What's up guys, I am DJ Mike James... I am a full service mobile DJ based out of central Illinois. For most of my life, I had been a live musical performer, working in numerous bands playing rhythm guitar, singing and playing bass, spending hour upon hour honing my craft, learning my equipment to be the best that I could be. However, having to rely on others to care enough to prepare at the same level or even show up was extremely frustrating. So when I got the opportunity to DJ almost 10 years ago, it was liberating, what a change, every note, tempo and voicing is easily perfect and I've been hooked every since. Along with my level of professionalism, care, compassion and hard work has opened new doors for me n the world of DJ'n so make sure you follow my journey as we explore equipment, technology and performances, gig logs, product reviews, hints, tips and tricks related to DJ'n, wiring, products and set ups... So, make sure you follow along and please Like, Comment and SUBSCRIBE!!!

Onforu 100W LED Black Light 30 watt white flood light
Hi, can anyone help please. Is it possible to have intermittent pulses/flash of red only? Thanks
Hi @DJMikeJames, nice video. I’m eyeing the 8 pack of these lights with the chargeable flight case and I was just checking out some video reviews of this product. I was wondering for the par’s built in Wi-Fi DMX feature, do you need to have the Rockville transmitter dongle to control the lights or can you use the Donners Dongles or Chauvet Wireless DMX Transmitter Dongles? I’m planning on controlling the lights wirelessly using my SoundSwitch Control One Device.
The lights themselves have wireless dmx antennas built into them, so depending on which version you end up getting the original version had the (7) 2.4ghz color groups and at that point set in a dmx color group you'd control them like any other fixture. The next generation fixtures, like my RF3's only have 4 dmx color groups, but way more remote functions for grouping, so as long as you have the dmx color group matched up any transmitter will control them...
I can see them on top of your totomes. Nice light.
Yes sir... that's where they're going! Now that I can fly mount my ADJ Boombox FX2'S directly to my speakers, I'll have the option of having different lighting levels, as is so popular right now, and look super clean doing it, plus they'll be a great addition to my truss set up! We'll see them at the end of the year event in December
Nice video, how safe are these in terms of potential eye/skin damage?
Taking into consideration that there is always inherent danger when using any laser...these are probably 300-500mW, so relatively low power... minimal skin damage risk if any, however it is recommended not to have this or any laser hit folks directly in the eyes, but these are about the lowest laser wattage you can buy! I hope this answers your question 🙏 Thanks for watching 👀 and commenting
@@DJMikeJamesThank you Mike.
This is a real basic question but How would I go about getting them to react to a midi or a line input? Trying to trigger with my electric drums
I hear ya... a company just contacted me about reviewing a midi controller and I was thinking the same thing about trying to possibly wirelessly control different fixtures with it, so I'm definitely curious! If they do go through and send it to me. I'll begin researching how and if it can be done so stay tuned! Also, if you figure it out please let me know so as to speed up my learning curve!!! TIA Thanks for watching 👀 and commenting
@@DJMikeJames no prob. There is a guy that did it in RUclips with an Adreno slave computer or whatever but it looked like a lot of work. I’m really surprised no one has developed a plug and play way of doing it
@@DJMikeJames hey after we chatted I found the Boomlights LC8. Check that out, and send me one lol
I know these aren't uplights but how effective would they be to shoot straight up a wall?
These are great as uplights... decent power and Beam angle and really affordable! My only issue is having to find a way to plug them all in at a venue... Thanks for watching 👀 and commenting
They do shoot up the wall about 6-8 ft. 5 adjustable brightness levels
@@TroyShahanMusic Thanks for replying guys. Problem is I have a gig in the middle of September and ordering from China I'm looking at 2 months shipping time estimated and ordering from dealer here in the states is doubling the price. I thought I found my solution. But I guess it's not to be. Unless one of you guys are willing to sell your used gear. lol. The search continues.......
Sorry to bother you, one other question. If I know my event is going to go longer than what the batteries allow would I be able to plug this in an outlet and still run them, bypassing the battery operation? I'm sure it's yes , but I'm not positive it's yes.
Normally, I would say yes of course you can... However, these particular lights are not battery operated! They are hard wired and would all need to be plugged in at all times!
Can these be DMXs?
Yes they can... If using a dmx controller they have the 7 dmx 2.4mhz color groups and can be dmx'd internally, however watch my follow up video on comparing uplights and issues with dmx and the remotes. It'll be helpful to understand how to and their limitations. Thanks for watching 👀 and commenting

Thank you @@DJMikeJames
are you by any chanse using magicQ? I cannot find this beam in the patch folder.. how were u able to patch it?
I am not... in this video I just have them running master-slave in reverse pan and tilt. I'm not sure if anyone has made a dmx patch for this particular fixture in any of the dmx software packages as I am no longer using these, however still fun little fixtures as an accent mover, they're awesome! Thanks for watching 👀 and commenting!
nice set up, are you able to control the wedges and RF3 with 1 control? or do you have them on DMX?
The rockwedges are wirelessly dmx'd together as you can still use the ir remote to control them... the mini RF1's are set in 2 static colors in this case themed blue and gold (wedding colors) and can still all be controlled with the rf remote at the same time... the new mini RF3's have more control and color group options in the rf remote, which is awesome, but still have limited dmx capabilities without using a wireless dmx controller 😉 I do have more in depth videos up going over the more technical aspects of these fixtures...if ya get a minute, check em out! As always, thanks for watching 👀 and commenting
Hey what is the photobooth app you use on your ipad please? I heard you say the words but I still don't know what they are hahaa maybe as I'm Aussie
cancel that found it on another of your videos ChackTok app :)
No worries my friend... the software that came with the photo booth is called Chacktok a bit limited, but super affordable compared to say the big 3, as I'll be practically using this software at gigs soon... videos to come! Thanks for watching 👀 and commenting
Awesome super cool laser
Thank you for watching 👀 and commenting!!
Change pole cup in subwoofer to the same type of pole you like best. Only 4 screws. Always get your top speakers as high as possible for best coverage.
Agreed, and I could change out the top hats, but I really like the recessed Peavey top hats as they sit down in there and are threaded for extra piece of mind... I'm just glad I was able to find an aftermarket product that marries up to top hats I already had!!! Thanks for watching 👀 and commenting
We have 24 of them. Love them and for changing I will send you a pic through IM..
Yes!!! I definitely love the upgraded tech and function of the new RF3'S! I currently have 8 of them plus 12 rockwedges! Pound for pound, the best uplights in the game, when considering price vs function! Thanks for watching 👀 and commenting Mike!!!
Looks like the kids were having a Blast!!!Great job @djmikejames
It's getting tougher to get em going and still stay school compliant, but it's always a good time, if only I could get someone to load in and out for me... sucks getting old lol! Thanks for watching 👀 and commenting Mike!
I got 4 of them and love them!!
Awesome Mike, they're really cool pixel bars... so many features and functions especially daisy chained and dmx'd so many chase scenes and functions! Thanks for watching 👀 and commenting
I hate to be nitpicky but your bar on the right is not level 😊
And yet... no worries my good man, purely demonstration only! I honestly wish I would've moved the laser bars up (horizontally) across the top, like halfway through, to give a more dynamic presentation because these lights are amazing! Thanks for watching 👀 and commenting!
How did you get them to do same chase at same time? Also, did you mount these or just lay facing down and lay facing up? I have that exact booth cover so I think we have the same booth!
ProX xf-mesa mk2 is an amazing booth... I have them dmx'd together to run the same pattern and the light on bottom is facing up on its (feet) while the light on the top (master) is mounted with J clamps to the top rail facing down with the menu out, so I could just reach over and change the menu/show and they both change. Thanks for watching 👀 and commenting
It's not a bad light for a beginner. I think the lights that you have are better and can be DMX. Looked good at the bar. Great video, sir!
Agreed, they won't replace my ADJ lights, but definitely fun and light weight for someone starting out and needing coverage! I would've used them back in the day... Thanks for watching 👀
Great video I had seen these on Amazon and ordered one for backyard parties to go along with some of my other lights that I have. I agree they are nice but they don't compare to other lights that can be run on DMX. But for smaller parties with some other lights with it I think it'll work for what it is. I also agree it's more of a Beginner light set-up. Thank you for making this video.
These look great. I believe the defused lighting effect is where it’s at nowadays. Almost like people want this more gentle colouring wash of the whole room vs Pilar’s of course lights and the resulting washes out areas that pop up in photographs that happen with focused lighting. The 75 buck price tag is quite good for the length of the bar and brightness. Great video.
I'm beginning to agree with you there... these eye candy pixel lights are gaining popularity across the industry as many of the bigger companies all have a version now, whether diffused or not and I think it's for the reasons you just stated... they're ambient, eye catching and have a ton of features and functions and the price point (it was Father's Day weekend) isn't so expensive you couldn't get a couple sets of them for a balanced stage set up... Hey, thanks for watching 👀 and commenting
Nice
Thanks for watching 👀 and commenting
Best of luck I'm brand new too to the photo booth business . Try lumabooth for your software
bought the ehaho laser in uk andAprox four of my animations are missing , would they be available in dmx modes? dancinc girls, two hearts with wings and one or two others, thanks for the vid
You could try to run the laser with all the animations as master and see if the slave will reproduce them, but there's really no way to add animations to the programming of these, they are factory programmed and it may need to be returned...
@@DJMikeJames much appreciated , apart from missing animations i like it , be great for the youth club , still might get another aftetv watching your vid, thanks again.
Cool video. How do you get these lights move in tandem with each other. Is one set to master and one to slave? I am trying to learn more about lighting as well. Thanks very much!
They will move in tandem in master slave with a dmx cable and you'd have the master run an auto show or sound active mode... These are wirelessly dmx'd to a dmx controller and then you can program them to do whatever you want... Thanks for watching 👀 and commenting
Thanks for the great video comparing lasers. Which haze machine did you use for this demonstration? Thanks!
I used the ADJ Entourage Fazer/Hazer... The link is below amzn.to/3Xoapd4 Thanks for watching 👀 and commenting!
You both are stepping up the lighting game and adding a lot of lights. But Is the next video gonna be on a DJ controller?
Recently, I've connected with an Elite Spin Master DJ here in the central Illinois area who's willing to work with me and has invited me to some of his shows so I can understudy and learn the digital manipulation side of this business, however I'm still working on acquiring the controller I'd like to get started on, but as an actual former musician I'm looking forward to manipulating others people's work, so I can call myself an "artist"... again 😉
Nice plan!!!
Excellent !1 review !
Thank you! 😊 Thanks for watching 👀!
Just got a set!!! Thanks for Sharing!!
Awesome Mike 👌 These are definitely a game changer as far as your overall stage appearance and when uplit even better! If you watched my "how I transport these" video, I keep them 2/3 put together and carry them both in the Infanzia "45 canvas tote bag, a lil heavy, but I usually roll them in on my uplights road case with both base plates in one of the Rockville bags...
Is there any way to change the settings so that it only goes tilts down and straight. I’m putting it against a wall so I don’t want it shining on the wall, I only want it to move from 0 to 180 degrees, not the full 270 degrees
I know you can with a dmx controller, at that point you can create and save shows, in the fixture itself you can set the motor for uplighting but as far as limiting the parameters of the pan angle in an auto show or a sound active mode... I'm not sure that can be adjusted. Thanks for watching 👀 and commenting
Dear Mike where do you put your speakers at ? I like to run mine on sound.
In my setup, typically my speakers are on sub poles on either side of my booth with these lights pretty close to them...
Thank you so much for everything you did. Everyone loved the setup, and the songs were great. You did a good job. I just wish we had more people there who would have danced, but you killed it for those of us who did!
Thank you for everything and for having me... It was my pleasure!! I feel like we did everything right...it seems it's just the way receptions have been since covid!

Ur not fucken dj
Hi Mike , than ks for the review. I was wondering , have you tried this with sound switch? if so how has it worked out?
I have not... currently I'm not using any dmx software, at times, a wireless controller with with wireless receivers, but that's about the extent of it. Please let me know how it works for you if you do as I'm curious to know the extent of control the software gives you. Thanks for watching 👀 and commenting
Nice gig log sir! Love the look. Nice and clean.
Thanks Buddy! For watching 👀 and commenting! Appreciate ya
Some stages are Great if they are built correctly!! I played on a couple and they were hollow and I had to move the subs on to the floor. Congratulations on your 1000 Subscribers!!!!
This was a tough stage to load in and out on... plus been having issues with my back... sucks getting old... 😆 Thank you sir... it's been a long time coming, lots of gigs, product reviews, tech talks etc... only a little over 2 years lol... As always thanks for watching 👀 and commenting
@@DJMikeJames I hear you with the back issues. I had a spinal cord stimulator implanted in my back. It helps some with the neuropathy pain. My son does all my lifting and setup for me. I’m going to be 59 this year and truly does suck getting old.
Lol.. so now I know where I'll be in 8 years... I wish my son, who'll be 15 this year, was that helpful! Not so much... I defer to the wife and/or daughter... way more helpful
@@DJMikeJames my wife and daughter use help out also if I had a big event, but now my daughter is a dental hygienist and works a ton of hours and my wife is having her right hip replacement surgery and she has a difficult time walking and bending causes her to have excruciating pains. Did you see the new Rockville light hat was just released?
My honest thoughts. It was a small wedding and may not have worked, but quick mixing or transition mixing (playing about 2 minutes of a song) keeps people on the floor. Keeps the vibe going. I usually have to tell people last song at weddings because time is up. You should consider that next level DJ'ing.
I was doing that... my point was this reception started at 3pm and subsequently ended at 7pm, so open dance was roughly 5pm-ish and it was a drinking crowd but still a lot to ask to get folks fired up that early in the day! I miss the days of open dance being 8-10 or 9-11 and people stuck around to celebrate with the wedding party...
It's is totally different doing it with Spotify and the controller. Beat matching and transitioning at the right part of the song can't be done on Spotify. And the STEMs feature is a game changer. It makes DJ'ing alot interesting.
It looks like you are not aware of the danger of those 500mW red lasers. Never point them at anybody because they are able to damage eyesight or even blind people! They also easily damage camera sensors. Please be careful!
I am fully aware of the potential dangers of using lasers... Even though these are the lowest mW lasers in stage lighting production they still pose a danger for participants and that is taken seriously when placing a fixture like this at my events. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Audio doesn’t seem to be synced lol
Ya, something happened to the intro and box opening audio... mic wasn't on or something, so I cut the box opening and tried to voice-over the intro... maybe should've re-shot it, but production didn't want to... ugh
That age group is difficult to get dancing. I won't do events for elementary or middle school.
Agreed... and they're getting stricter on songs, It used to be if it was on the radio it would play, but now I have to screen songs by implied/content as well as profanity/explicit lyrics...
I am a photographer and I'm looking for a system that produces beams and different colors but need the option to stop them from moving. What would you recommend?
Honestly, check out my 9 eyed laser video... They are red, green and blue and they have the control options to use all or one color and you can stop the motors on them so they won't move. I'll look in to my animated lasers and see if they can be manipulated that way, but for what you're asking for, those may be the best option and they're super affordable. Thanks for watching 👀 and commenting!
How do you get full colors using dmx
I'm not sure what you're asking me, but these are set in a sound active auto show and dmx'd together 1 master and 3 slaves. Please be more specific and I'll try to provide an answer for ya! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Those lights are huge and bright. You can light up a whole party with just those two.
Yes... they are bright and do very well! I would recommend programming a show with a dmx controller for the best results! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hey is it possible to use the TRS input by the speakon input spot to a power speaker ?
Hey, technically those are outputs and they are powered, as a general rule I don't run power to power, but you can run a powered signal to a powered speaker, you may need to adjust volume/gain leveling but it should still work... Thanks for watching 👀 and commenting
@@DJMikeJames As I read and understand it you never run power to power.
Hi,. what is the name of the song starting at 4:00?
I credited the tracks in the description. I only used 2 backing tracks on this video but don't remember which us which... Thanks for watching 👀 and commenting
It's Hotham- The Funk.
New subscriber here. Just wondering which software do you use that's compatible with that printer? Thank you
Thanks for watching and subscribing... There are software packages you can use to connect with the printer "Air" something for Apple and another one for Android... However, I'm connecting the printer to the Wi-Fi share with my device and it shows up on my photo booth software as the default printer! Benefits to this is free and with the password it could print from any device connected to the same Wi-Fi...
Did they really have 180W ?
They are bright 🌞 The simple math of it is: 18 diodes x 10wt=180wt Even though wattage in this format usually implies power consumption, but as a way to add up light projection, I would say yes!
Nice photo booth. For me as DJ, I just want to concentrate on building and keeping energy for the guests and dancefloor. If you are flying solo and the photo booth has issues, how are you going to trouble shoot and still keep the energy? You almost need a 2nd person along just in case. In my mind, you can't do both at the same time.
Agreed! If I'm booked for dual services my wife and/or daughter will run the photo booth! There's No way that I could do both at the same time... Thanks for watching 👀 and commenting
Hello bravo for this video!, I bought the 3D animation L2600 RGB Laser Light model, but the manual is not clear, or rather it's aimed at professionals. Can you tell me how to choose just one animation (or two), for example, the stars, and have the laser stay on the chosen animation indefinitely? Best regards
Thank you! Unfortunately, these lower end lasers do not have this ability in the auto shows and they also do not have an ILDA port to be able to set those functions... however I have not tried programming the DMX functions to see if that could be achieved. I'll look into it and see what I can find out... Thanks for watching 👀 and commenting
