all know from those history channel shows, but when it comes to dollars and cents it looks like you would spend at least 5 grand restoring that thing at the end of which you will have a juke box worth about 1000-$1500 bucks. I wouldn't haul that to the dump for less than 500 bucks being it weighs 378lbs! Good luck man, if you still have it you might have about 100 bucks worth of salvageable parts to sell on eBay, all 7 of them.
It may be rusty in a lot of spots and missing the back penal to cover the under side of the cabinet, but it can still live. I don't plain on doing a full restore of the jukebox, manly bring it back to life and do little clean up. If parts need replace I will do the cheap route. I seen videos of other folks having something worse then what I got and they do a custom job to bring the machines back and seeing that makes me feel good that others care for a Jukebox or any old electronic we just don't make no more do to cast and lack of skills like are for-fathers back in there days.
you are the master and very professional engineer 👏 😊I have one more question please on my sharp vz-3000 system very thing works fine radio.. cassette ..and the record player both sides A and B works perfectly as there was broken black cable on B side all fix .... on my sharp vz-3000 on the left hand side there is power supply unit and there is some sort of transistor on the heat sink which is getting hot I checked its around 54 degrees Celsius ? is this normal? just worried about it or do I have to change the capacitor around the power supply unit? looking at the circuit diagram they are two micro Farad capacitor (1) 4700uf...35v X 2 (2) 2200uf...35v X 1 (3) 220uf.....16v x 1 (4) 33uf.......16v X 2 (5) 10uf ......50v X 3 (6) 100uf ....25v X 2 these are the capacitors on the power supply do they need changing??? or just leave them ? please kindly what is your professional opinion waiting for your kind reply Thank you 😊
The temp sounds about right for it, If the temp was getting to about 75 Celsius or more then its being overloaded with a cap drying out. when caps start to go bad is when they are effaced be being hot from cold, starting popping on the top or leaking from the bottom which will destroy the board is not removed and cleaned up. So at 54 deg Celsius if normal I say, your all good. Glade I could help and thanks for watching the videos.
Hi thank you very much for your reply I checked the B side tonearm and found the black cable which is very very thin was broken in half? I don't know how can it be possible to be broken in half ? so I soldered the broken cable with very difficult together as it very very thin and the cable moves with tonearm backwards and forwards.. and on the wire which I soldered I put small tab of Loctite flexible glue so it's insulated around the soldered joint and tired the black cable with cotton thread with other cable so all the cable can move free back and forward on the tonearm and the B Side works perfectly with no problems thank you
nice job saving that japanese nintendo famicom
hi how are you ? I am very sorry to disturb you ..I have replaced the turntable platter belt and the opening and closing door new belt and I have changed the new relay 221d012 on the pcb when I play the record on A side its working perfectly the door opens and closes perfectly But when I select B side to play LP record the stylus cartridge drops on the LP record and then the arm it's drags across the record quickly as its drags its scratching the record ? I have swapped the stylus and still the B side is doing the same thing..kindly help me on this issue thank you Sam
I would check to make sure the B side tone arm is straight, if it is some how bent along the tone arm which you will have to look behind the plastic guard to see. What happens is if the arm is not straight or something is wrong with the sensor, that will cause the tone arm to move more faster across the record and not follow the gooves. The make of the turntable is pretty much the same as the self drive turntables that some company's made, sharp and Technic are two that I know that make them.
I just got a wurlitzer americana II 3200. Seems that everything works except for the selector buttons. Sense it's an old machine Would you recommend switching out all the old caps?

@@CloudTheTank i have the mech running smoothly but the only thing it won't do is stop the record and put it back when it's done.
@@CloudTheTank Not sure if it's the trip switch or the magnet. Or if it's mi aligned in some way?
@@rickynlucy1 Could try Adjusting the Magnet by loosen the set screw and move it closer inward to see if it trip the swtich in the glass next to it. If not the relay trip is not getting power or it shorted to ground.

Thanks for the video I have an Americana 3700 myself and have to get it automated to work a little better
Hello, what a good video playback system. Japan's VHD was a similar system, but with more disc rotation in speed. Also, it had no direct contact with the groove, which was very good to prevent wear on the track. Still it has not had the success it deserved, they could have taken it up to 1080p. with some modifications. It is a real shame that here in Buenos Aires, Argentina only the LaserDisc arrived. I did not see the chrominance quality that the CED and VHD had. Kind regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina. South America. I am 👉 *Piatto Azzurro*
Hey there Cloud, got myself two VZ 2500 just recently, which both need work. One works fairly okay-ish, the other one is going to be a tough call with several issues I can't put my finger on just yet. Never worked much on such devices, but I'm open for new things. Anyways, about your cap picture around the 6 minute mark - the Circle one red: Mine is still pretty clean, also with the model number: A1120-Y (if yours wasn't visible anymore)
Mine was pretty oxide from the wet weather or a sprinkler system when I got it off ebay from a seller in New York. I'm lucky mine was not too bad. Still have a minor problem with the audio channel on the left side I need to look at sometime. Best of luck on your repairs and hope ya get them both working, there pretty rare now a days and really pricy if sold online.
@@CloudTheTank Yeah mine has some oxidation and rust overall as well. It sure isn't looking superb but it isn't causing problems it seems. Thankfully at least all mechanical problems have been fixed. Right now I have issues with the tape recorder, which is technically running, but having no sound output overall. Backtracked all solder joints and cables yet I didn't find any problem there. Radio output is fine, and when I tip my finger on the cassette head (by now I just didn't care anymore) I get a direct respond from the speakers - so by now I am just out of ideas, yet.
I think you are a really cool guy and a very talented and skilled person you do really great work with repairing jukeboxes and other electronic related items all the best to you always be safe and careful

I had to replace 3 belts on the cassette player. And it was not easy. The belts and pitchroller were completely disintegrated.
Hey there. I have replaced all the belts of my VZ-2500. Now the speed of the cassette player is way to slow. Is there a way to adjust the speed?
There is a way to adjust the speed. The motor should have a small cloth cover hole to adjust the kHz speed. I have a digital copy of the service manual of the deck incase ya need one.
