24.07.02 The Marathon des Sables with Juliana Ambrosi
In April 2024, Juliana Ambrosi flew to Morocco to take part in the Marathon des Sables, a seven-day 250 km stage footrace through the heart of the Sahara desert.
Carrying all she had in an 11 kg pack on her back and sleeping in the shelter of a Bedouin tent, she ran through the dunes and over mountains, enduring sandstorms and temperatures of 45 degrees Celsius.
The only resource provided by the organisers was water, which had to be strictly rationed - for ten days there were no showers, bathing or toilets for any of the 900-odd participants from 60 different countries.
Oddly enough the hardest part was just getting to the start line, which Juliana describes as a “logistical nightmare” fo...

Manaslu, 8163 meters, dubbed the "mountain of the spirit," graces the ranks as the eighth-highest peak globally, nestled within Nepal's majestic Himalayas. To end this tragedy of thousands of women and girls losing their lives to Gender Based Violence every year, is a mountain that we all must overcome? As a founder of "Impilo Collection Foundation" we stand for humanity, bringing awareness to ...

Philanthropist and award-winning jewellery designer Angela Yeung made history in September this year by becoming the first South African to summit Mount Manaslu in the Nepalese Himalayas, which at 8,163 metres is the eighth highest peak in the world. What makes her story different is that she has no background in mountaineering - she climbs to raise awareness and funds for the victims of gender...

In fact, he describes the trip, which took the number of countries he has visited to 101, as arguably the best he’s ever done. “It was back to basics- the enjoyment...

Fiona De Sousa will speak to us about freediving, the practice of holding your breath when diving underwater without the use of breathing equipment, such as a scuba tank. She has swum with humpback whales, dolphins and sharks, which are sensitive to the frequency emitted by freedivers when their heart rate falls. Her personal best breath-hold at present is five minutes and 26 seconds - just hal...
23.09.05 - Lightning by Ryan Blumenthal
Просмотров 15111 месяцев назад
Lightning is nature’s most prolific serial killer, claiming more lives than hurricanes, tornadoes or floods with about 24 000 fatalities globally each year. This is about a tenth of the estimated number who are actually struck, but survivors often have severe disabilities. The biggest tragedy is that many of these incidents could be avoided. Professor Ryan Blumenthal, senior forensic pathologis...

23.06.01 A History of Ochre by Tammy Hodgskiss
Просмотров 97Год назад
The history of human evolution is closely tied to the use of ochre, a colourful and iron-rich rock rock known to most of us for its use as a pigment in the creative stirrings of our ancestors in Africa, who used it for rock art and paintings. But according to Tammy Hodgkiss, curator of the Origins Centre in Johannesburg, this humble rock should receive far more recognition, not just as a creati...

I don’t know why more climbers don’t do this?
Hi Nick. What about butter for fat ? I am thinking about mixing butter with peanut butter . Regs John.
Unfortunately jack was killed because he landed only 400 feet from a Hungry Grizzly Bear
Definitely on my bucket list of things to do!
What a magical experience and an incredible achievement to walk the whole 650kms of the Kruger Trail …… and live to tell the story!! Love your passion for all things big and small. Keep doing you! 🙏❤️🙏
Fantastic summary Chris - an absolutely amazing journey and so incredible that you’ve completed your “Kruger journey”
Paragliding and base jumping may help in bringing down sick hikers through emergency rescue to base camp.
That worked out far better than the guy who tried to snowboard down Everest.
The drumming was so annoying otherwise great video! Had to watch on mute for sure
Did he carry the glider up?
Could you rescue someone like this? Paraglide them off the mountain? I guess in a few years there will be rescue drones capable of taking people off the mountain. By "a few years" I mean at some point in the future drones will ber able to fly up to a person and if someone can attach them, fly them back down. I know the air gets thin but still.
Oh yeah. It will happen, for sure.
Wow. Thats from Camp 4.
The whole way down I was imaging a Sherpa hanging off his back banging a leather drum 😂
(drum sound's annoying & unnecessary, but video imagery amazing)
i have no idea how that little bit of fabric could even lift this guy, seeing how his balls are bigger than the moon... jeeeeeeeeesh
Im seeing an Everest zip-line in the future, for sure
Man, the coolest shit randomly hits my RUclips feed! Thank you for this!
Very impressive feat, well done. The sound on this video was very strange and disconnected from the images, just a drum, not a beat, no build-up, it was a very strange sound to listen to.
What’s with the stupid drums?
Looks a lot easier than climbing back down.
I was thinking other day that climbers must have a parachute with them. In case of any issues during descent one would've the best chance to save his life.
“Forgot to press record Jim.”
Jumanji drums?
Bloody annoying drum
This is absolutely beautiful. But is nobody going to ask what the f*ck the background music is
What the frick is the audio
Epic video --- but horrible, disturbing soundtrack.
this is a WAY better way to get down than climbing back down. and probably a lot safer too
Great video. The drums are REALLY ANNOYING!
heavy 😮😮😮😮 re heavy, que locura
Legends have it that this man have balls made out of titanium ! Brilliantly brave man
Your video fills us with awe and amazement, prompt us of the magnificence of the world and it’s Creator.
awesome... could do without all that pounding on the drums!
Yes, the drumming is beyond annoying
@@amytinnin3248turn your volume down then
@@basilbrush9075 I did, thanks! 😉

Hihetetlen, csodálatos, merész! Köszi hogy megcsináltad!
*No drums next time lol
Great video. But the drumming drove me nuts.
Drums make it hard to watch with the sound it's very distracting
Sorry - looks terrifying to me ... Anything could happen .
See" paragliding off SUMMIT of everest" to see the real thing.
How far down the mtn????
What a feat
Thank you for sharing your views and experience from the ground side. Always wondered if you were ok after we dropped you at St Augistine's. Glad you are ok and fully recovered! Regards
Amazing talk and well done guys. Awesome!!
What a dream !!!
who hit the tom
Incroyable!
wow what a quick way to get out of dangers of everest!
