Los Colinas Swallows 2024 A New Beginning 10
The two survivors have left the nest. I missed the second chick leaving the nest, I think it was between two video segments (10 seconds). The chicks after enjoying their freedom, continued to return to the nest. My recordings since yesterday only amounted to 13 segments, most of these were of the empty nest. I have to admit that this has been fun and I hope everyone enjoyed the videos too.

This video shows the activity for 7/24 and some of 7/25. I think the babies are getting ready to leave the next. I tried to focus on just the babies when there was a lot of activity. I hope you enjoy.

The chicks are growing. There was enough activity to record 150 - 200 one minute segments. As a consequence I tried to reduce the amount of redundant segments and focus on the chicks. I hope you enjoy this video. Thanks to all those who liked the previous video. It helps make my effort worthwhile.

Be first to see the hatchlings. I am exited. This is the first time I have captured on video the chicks from eggs to peeking over the edge of the nest. This is kind of long, lots of things going on. Enjoy.

Still no peepers peeking over the edge of the nest. I you wonder about the numbering, I split the last video into two parts since it was so long. I sometimes think I should search for the time it takes for the eggs to hatch, but where is the fun in that?

The swallows are keeping busy. They seem to be leaving the next more often now. I still have seen a peepers peeking over the edge of the nest. these videos cover June 21 to July 3. Video segments are 2 minutes in length so if you notice some obvious disjoint segments, I have deleted much repetitious video.

It looked like the swallows are sitting on the eggs now. Once and a while they seemed to change places. I saw no tiny heads peeking over the edge of the nest. Look for next episode.

After sending the sole survivor off to find some friends the two swallows do something (?) in a flurry of activity. This video shows their activity until one swallow begins sitting on the nest.

This picks up from the end of Los Colinas Swallows 2024 2 . Last of the series. I am sad since it looks like only one chick survived. It has learned to fly and returned to the nest several times.

This picks up from the end of Los Colinas Swallows 2024 1. Wow, the babies are growing fast. They don't seem bothered by the heat. Feeding seems to be morning and evening. The original capture was a little over two hours of video most of which was repetitious. Don't be surprised if you find an editing error. I guess I wasn't at my best.

During the second week of May I noticed the swallows flyting around and what looked like working on last years nest. This video picks up when it looked like they were sitting on eggs. Towards the end, the adult behavior changed and three tiny heads appeared. Who will be the first to see them?

I was told of tree climbing foxes when I was on the farm in the Ozarks. I subsequently believed that it was just something they told "foreigners." Here is proof. Excuse the editing. This is the first time I tried to stitch two different views together.

Prowlers are welcome in my back yard anytime, my dogs will make sure they are taken care of, I have yet to find any remains of any prowler. 🤔

I like how the fox went about his business licking up whatever's in that dish, and almost seemed to forget the cat was there for a few seconds. Then it was like he would remember and go "Oh shit wait I have to be BIG!... Ok back to licking, hmm oh yea this is good oh yea. oh wait there's a cat I need to be BIG AGAIN!... Ok back to licking"

Foxes are part of the canine family but they act SO much more like cats...
Fox ain't going anywhere its the cats territory. It would destroy the fox to defend its home.

Thanks, once I had 3 here at the same time. There is an arroyo about a 10th of a mile from my house and I suspect that is where they live.
