Tried a bunch of different stuff to find the fish, but we soon found they were right under our feet. Vertical jigging got us on a bunch of cool species as well as some fish to fry. HEY! I ended up doing more research on the weakfish I was catching in this video and I figured it was worth sharing. Although we were technically correct in calling these weakfish, they are not the same species that ...

That’s cool to see someone fishing are local lakes.
Exploring the local spots around you is one of the best things to do! Thanks for the comment.
never set the hook on first fish at all
I'd like to say I did my best to, but that fish threw it pretty soon after so it must've not been enough.
Whats the rod you used, ice fishing? Fiber glass?
It’s a custom 4ft fiberglass ice rod. Was made by my grandfather while he was still in business.
Great video, I also never go out without a trash bag. It’s essential
Thank you and keep it up, someone has to pick up slack for the litter bugs.
did all for the snookie 🙌
I won’t lie, that I can’t deny 🗣️
Yessir!!
Yeah buddy!
Oh Gavin, the waters will always be there, With fish that swim in currents calm and fair. But maybe, just this once, you could explore A new adventure waiting at your door? The rod can rest, the river’s gentle hum, While in the Rift, exciting battles come. No need for bait, just strategy and skill, A different kind of challenge, if you will. The fish can wait, they’ll always swim nearby, But in the game, new victories could lie. So take a break, the streams will still be free- Perhaps the Rift holds something you should see.
My fishing is unstoppable.
Trout bait
I'm in my 60s and your doing my favorite thing to do. Used to walk,or ride my bike for miles to explore new creeks as a kid .SW Ohio love it.
That’s awesome! There’s so much cool stuff to find in even small creeks like this one. Thank you for the comment.
The soon to be pyke main caught a massive pike
I am too busy catching fish to play League of Legends bro.
Just came across your video randomly. You just got a new subscriber lol. Love the vid man
Awesome man, welcome to the channel! Thank you!
Capt Ron's insect spray!!! But it online thank me later.
I’ll have to check that one out, thanks for the suggestion!
What lake is this and in which state?
This was in Michigan, but I abstain from giving specific locations.
Yayyy UL video!!!
I know I’m stoked abt it, glad you are too man!
Hello, what setup are you using? Thanks for the video!
4ft ul dock rod I think made by his grandfather and a Pfluegar President
Hey, @22lbsboost is correct. I’m running a Pflueger President 20 (the smallest model) on a custom 4 footer. Thank you for the comment!
Amazing but where’s miles
In another state unfortunately, gotta fish with him in Michigan sometime lol.
What’s the spot?
32.74817° N, 97.36059° W
That intro gave off steve irwin vibes and im here for it
Considering how epic Steve Irwin is, this is a good comment to see.
Babe wake up Gavin video just dropped
I know this guy named diego, he knows a lot about marine biology. You guys should chat.
Really?
Love watching your videos! Your such a cool and insightful person!
I really appreciate that, thank you for the wholesome comment.
Epic fishing 🎣
Agreed, thank you!
As someone that basically only fishes freshwater unless on a deep sea charter trip, I had no idea there is saltwater catfish that was sick
They are cool fish for sure. They get a bad rap from some fishermen since they can be bait-stealers, slime everything, and have a super painful sting. However, the gafftopsail catfish in this video put up a respectable fight, are pretty easy to catch, and even taste good.
Good to see you back again after a 3-month siesta.
It’s good to be back haha, thank you!
Sick! Pscyhed
As am I, heck yeah!
Let’s goooooooo
Back in the game
Permit for me rowdy😂
If a fish like that doesn’t get you psyched then something is wrong.
What a weekend can’t wait to do it again brotha. Great video
Thank you man, we gotta run it back for sure!
Thanks for cleaning man! Great video!
Thank you too, I thoroughly enjoyed making this video so I’m glad you and others liked it.
@@GavinGalka Are you in Upstate NY ?
I’m in southern Michigan.
@@GavinGalka Very similar fishing to here in NY.
@@getoutsidefishing From what I have seen it seems like it, but I would still love to get over there and fish sometime.
It’s really beautiful to see the fish in the photo tank!
I agree, photo tanks make a world of a difference for viewing small fish.
More peacocks closer to Miami. Not sure how deep you guys are
So I've heard, I would like to head all the way over some time for some fishing. Fortunately, we've been able to find peas that are fairly local.
Heading down that way from Louisiana, would you care to send me a pin where I can fish off the dirt roads? I fished tamiami but off that crazy hwy and I'll have elderly dad with me so I want to get off the road. Thanks for any help
I hope you will be understanding of the fact that I do not share any pinned locations. However, I can try to help the best I can without sharing a specific location. Many dirt road spots we found had an open area for fishing access. These were secondary roads off of Tamiami and generally at culverts or bridges where water could pass under the road. Other spots with good access are the boat ramps on I-75. I don't know how familiar you already are with these but they are generally safer to fish since your back is to a parking lot rather than moving traffic.
Unreal video! Love the comments! Let’s keep it rolling!
Thanks man, I’m certain it will keep rolling.
Oh captain, my captain 🫡
Sick vid gav man! would definitely go the extra mile for miles too.
Thanks dude! It seems many would do the same.
How much snook could a snook snook snook if a snook could snook snook?
My brain is hurting, but maybe seven snook idk.
Miles looks like he really knows what he’s doing. I know a fisherman when I see one
Miles hooks those fish so good
Miles was dialed in
I love seeing men at work
Couldn’t agree more, they’re a fantastic Australian band.
@@TheGuglerl love the view (of miles ofc)
Can you and miles come talk about fish at my school?
I don’t know, we’re both pretty booked.
Miles can’t come within 500ft of a school unfortunately
7:24 i would've feed the invasive species to the gator. i don't put invasive fish back into the water.
Due to current state law, I would have to advise against that.
Good vid kid . .. ..👍
Thank you 👍
This video made me feel tingly inside!
I know you were waiting for me to catch a big fish
Miles makes me feel that way too

That Jack was nice! how heavy is your line and what reel are you using?
Agreed, thank you! I was using a Diawa BG 2500 spooled with 10lb braid and 20lb mono leader.
Miles should come to the mangrove swamp, need 2 master fisherman on the screen at once
Boy do we have a show for you… 🤫
I need two men on this
Bro that one jack was jacked

Try off deep woods dry works wonders for me
I've tried it before, might have to try it again. I appreciate the suggestion!
Definitely gonna try out the size 26 setup. My girlfriend and I hardly got to utilize our licenses last year, but this really opened me up to what's possible. We've done macroinvertebrate collection quite a bit, and we may get the rare fish occasionally in the kick seine, but for the most part, I'm always left wondering what's around us. My stream ecology class did electofishing with our DNR, so we got to see a lot of what was native, but I don't have the trained eye to identify from afar, so this is an awesome way to start getting more proficient, while also having a chill time on the creek. Thanks for sharing man.
That's great to hear man, definitely try out the micro fishing. It is a great way to familiarize yourself with the smaller natives that most people (perhaps even most fishermen) just know as minnows/baitfish. Hope you get the most out of your license this year and thank you for the comment!
Gotta get a thermacell for the bugs brotha
I will have to look into that, thankfully I haven't found the bugs to be too bad right now during the winter/dry season, but sometimes they are a pain. Thank you for the suggestion!
Alright I'm coming down to south Florida tomorrow for 5 days. I'll be turkey hunting in big cypress but I'm really hoping to find a few canals or culverts to fish exactly like this. No idea where to go exactly but I'm sure there's a million little spots full of fish. Peacock bass is my target
Awesome, Big Cypress is a beautiful place and its been pretty nice down here. You shouldn't have a hard time finding spots to fish, keep an eye on Maps/Google Earth, hope your outings are successful.
The most slabbadocious day of fishing I’ve ever experienced captured in 4k by the Thin White Duke of Fishing himself. What a vid bro
