Oh wow I was first introduced to this piece while I was in the 11th grade. Our band director played this for our trumpet section. It took me 46 years to find this again. Your grandfather was an amazing trumpet player. Wished I could of met him personally.

I was one of Larry's students. Even lived with him for a short time. I have nothing but love and admiration for Larry. He was one of the most influential people in my life. Maybe I could buy you lunch if you're ever in OKC.

Would that be Larry Skinner who did a stint as 1st trumpet in the Army Field Band during the late 60's? If so he also played a high note solo in my Baptist Church once and was lucky he didn't shatter any stained glass windows back then!

@@davidharrington7999 Yes, it is that Larry Skinner. I wish more of his feature solo work with the Army Field Band was available today. I heard a lot of it on vinyl, 25 years ago, but have never been able to find copies since.

@@jimutley2303 i only know o one recording of the Army Field Band with Larry Skinner as first trumpet player. You can find it with the keywords "Army Field Band Mormon Tabernacle". Just some parts with his solos. But quite nostalgic. i was only 10 years old way back then.Btw my father was the 1st Horn player in ittoo. You can hear his playing in it too. tks for your reply.

+Tyler Smith My 3rd Great Grandfather was a half mile away at Kolb Farm, 42nd GA Infantry. He was later in the battle of Atlanta and kept behind a bale of cotton for safety (verbal history told to my grandmother). He was eventually captured and spent months in a prison in Ohio. After the war he was released and walked home. I'm glad you enjoyed the presentation. It was awesome to see in person. The park is only a few miles from my home.
