A little test using the awesome new plugin from KIT PLUGINS. A little studio test, showcasing an older style MAPEX BLACK PANTHER. This is the 14x6 PHOSPHOR BRONZE model, which has a fantastic ability to have the snap/stick attack of a metal shell, but with the 'body' of a wood shell mixed in.

Another Studio Snare test, this time using an old style 'Pre Black Panther' Mapex 13x3 Piccolo Maple Snare. Bought 2nd hand, I've cleaned it up, but it is currently missing a lug, so not able to tune to it's fullest range just yet. I used a Live version of a classic Peter Gabriel track, which I played very loosely in places to sadly, but a lot of fun to play to all the same.

Greetings do you know the weight aprox on Stagg Genghis Exo Series Medium Ride 21 in.
Amazon listing says 2240g, which sounds consistent with the cymbal we hear in the video. I have found Amazon's listings to be pretty accurate for Stagg cymbal weights.

@@DanMayhewDrummer I normally use 3. Two on top, SDM70 and a pencil condenser and another condenser on reso side. Need to start experimenting with shell as well 👍🏻

on the high end alctron is just as good as other clones so for snares alctron is a winner especially because of its price, but for vocals and acoustic guitars I find it's lacking low and mid responses. but you can still use EQ on the alctron and compensate for those lacking energy I think it's still a good deal for the price. Thank you for your shoot out!
Thanks for the comment and cool info @kangdylan 😎 tbh I only use mine for Drum Room (Avantone CK6), and Drum Hallway (Avantone CK7). I find it works great for this, especially driving the gain a fair bit, or for a really clean sound of the kit. I'm just having 4 of my GAP PRE73 MK III's upgraded this week, with Carnhill Input/Output transformers, and vintage Motorola 2N3055 Transistors 🙂 I think they will be very similar to the GAP Premier line of Pre73's then, or hopefully closer to the vintage Neve 73 sound in general.

Cheers @allymackechnie2100 Brother 😎 I didn't play it too accurately, as it was intended as more of a sound mix test, but was great fun 🙂 I did it back in Aug 21, and then forgot about it 😂
The snare sound on the album sounds like Lars is shooting the drum head with a .22LR... That whole album is a sonic masterpiece, almost over-engineered in a way with the massive layering of guitars, fat bass, and those incredibly mic'd, EQ'd and mixed drums. It's really impossible to fully capture the thickness of those songs in a live setting. However I like your video and for one setting it's a great effort. Over 30 years later and those songs still inspire people to play and recreate these gems. Cheers.

well.. all reports say that the internals of the alctron is indeed a GAP 73... so they are identical as far as I know.
