Poker Vlog #6 - Back at the Poker Club

Hey everyone. In this episode I head back to the Post Oak Poker Club in Houston, TX. There are hourly fees instead of rake at this club. Let me know you thoughts, is it worth paying these fees or paying the $50 or so in gas money to drive to Louisiana and pay a 10% rake. Regardless, the Post Oak Poker Club is a very nice establishment and highly recommended. Feel free to leave comments below an...

Poker Vlog #2 - Louisiana - August 2017
man I gotta get to TX for some poker... totally diff game here in CA
77: Put more money in on the turn. Two flush draws and some big pair possibilities. Get the money while villain is still willing to pay. I'd overbet 125. K5s: This is a spot for a river bluff since your 5 is likely not good.
Does TCH have Beginner Friendly tables? Trying to transition into live play.
Hey Jason how do you keep notes when you play, notepad, iphone? Is it very hard to remember and write down everything?
It’s very difficult, especially if you’re involved in the next hand as well. I usually take notes on my phone, but sometimes dealers won’t let you be on your phone if you have cards in front of you. So I have a notepad as well.
You call someone's all in, you make them show. I really wanted to see what he had and stopped watching after that.
Great vlogs dude
Great video! Keep it up
is the 1/2 game a match the stack game?
The $1/2 is a max buy-in of $300. The $1/3 is match the stack.
STACK SIZES would be a welcome addition.
K9 hand is a bet/fold on River. He’s never shoving a 7 of spades or worse.
I liked your narration on the hands.
Soo many experts, why are they all watching low limit poker videos? Why don't you ask questions, instead of preach like a wanna be sensei. Do these people have no one who gives 2 fuks about their opinion in real life? Yeah that's probably it. 😅
JJ: You made it sound like you wanted to bet on the river but checked because you were afraid of better hands. There is no reason to bet here if you think villain has only either hands that will beat you or worse hands that will fold. Just check and take your equity. KJs: I think I'd raise somewhere here, most likely on the turn after villain's tiny turn bet. KQs: I don't raise the river here. When villain is likely bluffing but could have a better hand, there's no reason to raise. His check to you on the turn is procedural. He can conceivably have the flush.
Thanks for the feedback!
You are not indicating your stack size in these hands, which is really important in tournament poker. QJs: One thing to remember, especially in tournament play where you cannot add on to your stack, is that you need to not bet quite so thinly. I'd probably check the river and then call any reasonable bet because villain cannot continue with much worse than Jx. JJ: Were you turning a set into a bluff here? You're IP and can check down. What better hands fold here? What worse hands call? K9s: A bet on the flop when you limp in preflop in not cbetting. You are leading. Between the QQ hand and the A2o hand, you lost 30k chips, almost 60% of your stack. Same thing on the J5s hand. What happened in between?
Thanks for the feedback. I recall I had pocket 9’s in between one of those hands and called a hefty raise preflop, then the board was too wet to continue, so I folded. Couldn’t remember all the details. But sometimes I’ll get reportable hands back to back, haven’t even started taking notes on the first yet, and have to play the second hand. Will have to make a choice as to which hand to report as I need to focus on game play. Takes a bit to write these hands down during play. Will be putting together a new video this weekend based on the cash games I played at 3 casinos in Vegas post WSOP. Didn’t write down stack sizes while taking notes at the time, but will make a point to write down in the future if I am able.
Let me start by saying that I love that you are not afraid to bet the size of the pot. Many live low limit players bet tiny nearly all the time unless they are trying to get draws to fold, which makes them completely transparent. 74s: I think preflop was fine. I'd just shove this turn. No reason to allow a scare card on the river that will dry up the action, especially if you believe he has Kx. You got exactly the card you wanted. Go for it all now. Villain was SB. You paid to see his cards, and you want to know what he is 3betting! Wait for him to show! You did this a few times. AQs: I would definitely squeeze here. Your chances of winning oop decrease more than your share of the pot as more people enter. 99: A squeeze is a 3bet after a raise and call(s). This was not a squeeze. It's a cold 4bet (4betting after a raise and 3bet as your first action, rather than raising, getting 3bet, then 4betting when action gets back to you). This was a strange check back by villain on the flop. I thought maybe he had QQ or JJ. Only thing that makes sense (with his actual hand) is that he was afraid of the QJ and decided to treat his hand as a showdown hand until the A hit the turn. I think you lost out on some value here by not overbetting either the turn or river. A hand like QQ likely isn't calling no matter what (except as a possible blocker), so go after the 2pr and Ax hands. QJs: I think maybe checking river (inducing a bluff or thin value bet) might have been the only way to get some more value.
Thank you for the feedback!
Always let the other guy open he's hand when he goes all in and you call just so we can see what he had as a viewer it makes it more interesting for uss
I suggest showing the effective stacks, say, under your position in the graphic. That allows us to follow bet sizing. Love all the other included info. Some newer vloggers do not include positions, which makes keeping track of the action somewhat difficult. Also it would be great to know how long you played so we can get an idea of your hourly winrate.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Hey Jason can I ask a couple questions. Is tch Houston time based like the Dallas ones? Additionally, how do you make the card graphics?
Absolutely. Yes, TCH Houston is time-based. I get most of my graphics from Adobe Stock, then crop, if needed, and import into Premiere Pro for overall video editing.
@@jasonbell-poker thank you!
Nice intro graphics
I didn't think TCH Houston was allowing filming. Did you have a specific conversation about it with them? Cheers from one Houston player to another. Great quality content here. Subbed!
Thank you! Yep, emailed and met with a manager beforehand, have to follow a specific rule-set for filming. BTW, PV12 incoming in the next day or two.
5:08 gutter to what?
He me dad
Great Content! 👍😎
Nice. I don’t know if I would of done it but he took a weird line
TCH Houston?
Yep
I live in Houston and play at TCH also.
Cool vid. One thing though On the flop when someone bets and you raise it is not a 3-bet. It’s just a raise , the second bet if you will. If they were to re-raise that would be a 3-bet.
11:15. You should not be mad. Worse hands are not calling there, and the only reason you got any extra value was that he hit the nine that was not a mistake, that was optimal..
First hand of the night your either picking your skin or they don’t clean the felt lol
That place doesn't even have business
We get 6+ cash tables on a regular day and 10+ on weekends so idk what Texas card house you’re talking about
Case clearly playing the one two game over there might need to learn to play a little bit better and start using training sites because this is funny to watch you play
The camera angle is too low.
STOP SHOWING YOUR CARDS!!!!!! Trust me.... You are giving away too much information!
Too late for that. Hes already recording all of them and putting them up on the internet
Facts. And how likely is a 1/3 player to use whatever information they do see accurately and exploit you 😂
Pocket fours play great multiway, the goal is to flop a set stack as many people as possible. We don't set mine just to take it heads up. Also there's no point in putting out a feeler bet with pocket fours, what exactly are you feeling for? You're clearly behind 90% of hands. The goal when betting here is just as a cheap bluff to make someone fold their equity, particularly if they just have random overcards.
I enjoy the simple and clear format you're using for your video overlays. What tool did you use to make changing the wording in yoiur overlays easier?
Thank you! I use Adobe Premiere Pro as the editing software and use Adobe Express to make the Hero, Villain, board boxes, etc. For the wording, I use the text function in Premiere Pro.
Good session man, you had some good reads, I will say instead of...what he has?, maybe instead what does his range look like?
Yeah, there’s a learning curve putting these videos together. Whether it’s finding my style in the graphics or in the audio. Getting closer with each video. Appreciate the feedback!
Really need basic information like, stakes, starting stack??
Could play a drinking game every time you say “ I go ahead”.
Only 5 minutes in, and I think I might die from alcohol poisoning if we play this game 😅
Replace "go ahead" with "literally", kinda feels like a nervous tick... It just doesn't add anything to the commentary
Haha, I like it!
I was one of the two that subscribed at the table ‼️🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
Awesome, enjoyed playing with you!
I’m trying to think of ways you could have played worse and yet I can’t
That is not back door draws..
what back door draw do you have? hearts are front door. back door draws would be something like 9x or 5x or any hand with 1 heart .
Yeah, misspoke on this one. Thanks for the feedback!
20% equity all in?
Like your graphics and what not man. Just found you, good stuff.
Positions matter don't 3 bet kqs vs utg, unless you know he's opening wide. Q10 well played.
mandatory bet on the river with your hand you can get value from Ax and straights. Talking K7hh
Live within driving distance to Katy. Haven't played in Houston area due to the rake in Houston area poker rooms. Victoria, San Antonio, Austin all charging an hourly fee instead of a rake or drop. How much is being taken out of the pot by the house? When? On the flop? What's the cap? For me, it's about the same distance to Katy as to San Antonio, Austin or Victoria.
Paying hourly is way better than rake, your best choice is to go to Austin, more specifically the lodge
The games are way better in Houston, especially plo. I try and stay away from raked, but the $5 a pot places aren’t horrible. Still not as good as hourly, but eventually everything will be raked, just a matter of legislation being passed. San Antonio has next best plo. Dallas has next best holdem. I would put Austin at 3. I live in College Station and work in Dallas regularly. Lots of experience playing at several places/towns. I think this is due to the Houston scene being a few years older than the rest.
@@timothykyllonen9628 Dallas holdem is 1000000% better than Houston
Champions Club & TCH both hourly charge.
12 an hour at TCH on Westheimer plus a 10 dollar day rate. They have discounts if you buy bulk hours and the field is soft . It’s 100% worth your time.
Keep up the good work 👍
Still playing poker? I had a couple of your videos in my watch later folder for probably 3 years and finally got around to watching them.
Old vlog I know, did you quit vlogging forever? You bet to small with TPTK and too much with Top-sets. That's my opinion.
