I don't have any insider connections; just another fan who had an awesome friend that was somehow able to find this tape on eBay and got it for me as a gift! 😄 But now that I know about these other demos, I'm certainly going to be on the lookout for them!

@@JoshuaPressley-nz9uh Since you mentioned that you checked out the Google Drive folder, I'm assuming you saw all of my other Steve Augeri posts, including the Tall Stories and Tyketto concerts and the Journey Japanese -exclusive bonus tracks. But in case you didn't, definitely check those out!

This version of this song isn’t on streaming versions of Revelation just because it was a Japanese exclusive, I think. Although, I wonder if Japanese customers can get it on Spotify or Apple Music. 🤔 I think Generations is missing from streaming because it was released on Sanctuary Records, which is now defunct. So there’s probably some complicated rights issues, and since the record company doesn’t exist anymore, that just make it hard to acquire the rights. (I believe Judas Priest has a similar issue with their albums that were made when Tim “Ripper” Owens was singing.)

Hopefully a few listens to this song can fill that place. 😁❤️

@@Mr._Mints ah, My man. Yes, You got it. Their 3 albums are stellar. Self titled, Voodoo highway, and Dusk. The later is more of a posthumous one, made out off their demos in hope to get a record deal, while the production is raw, the sound is neat, the band did all of it first take, some imperfections here and there, but band was tight as phuck. Their live gigs are in a class only tall stories were. We're talking apex predator kinda bands, the way i see them. When i discovered both bands, goodbye to guns n roses, motley crue, dokken, cindyrella, and many others. Life changing music, indeed.

The generic answer as to why Japanese bonus tracks exist at all is due to the economics of CD production, as I understand it. I guess that CDs produced outside of Japan are cheaper than those produced in Japan, even when considering import costs, so to entice Japanese music fans to buy domestically, and support their own economy and industry, Japanese record labels push to get bonus tracks on their version of the album. As for why they chose this song specifically, though, I can’t say. But I agree, it could’ve been on the main album!

Augeri had a “shell” of a voice compared to Arnel… Arnel had the pipes for Journey. I saw them with Augeri- his voice got completely drowned out by the band- simply lacked the power. Saw them live with Augeri… could not believe the vocal POWER that came out of that short man….I was BLOWN AWAY.

Steve Augerie cant went up in chorus... His version is bland compare to this rock and roll so better

It is indeed a studio version. But this is also from 2009… Arnel’s voice has certainly aged over the 15 years since. But I’d still say it sounds like him. And he still sounds pretty good live, in my opinion! Sure, there might be some notes that are getting a bit harder for him to reach, but he still does a great job overall!

Musically and sonically , this version sounds better because it’s in a lower key than the other version! Plus, Neal’s playing sounds richer! Honestly, I’m more about the music than the singer! Tomoto tomato! 👍

You're welcome! Once I found these recordings, I knew I couldn't keep them to myself! And I agree! Shine is a fantastic album!

Steve agrees that they should've changed the name, according to a fairly recent interview I watched with him. I was also surprised to find these bootlegs! I got this one from the guy who recorded it. And he passed the (Lyon show that I also posted) along to me from its original taper. I just got lucky enough to connect with him in a social media fan page!

@@Mr._Mints Well you found a treasure! I've always loved Steve and have the Tall Stories albums and thought he was awesome in journey until his voice gave out. The Shine album had a different vibe to it than the first two records, but the songs were really solid and fit his voice nicely.
