Ojibwe word of the day!
Learning languages is fun and good for the mind, body, and spirit. I love learning, teaching, and sharing about the Ojibwe language. It’s amazing that in spite of 500 pretty rough years, we still have indigenous languages and cultures to share. Our ancestors paid dearly so we could have them today. Every word we learn honors our ancestors and future generations. Miigwech!

Hello everyone! Miigwech
What do the separate word parts mean. Gami means "big or huge" doesn't it? What is Michi in Ojibwe?
@@richardcope9803 michi = long; gami = body of water
@@anton.treuer So "gitchi" is big or great?
TY!!! I LOVE YOOZ!!!!!
Your university are not helping kids there putting them in dept and teaching them woke ideologues that will destroy your country
As always miigwech.
Nice !
Must have been a long climb. A bit winded at the top.😂 Miigwech love that smile.
And your student's love you for it. We sense your true passion, even those of us that are not Native. Miigwech, niijii
maybe pair this with a formal Boozhoo greeting, to remind them of a proper answer to your rhetorical question 😉 😆
Your suggestions suck big time because it doesn't address men's irresponsible sexual behavior. 16 bm had a combined 336 children. Men really do need to stfu about abortion. YOU HAVE NO SAY IN WHAT A WOMAN DOES WITH HER BODY. You do nothing to prevent impregnating women. Men are 100% responsible for all unwanted pregnancies. MEN DO NO CONNECT THEIR EJACULATIONS TO CHILDBIRTH. MEN ARE THE PROBLEM. If you want the abortion rate to drop, force all men to get vasectomies until they are ready to start a family than they get the vasectomy reverse. That is the only solution that will decrease abortions.
There is only one thing that decrease abortions.....and that is for men to start practicing birth control. It is men's ejaculation that causes the pregnancy. If men don't ejaculate inside of women they don't want kids by, women can't get abortions....All of the social ills people complain about instantly decreases when men practice birth control, not women. If you want abortions to decrease....than start forcing men to practice birth control. Men are the ones who should be getting vasectomies...all this other crap you are talking about is just another way to allow men to continue to ejaculate inside of women.
Another lgbbtq another dei?
Glad since Andrew Jackson was an a-hole. He broke the law forcing and killing people for his own benefits. One of the worst pres and bully of his time. Didn't believe in justice or the legal justice of his time.
Ojibwe is such a beautiful language! today it's quite windy in the Twin Cities for climbing however. So I am in bed with a hot cup of tea. Enjoy your day! Miigwech!
Thank You! ✨🪄
Very informative video. Miigwech!
Again a very nice one. Miigwech!
Thank you brother. Much respect from Minnesota 🍀
Well the other thing that comes to mind is that men need to set up to the plate and start being responsible for their actions. I have several friends who are mothers of boys. I've had heard them say on numerous occasions that "girls" just are out to trap men into marriage by getting pregnant. I've also heard them complain about how their sons would have to pay child support and that is just so hard for these poor boys. Seriously I'd rather write a check every month than wake up at 3am with a crying baby. It's hard to believe that we are still stuck in the 1950's. It takes two to make a baby but if you listen to the anti choice faction women do this all on their own. Let's grow up and provide sex education, birth control and health care and keep politicians out of a woman's doctors office.
Abortion bans aren't about saving babies. They're about controlling and dominating women by shackling us with unwanted pregnancies, and have been since 1848. The "babies" are just the angle to do that.
Gitchi Megwetch!!!!
We also have a culture of violence, so much so that a woman's risk of being murdered (usually by her intimate partner) goes up during pregnancy and the first months after birth. Poverty fuels domestic violence. But this happens at every social level of our culture which is hostile to equal rights of women.
Banning abortion causes a lot more death of a mother!
I think if the goal was to actually reduce abortion, lawmakers would have funded a lot of education about human reproduction and about birth control. Also, if these lawmakers cared about children, they would fully fund WIC, prenatal care for women, daycare. Professor Treuer, I love children, but the lawmakers who voted to make abortion illegal were not thinking about children when they voted to make abortion illegal. With all apologies, the lawmakers and Supreme Court who made abortion federally illegal are sexist and hateful. I have met a few people who are against abortion who truly care about babies and children, and act in ways that show their values. But many people who don't respect women don't actually really respect or care about children either.
@@cynthiawhite8323 I agree!
@@anton.treuer I figured we were not that far apart in our thinking. 🙂 Miigwech.
So glad to hear you add your voice to this discussion niijii. Making abortion illegal does nothing to address the underlying reasons why women seek abortions and history tells us that even if abortions were banned across the US women would still find ways to end unwanted pregnancy but at greater risk to themselves. People are by all means entitled to their opinions on this issue but I would argue that once you place greater value on the developing fetus over the life of the woman carrying it you essentially turn women into nothing more than breeders who lose all autonomy over their bodies the moment they become pregnant. I don't believe laws, no matter how restrictive will ever force women to see themselves as breeding stock.
Hi I am pro life I don't agree with this topic so bit I understand that people who do that is effective after it thanks but no thanks on topic it a lot coming from you Mr fox 🦊
I wish men would stop telling women what they can & cannot do with their own bodies. It's not your body, NOT YOUR CHOICE. It's really as simple as that. I don't know why folks keep trying to make it about anything else, because it's not. There would be RIOTS in the street, if men were treated as poorly as women are. I agree that it is wildly ironic, that everyone seems to care about the children (so they say) ... until they are born at least & then after that, GOOD LUCK! ... at least until you're 18, then everyone is super interested in you again, either for the military or other nefarious purposes. It's all mouth service, no one gives af about anyone but themselves or we wouldn't be having the same issues, go round & round every year. Nothing ever changes. We need fundamental shifts in how women are viewed & treated in the world & until that gets categorically better, men in power are going to continue punishing the majority of the population ... because they can. We also need to get rid of ALL religion out of politics. All these moral christian crusaders launching hate filled attacks against women, the LGBTQ community (particularly transgender women) & really anyone that doesn't fit their narrow bigoted world view are out of control. These deranged lunatics should be under psychiatric care & not in positions of power. Nothing will change until women are actually treated like people & not just breeding stock for your enjoyment.
Well said. I would also add the importance of sex/reproductive education and access to birth control options.

So true. We definitely see so much of this around election time. There is too much accusing and far too little listening.
No, it's that we don't agree with the concepts of "equity" and implicit bias.. there are lots of perfecty correct and normal reasons for "inequity".. See, the problem or the beauty with humans is that we are different.. we like different things, we have different interests and motivations and goals and personalities.. The concept of implicit bias as a bad thing seeks to erase our natural diversity (not racial) which is in fact our strenth.. and these ridiculous marxis ideas actually erode that strenght.. thisnis where you argument completely fails because it fails the human race.

There's approximately 9 billion people on the planet. Out of this number roughly only 350 million are white world-wide. Half of the white population will age out and die within the next 25-30 yrs. And when considering many other antiwhite variables, in another 100 yrs. you'll be hard pressed to find anybody that even resembles a white person. You are antiwhite. You are espousing "antiwhiteism" and advocating for the "white erasure" of westernkind. All groups of people are special and unique. Westmen are not replaceable.
The very tasty namegoz. Miigwech as always!

Take heart, though - white supremacy doesn't exist.
English and Powhatan people often married, with the best-known being Pocahontas and John Rolfe. Their son was Thomas Rolfe, who has more than an estimated 100,000 descendants today.[10] Many of the First Families of Virginia have both English and Virginia Algonquian ancestry.[2]
