Picture this: a tiny, disposable pump, about the same size as a Dexcom G6, only meant for use at night to help correct high blood sugars. Intrigued? We'll talk about its pros, cons, and when it might hi...

First up, we're talking about the increasing trend of doctors prescribing Ozempic and similar drugs for people with type 1. Then, we recount a hilarious and slightly terrifying tale of trying to silence a malfunctioning Omnipod by running it over with a Kia Stinger. Spoiler alert: it took more than just a hammer to finally put it to rest. Who knew insulin pumps could be so dramatic? We also sha...

LoL my pancreas apparently clocked out and now am phlebotomist for a living😀
carly is very patient
😅😅😅👍👍👍
I'm sorry, but I'm not buying it. No one on the Lunar trial went low 😅😂 I'm calling bs. What sort of diabetics were they using in this trial?
Diagnosed at 19, this is exactly what I want to get a bunch of normal, same as adults who survived 20s with hidden illness or disability. What's a clinical team? We have GPs and Endos paid fo. But with Peer Support workers they should bring other young people to answer with honestly so they can be safe and party safely with friends. Most have no fkn idea what it takes to be alive and why risk it. Being alive is a death sentence, physically being wasted or high or hammered is worth it when you have to medicate to survive, also funny af. Cheers!
This is exactly what I am looking and hoping for! I hope this project would be a success.
well done
good cause

Love how she says exercise 😊
I’m 11 years old and I have type 1 diabetes
i’m 12 and have diabetes ❤ sorry for you
I think his post was meant to explain that these AID systems do not replace the fundamentals of good control. Specifically proper pre bolus for any food. Dr. Ponder did give an interview to Stacey Simms in which he explained his statement. He is a practicing pediatric endo and sees many patients that are on AID systems not bolusing at all or bolusing after eating.
Well if you use Omnipod there is a way to turn off the song of death. Just requires a safety pin.
I feel a little guilty about my twizzlers hypo treatment now.
I keep accidentally stabbing my thumb with the Omnipod syringe.
Then why do you charge so much money?
The cost of healthcare is definitely an issue in Australia, we agree. For the record, no one on the Life in Beta podcast is a healthcare professional. They are 3 people who live with type 1.
Well done guys 👏👏
I am type 1 diabetic and have fun to “cure” diabetes it will be will be more of a challenge then a successful mission
Have just fallen onto your page loving it absolutely, my partner is a type 1 diabetic and it is super great to see content in this format most I’ve come across is all deep dive Facebook pages and the like keep it up loving it. My wife runs one of those said Facebook pages “Diabetes Support Australia (all types)” with 14k members. I see you run your own Facebook page but I’m sure if you wanted to reach a wider audience she would be happy to throw some stuff in there. Let me know. Again loving the content 😊
Howdy! Thanks so much for the feedback. We’re stoked that you’re loving the show! 😃 We’d love to chat about how we could get some clips from the show into your wife’s Facebook group. Adam and Benjamin have submitted join requests already. What’s the best way to contact you? If you can, please flick us a quick note to hello@type1familycentre.org.au and we’ll reach out. Talk soon!
I would’ve been asking a million questions 😂 I’m too curious
Not everyone might like that, Benjamin wouldn’t have minded answering questions at all! Haha. He’s always up for helping ppl learn more about type 1 diabetes.
I mean, better than if no one cared, right? Better safe than sorry
Ive had type 1 diabetes for 24 years. I have had a pump for 15+ years. I have never had this issue before in my life...
Another great episode guys. The T1 travel stories were particularly (scary) interesting. Look forward to the next in 2 weeks.
Thanks for listening and glad you enjoyed it! 😃 We’ve got our first guest coming on the show in a couple of episodes too.
Eh, I hate how shitty people are to type 2 diabetics. I got it at age 19 and I was active and 115lbs. I'm tired of the ignorant comments from people, even some nurses, about how I must have done something wrong and did this to myself. I just have shit genetics and there is nothing I can do to not be diabetic. Diet, exercise, weightloss or gain are nonfactors. I can be perfect and stil have T2 diabetes.
Unfortunately there's a lot of blame and shame associated with type 2, we hear you. 🙁 The frustration for T1s is the lack of understanding doctors have about the different ways that T1s need to be managed, which can be quite different to T2s. Throwing both in together just makes it harder for ppl with both types to get what they need. Big topic... Good on you for calling it out! 👏🏻
A very worthy cause. #donated!
Very informative
Thank you!
Fantastic initiative! Awesome production value too. Keep up the excellent work!
Thank you!
Well done
Finally we're talking the most important topics - coffee and insulin.
