Cold water surfing is so different from warm water surfing. If you're used to one, the other can be shocking. However the benefits to cold water surfing are many: you often have the beach to yourself, you will never sleep better, it cures anxiety, makes you feel more alive and allows you to learn how to surf without needing to travel somewhere warm, which is usually more popular and more expensive

Ahoy So just want to give credit to late duane ciaglo, greg kitto, louis powell, lance slabbert, Brett shaw for some of those clips. The Gotcha Experiencia 2000. what a flippen trip. Remember lulu hassling me every morning - to go shoot was always so amped to get bombs and footage on that trip. + Many epic sessions down south. Incredible surfer with tons of passion for the sport. Def one of the best goofy riders in SA. Onto the “Good Wave” by some miracle I have hung onto the DVD for that event for the 20+ years sadly DVDs don’t fare well with age. Did everything I could to try digitise this one and only managed to get to 11 min of the broadcast. Which in my opinion was the best segments of that contest. So this edit shows lulus round 1 heat. Recall as lulu mentioned it getting pretty heavy and messy as the day progressed. Only other guy that may have is brett shaw. If anyone else has full episode swing it our way please. Anyways well done bru stoked you rocking. 🙌 thanks for the good times and stoke.

Bru, ya chooning us Durban okes lank swak. But it’s true, compared to jumping off the rocks at St Mike’s, Durbs is easy. But I’m from Pinetown bru, we had it hard, we were not welcomed at any beaches. Closest I got to Snake Park shore break was putting my baggies on. Two klaps later, it was back to Addington. Plus we only started when we were 15, cos Pinetown is 20 clicks from the beach. So when I got my drivers license, we bypassed Durbs and discovered The Spot, Green Point, Happy Wanderers, High Rocks. Now this I remember well, Baron Stander chooned my name on the surf report that I’d made it into the Natal Junior Trials along with Mike Burness, Craig Simms, Marc Price, Dave Hansen, Peter Lawson, etc. Did I waai, nooit, I hit the south coast and never surfed another contest until I entered the British Champs 20 years later and scooped the Masters Title, which was a mission because the Newquay boys were miffed knowing I was a Saffa so had to pull out the passport, it chooned born in Essex. LOL When ya start scraping barrel for interviews, choon me bru. 😀
