Spell it right and you might have some credibility
So beautiful
I stayed there for a couple weeks back in 1979. Was one of the nicer hotels in the area back then. Was there going to school at Shorts Brothers in Belfast.
Was there 1998-2000. It wasn’t a great experience. Went out conducting a lot of vehicle check points (Eagle VCP’s dropped off by helicopter) and many foot patrols. People there always happy and accommodating to see us. (Not) Life there at the time was an existence, most of us couldn’t wait to get out of there and rotate back to Palace Barracks, Belfast. You’d spend an average of a month there every 3 months and a resident tour of NI at that time was 2 years. Crossmaglen and forkhill were also turd holes. Spent too much time there too
Great to see the smut is still all over the boys rooms. No doubt all that’s stopped nowadays. I had a mate who had so much porn stacked under his bed the legs didn’t touch the ground! Absolutely brilliant memories!
There a sauna?? Must have been in the officers mess
I worked for the naafi in bessbrook barracks before and during the closer, it was one of the best experiences of my life. I really miss it. It's amazing to see inside the mill again 😊
I have lived in maybe twenty different homes in my life and never fallen down the stairs of any others or known any else to, but when I moved to a former quarryman's home built in the 1860s I fell down twice and my present wife also. A number of other people, all female, fell down too. The best thing was that when I was putting it up for sale the estate agent almost fell down and said that she viewed hundreds of properties a year and had never fallen down the stairs. The back bedroom had what looked like old bloodstains on the floor boards which travelled to the front bedroom. I tested with reagent strips and yes, the y were old blood stains. I knew a man and younger wife died there in around the 1890s but have not been able to find any more out.
You should read my book My Family Ghosts (and other Strange Happenings) all authentic paranormal events from ghosts to time slips and even demonic possessions.
Hi, abandoned world explorer! Told me to check out your channel! That's a cool place. Shame about the history. Personally, I'm not sure if I believe this paranormal stuff, but i don't know! If you can't hear or see them, though & dose mean that they are not there? Watching listening. Who knows?
Thanks for coming over! I’m more active on social media. I need to work on RUclips 🤣
New subby here. Found you through Dave @ AWE. Will be checking out your videos. This place is amazing.
Thanks! I’m more active on Facebook & Insta 💓
Couldn’t be 3000 surly I spent months there with 1 para and was no way 3000
You should go explore the abandoned college abbey in newry northen ireland it's a school also
Interesting.
My mum used to play in the grounds around the governors house. She lived with her family in one of the houses up there in the early to mid part of the 1900’s.
Admittedly my visits to Bessbrook were in and out affairs. Newtownhamilton and Forkhill was where I spent most of my days out there. So much more to it than meets the eye.
are there travellers there
I'm quiet sceptical as far as ghosts and haunting are concerned but I do to tend to believe (or want to believe) the Richard Fellix theory of people just seeing a recording attributed to a tragic, traumatic event, premature death, murders, suicides, accidents, executions, battles etc and that the energy used by the body in resisting death and the electronic impulses given off by the brain moments before death can be so immense that the event can actually be recorded into the fabric of building woodwork, stone or even the soil and is then replayed over and over again like a video recorder, possibly at the same time of year the event occoured etc and this could be an example of what resident may have saw with there being so many tragic events attributed to the building and made them flee.
Good video, make sure you all give her a like and subscribe x
Awh thanks Dave 🥳
I'd probably shoot myself too if i was looking at that wallpaper every day.
It’s a bit stripy 🤣
A few incorrect parts of your dialogue. I served in Bessbrook Mill from January to July 1991. I had only turned 18 in November 1990. I have a lot of recollections about my time at The Mill that is be happy to share.
Matt at Finders Beepers sent me here ^_^ great explore! This place has some crazy history!
It’s an asset to the town 🥳
Lets just hope the barracks doesnt get dismantled, rebuilt with fancy homes then given away to syrian or somolian refugees although that is almost certain to happen
Finders beepers sent me here and i’m glad he did. Great video.

I started my nurse training in 1981 in an old asylum built first in 1829 and then extended. They were not as bad as people think. The patients could dress and act as they wanted and had cafes and bars and theatres. When the 'Care in the Community' started, this was because all these old hospitals had huge grounds. London was ringed by them. So Thatcher wanted to sell them all off to make millions. This money did not go into NHS care it went into government coffers. The patients who had happily lived their lives in total safety now found themselves in residential homes and flats where they were vulnerable and exploited. Many developed drug problems that they had not had in the asylums. It was a disaster as all government decisions usually are in the UK.
Excellent, very interesting history, glad it's being restored
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi - the two recently built cottages were built for HBO Game of Thrones sequel which was shelved . The cottages weren’t in Game of Thrones however you’ll see the field these cottages were built on in Game of Thrones - it was used for an archery scene which you’ll see in the episode and a CGI castle on the cliff side. Cheers
Great to know the history on this amazing building and grounds. Always heard about Jail Square and few ghost stories to go with it. Would make amazing Paranormal inveztigation
Yes it would 😮
Heartbreaking to see how Gaol Square degenerated since I lived there in the late 1950s. So glad the Governor’s House is going to be restored. Thanks for the visit, shocking as it was!
Thanks I’m glad you enjoyed watching!
Wow amazing! William McKenzie a Liverpool business man has one like this. The local legend says that he sold his soul to the devil in return for luck at gambling but, when he died, he was to be buried above ground sitting at a card table with a winning hand. Being above ground, the devil could not claim his soul. His ghost reputedly haunts Rodney Street where his grave is. According to Wikipedia, he is actually buried below ground. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Mackenzie_(contractor)
Great video. Sad to see things neglected though like that piano. Those ovens too cost thousands and probably work. Someone starting a small cafe would love one but probably they will be cleared out and scrapped.
Just been here. The fume hood came down. The ovens are promoted to scrap now.
My Great-Great-Great-Grandfather Patrick Kelly was scammed by Montgomery in 1870. He was a Constable, he even attended the trials in Omagh
Montgomery must have been up to all sorts
So great to see this. I grew up in Omagh and was always fascinated by this place. I remember doing a history project at primary school about Omagh Gaol and visiting the site. Always wondered what the inside was like. Let’s hope the new owner does a tasteful restoration.
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Brilliant! You should check out the old tyrone and fermanagh hospital which was used as a school up until recently. Some crazy history there too.
I visited here a few years ago, I must repost the video. I also did the tyrone county hospital before it was demolished! I'll repost if you want to see 😎
Gonna take a hundred skips to clear out that old house...glad that it's to be restored though
I think they are through a few already, but all worthwhile!
I love the way you go through things with such respect ,thanks for the video😊
Thank you for watching 🫶
Very interesting, love seeing what Omagh looked like years ago!
Omagh has a lot to offer in history, it's one of my fav spots in Tyrone ❤@@peterphillips5424
Class video!! Really glad it’s being saved👌
Before I met my girlfriend, she lived in an apartment just up past here, said it was very creepy at night
Is that just behind the governors?
@@AbandonedNi last building on the left , up through the arch , said she left food out for cats, and foxes would eat it , her apartment was very hard to heat, but she wasn't frightened living there , she was born in a forest beside a big river in Lithuania, she's fearless, must be to take up with me lol 😂
@@AbandonedNi do you think you could get permission to look around StLucia barracks adjacent to here?, it would be very interesting too , apparently the plans got mixed up and the barracks plans were meant to be used in a barracks abroad
So important to preserve all this history. Good or bad it is all part of the history of our island. We are the custodians for future generations.
Where abouts is this Forest please?
Garavagh in Co L/Derry
Wow that was amazing thanks for sharing!! You are very brave. Where is the High School? Its funny a lot of Schools are knocked down once no longer in use, or sealed off completely so you cant get in. I wish my old School was still standing it would be such a nostalgia but i remember it all clear as day
Lov ur videos, wish u would do more ❤
