The Mig 25/31 is the reason the SR71 was put out of service, the Mig31 can literally shoot down low orbiting satelites.

The Mig 25 was made to intercept nuclear bombers over ussr's large territory it has to be fast and needed a good range If you put a missile bus like that in a dogfight its getting destroyed

F-15 was meant to be a fighter MIG-25 is an interceptor 2 totally diferent roles, so you cannot really compare them

The aircraft was able to go over mach 3 without any damage to the structural integrity or the fuselage but the engines got permanently damaged as result. There was however a case of the blackbird literally disintegrating reaching that speed.

@@Silver_Prussian I dont relly know anything about a sr 71 disintergrating at mach 3 but I can for sure say that this plane could easily fly upto 100 hours even after the it was pushed to such extremes, atleast that was what my father told me. But he said it was always nerve racking as he said the plane didnt like losing speed and if anything went wrong you were basically dead which was why most Mig 25s had their engines replaced accourding to him, it was for safety reasons

​@@atom1236 f15 создан как боевой истребитель, а миг - перехватчик. Сравнивать их это смешно, ибо у них разные задачи. Да и проблема МИГ-а была в его массе , обусловленной основным материалом изготовления - сталь. Это был распространенный и дешёвый материал, подходящий под требования.

@@rajaydon1893 No it doesn't, the MiG-25 had an abysmal radar, 600 KILOWATTS, and it lacked look down capability, the R-40 missiles had a very poor accuracy, both the IRST and Radar variants, and the MiG-25 even got shotdown by a F-5 Tiger II, even as an interceptor, it did its job poorly, mostly due to the fact that it had a very low range, and an F-4 could've probably catch up a MiG-25 if giving the right conditions, considering the MiG-25 had difficulties going above Mach 2.8 as this would heat up the airframe to a point in which fuel would start boiling and the engines would start melting their SINGLE STAGE turbine due to the heating from the poor design of the combustor liners of the R-15 engine.
