    Pathways is the most confusing, non-intuitive website i have ever seen ... It's impossible to find anything, least of all connect the dots around ... Past 2 days i cant even find "what do i have to do" ... This video was a waste of another 30+ mins ... Level, Project, Task, Assignment, Activity ... where is what i have "to do" ?? .... just take a simple example and navigate the damn portal.

    Pathways destroy toastmasters's learning program. I am lost. Will not be renewing my membership. This video is like a sales pitch with little relevance to the actual objectives of learning public speaking. Its so sad a hundred years of history is destroyed by pathways.

    Much like many of us, I spend more time navigating this dreadful website than I do preparing speeches. It's absolutely nuts, and members are going to get frustrated and burn out. I would venture to say that this should be Toastmasters' Number One priority, as clubs will lose members or at least lose enthusiasm. My issue is not with the Pathways system itself, although I don't LOVE it. My issue is with the website. It STINKS.

    How can one re-select a new First path after changing mind on the Original selection. Say, it's required before the Level 1 Assignments have been started. I don't find such a feature to Change one's mind anywhere on the portal.

  • @katybutler2299

    I am absolutely shocked by Pathways. Even after a time consuming one-on-one introduction by a fellow member, I feel like I'm in a labyrinth and constantly get lost. I cannot even figure out how to abdicate from the online Pathways and return to paper manuals. I spend far too much time on computers for my physical health anyway. Like others, I have wasted more time trying to learn Pathways than I am on speeches. It has been a six-month barrier to my giving speeches at all -- and I'm a professional public speaker needed to brush up on my skills. This could be a serious blow to a tremendous community organization. It needs a complete redesign.

  • @chrish6001

    Why doesn't Toastmasters offer webinars for COT and online meetings about Pathways? I'd like to see THEM demonstrate proficiency before offering to teach others! Isn't that part of providing authentic leadership?

  • @amandazwarts6548
    @amandazwarts6548 6 лет назад

    Did I really say 'isnt this easier than taking my manual to club and getting someone to fill it in?? 20 steps instead of one, this is ridiculous. As for finding your speaker's evaluation form, and the flimsy objectives.... please make this simpler to find and make the objectives relevant and helpful.

  • @UncleGeou2b
    @UncleGeou2b 6 лет назад

    I have to admit, I find the online Pathways experience tedious, poorly designed and needlessly confusing. It seems like an over-engineered product where they let the programmers do the interface design -i.e. it does everything you want it to, but not in a way a normal human would intuitively figure out. Our club is looking for options as to how we'll designate time and people to help our older members who are not computer literate.

  • @Quinchen69
    @Quinchen69 6 лет назад

    If this would be easy, I would not have to watch a video to know how to do it. The Pathways experience for me is bad and the UI is worse. I hope this gets updated asap.. until then, thanks for the video!

  • @michaelbowles4891
    @michaelbowles4891 6 лет назад

    Take up of Pathways is poor in my club and progress even worse. Pathways is not all that complicated, but it is not obvious. Members are expected to learn the system at home by themselves. I cannot see that working. Personally, I am IT-literate, but am finding Pathways a drudge. What makes sense is the paper version with online just for recording progress and monitoring by the VPE.

  • @carolmoss1510

    I am an experienced toastmaster. I am frustrated trying to figure out what I am supposed to be doing now! My club suggests we start again with my ice breaker...whaaat? And the evaluation system seems goofy. And why are all the explanatory vids not professionally produced? This is weird and as some other commenters say, it makes me feel old.

    • @chrish6001
      @chrish6001 5 лет назад

      Our Area Director says he's been doing a CC every year. It also helps count towards the club's DCP points. Every experienced member doing additional Ice Breakers are good as it helps introduce them to newer members or relay things they haven't presented before.

    1 big challenge for most clubs in our area is we do NOT have WIFI & members do NOT like dragging their laptops to meetings this makes it VERY difficult to show members at meetings how to access all the wonderful Pathways opportunities

  • @scarboroughtoastmasters277

    toastmasters is all about learning we have a strange buzzing in the background it may be caused by having the camera plugged into a power source when the battery died

    Our 1st podcast , its all about learning from our mistakes & getting better.There is background noise from a fan & at the time line of 16;42 you can hear it get turned off

  • @scarboroughtoastmasters277
    @scarboroughtoastmasters277 6 лет назад

    I like to look ahead & start planning for future projects, for example Podcasting takes a fair amount of planning & research , just to deal with the technical issues ( like learning what a 3GPP is & how to convert it),because pathways will NOT let you open up future projects it makes it very hard to look ahead

  • @scarboroughtoastmasters277
    @scarboroughtoastmasters277 6 лет назад

    Some of the new projects are great in that they are new & you learn a lot doing them,BUT they are far far more work than the classic speeches.podcast for example .its a lot of work creating 60 minutes of podcast and you learn so much about both the technical side and the creative side .BUT it is far more time consuming & takes far more effort than 5 minute speeches from the classic program

  • @scarboroughtoastmasters277
    @scarboroughtoastmasters277 6 лет назад

    Mentoring speech , how many times are we going to have to hear the same speech done over and over

  • @scarboroughtoastmasters277

    The intention and content is probably good but the implementation is a total mess. When I first join toastmaster ~9 months ago, I get a CC booklet and I am ready to go. With the new system there are so many ridiculous hoops to jump through before anything can be done. I think it is very clear that the system is a total fail when someone need to make a 1/2 hr video merely to explain how the system work.

    • @johannesvoorberg3489
      @johannesvoorberg3489 6 лет назад

      Absolutely...I joined toastmasters to do public speaking, not to spend most of my time behind the computer wading through this Pathways giant maze. Sorry, but this is a mess.

    • @chenqin415
      @chenqin415 6 лет назад

      After hours watching pathway videos, asking questions and getting answers, I realize that most content that we need are actually in the system, we just need to, as you described, learn how to navigate the giant maze to find the necessary resources. If pathway is a speech, I would say it has a great script but the person delivering it forget his lines and stammers a lot. He really need to improve on the delivery. Great content is useless of no one can understand you. Toastmaster should know this better than anyone else.
