Letting Go of Fear & Trauma: The Path to Inner Healing and Healthy & Secure Relationships
Welcome! Today, we’re exploring the powerful yet counterintuitive concept of letting go. In relationships, especially when influenced by trauma, we may feel compelled to cling, chase, or seek external validation, hoping it will fill our inner voids. But true healing comes from within, and letting go is a pathway to that wholeness.
First, let’s touch on trauma responses like fight, flight, freeze, and fawn. The fawn response often shows up as people-pleasing - a survival mechanism where we try to keep peace to avoid rejection. While this may have protected us once, in adult relationships, it often creates imbalances and distances us from authentic connection.
When we cling out of fear, we un...

Brainspotting techniques involve a therapeutic approach where a clinician helps a client locate specific eye positions, or "brainspots," that correlate with areas of unprocessed trauma or emotional distress in the brain. By maintaining a fixed gaze on these spots, the client is able to access and process deeply rooted psychological issues that might not be easily reached through traditional tal...

    You’ve got some great info! I have a suggestion (while you don’t have to listen to it if you don’t like). Start the video like this: “here are two things a therapist will NEVER do” (In shorts people have the attention span of a sock 😂), use the the back camera of your phone, and introduce yourself at the end if you want to introduce yourself :)

    'can be anything' but then you say it is overused? I don't find this helpful at all tbh. I know you tried to establish a sense for how to figure out what constitutes trauma but I feel like your description is so blurry that this video can actually be used as a means to overuse the term...

    • @SelfHealingnow
      @SelfHealingnow Месяц назад

      I appreciate your feedback. Trauma isn’t just any difficult experience-it’s when an event overwhelms a person’s ability to cope, causing lasting emotional harm. While trauma can stem from a range of experiences, what matters is the individual's subjective response. Overuse of the term can blur its meaning, so it's important to distinguish between challenges and true trauma with care and nuance. I believe being aware of individual trauma and its impact is important.

    The butterfly method is very soothing, much nicer than eye movement. For someone with Vertigo, side-to-side eye movement is a source of stress in itself, but I noticed when trying this guided session for the first time, my closed eyes started to move rapidly at times, similar to REM sleep. I cry easily, and there were a lot of tears as I tried this technique. Are tears okay if I don't feel too overwhelmed? I feel better after crying but not sure if it's okay during session.

    What can I do if I'm unable to feel the physical sensations/emotions when picturing the traumatic event? I'm able to imagine the scene in my head in all details, but I don't feel anything/no anxiety which I would immediately feel if I get into the situation today in real life. So I'm not able to give a score from 0-10 since I always feel 0 when only imagining it. What should I do? Is EMDR useless then if I cant bring up those feelings during the session?

    • @SelfHealingnow
      @SelfHealingnow 6 месяцев назад

      I appreciate you sharing this with me. It's important to notice and feel the whole range of our feelings on a scale of 0 to 10. I suggest you find the spots in the body where you feel your feelings. For example, I can notice slower breathing when I feel calm whereas I can feel faster breathing when I get excited or nervous. It's important to expand our bodily awareness from certain spots in the body. EMDR is designed to help you become more self-aware. So let's start somewhere and increase your self-awareness gradually. I hope this helps. Thank you.

    No real person with this condition is advocating for themselves.I have a relative who is a little anti social and what I found is a common thread is that is he completely oblivious or just doesn't care that much about the unwritten rules in society. I also do things my own way but yeah I don't do sht that hurts others or animals. I am fortunate that I at some point in my childhood got that rules are their to keep us and others safe, so they are not their to attack you. I find many people with this need to subscribe to some form of religion that will provide them with that structure they don't seem to naturally pick up on or care to follow in society. I personally don't get being religious but yeah if you can use it as a hack to function better then I am all for it.
