Throughout Gus Malzahn's tenure I would always wish Scott Frost would come back, knowing he was never going to be successful at NEB (I mean, who has been since Osborne left?). This is a wish come true. Oh, and Andy-Stat Boy hasn't a clue. UCF is no longer a "step-up" school, for the right coach. Had Frost stayed at UCF, he would have had the Knights competing for national championships if not won one from ESPN's SEC yearly invitational already. Time for him to settle some unfinished business.

Mike G, I appreciate what you do and your takes. However, respectfully 7-5 is not very realistic with our current situation. UCF now has 27 players in the portal, which include 4 starting O-lineman, a starting tight end (Randy Pittman), two starting defensive tackles (Lee Hunter), & multiple young talent such as EJ Colson (QB), Chasen Johnson (DB) etc. On top of losing over a dozen starting Seniors with no eligibility left: RJ Harvey, Kobe Hudson, BJ Adams, Ricky Barber, Quadric Bullard, Deshawn Pace, Mac McWilliams, Ethan Barr, Peny Boone, Evan Morris, Johnny Richardson, Jesiah Pierre, Daylon Dotson, Gage King, Sheldon Arnold, Jacoby Jones, & will not be returning. This is NOT the same roster I think you last remember. We have hardly no upperclasman left & most of Malzahn's recruit classes have left now. This is a full rebuild, and the team will be lucky to get to a bowl game.

A college team is allowed to roster like 85 to 120 something players. a lot those players transferring probably didn't even start or see any playing time . Trust we will be ok.

Mike, Sorry, but you were wrong about 1 thing. Gus DID have a guy that could come in and win. The problem was Gus was married to a run first QB. Players were saying out of fall camp that Rizk was the best QB on the team.

I think he forgets, Frost didn't inherit Gus's UCF team. He inherited a team without Harvey and with the most transfer portal losses of any team in the big 12 and its coaches. Its a skeleton team and we will have to simply take what we can get this offseason just to make one. We barely have a team. His idea, that Frost can come in and take Gus's team to 7 wins with a floor of 6-6 is insane. We couldn't even field a team right now.

No offense but Mike G from UCF disregards the fact that almost half of all UCf players are currently in the portal. Unless Scott Frost can make miracles happen in the transfer portal, there's no way we're going to win six or seven games next season without players.

Noone ditched KJ Jefferson. He ditched the team after we handed him $500K to play like 🗑️.

More than half of our 2024 roster is currently in the transfer portal. Looking to go elsewhere. This is going to be a brutal rebuilding year but it will allow Scott Frost to chip away everything that was Gus's team and make it his own.

What do you mean by the “frost” effect? He hasn’t been successful majority of his seasons. I want to believe but I can’t believe our floor is 6-6.. This absolutely has a chance to go wrong.

Surprised you guys brought up the women and alcohol with Frost. I always figured those were rumors by unhappy Husker fans/boosters that wanted to undermine him and find an excuse to fire him. I haven't seen any real news stories or evidence supporting those claims. I have a hard time believing them because I think Frost really wanted to win at Nebraska

Gus was just another O'Leary, but without the DEFENSE! Like George, Gus only wan't run-first QBs. The only time George won big at UCF (who'd won at Georgia Tech with a running QB) was when he was forced to use a PASSING QB after his running QB thought his receivers were all 20 feet taller. Similarly, Gus won only with Cam, the best running QB talent ever, and that was running behind a NFL-quality line! Frost returns with the biggest flood ever in the Transfer Portal and the Prestige of a Power 4 conference as well. Even though he's been out of the college world for 2-3 yrs, he can get advice from new staffers he can trust, and lots of future teammates from Florida to attract them, network with, and bond with them instantly. Nebraska was also a positive learning experience coaching against the top state university programs in the nation (the B1G).

What I saw on tv was a stadium with 5000 people in it. That does not scream of enthusiasm. There is still work to do in that aspect.

I am not a UCF fan. I want the knights to be better so that the conference is better. I am not convinced Frost will make the Knights better.

Thing is there are UCF fans and there are UCF donors. Donors know the culture and evaluation and management of talent is critical to the long term success of a program. Frost said it himself in so many words, UCF plans to develop players and pay for performance. He has an eye to talent. Many of his recruits were overlooked and now playing in the NFL. Florida is full of them. Texas is full of them. The next two years is about fixing the mess Gus left. How many wins? Only fans care. Frost is a better coach today than he was the first two years at UCF. Time will show it.

Nebraska was Nebraska so as far as I’m concerned Nebraska tenure is a non factor for football. (I can’t say what I REALLY mean on this public forum but if you know what I mean you know what I mean). What’s more important is his current headspace and self reflection. I’m in!!!!! UCF will be fine with him leading. He needs support and the RIGHT voices in his ear. In Florida he will get that. Half the teams of any conference suck each year. With your 2 easy non conference games winning 6 games every year should be a minimum unless you’re playing with all underclassmen

Coaching is about culture. Frost builds culture, malzahn is too ego centric to build those cultures. Frost will get more out of the talent on the current roster and have an overall better scheme

They can do both 6-6 and 7-5 if they win the Bowl Game That would be a good first season

He already said he is building this for long term sustained success not sacrificing that for immediate success. Year two might be a bowl. Year one is not. Year 4+ will be contenders moving forward. To say less than 7-5 is your expectation is fucking wild. Do you want one or two good years and then constantly Flipping a roster every few years and being mid? Or do you want long term 9+ win seasons

Bowl eligible should be the goal for year one. There's too much change in chaos to wrangle in the next 365 days.

UCF has an institution has to decide do they want to build a championship organization or are happy being a mid level program. Someone being the college, the alumni and supporters in general are going to need to come up with the money to get it to the next level. You build a big time program and people will come. You will have a tough time with NIL competing with the Alabama's, Georgia's and other programs that have a big war chest. I like NIL but would of liked to have seen it capped per player to level the playing field somewhat. I know that will be a very unpopular statement, but it is what it is.

Great year for late freshman recruiting for Frost because schools are focusing more on transfers (seasoned and proven talent who can start immediately). So Scott should be able to grab up high school grads with the potential to get more playing time against talent from the top four conferences! Also, UCF alums are among the youngest out there plus so many stay in the state (one of the lower income states); so alums don't have anywhere near the discretionary wealth to throw away on their sports passion, unlike the oil money from alums of Texas Tech, Baylor, Texas Christian, Oklahoma State, Houston, Kansas, and K St. And BYU has very deep pocked alums nationally, too.

You don't even know who's playing and who the coordinators are. C'mon! Let's go thru the schedule. First 2 games wins unc tough game but we don't know who their coach will be. Baylor loss, BYU loss, Cincy win, kst loss and tt loss. Houston ok st wins KU and WV losses. So that's 5 7 unless you beat unc so that's satisfactory.

I hate to say it yall but 6-6 would be an achievement next year. 4-5 wins is actually the floor next year imo. Might be hard to hear but I’d accept that. I’d almost accept any record next year with a 7-5 goal for 2026 and be competitive for B12 championship in 2027. Most of our talent isn’t returning. Unless you had a coach that’ll raid the portal (I don’t think frost is that coach) I don’t think any coach will be able to pull out too many B12 wins. Especially since the culture will likely be tumoltuois next year as frost tries to root out those that don’t belong on the team.

We'll know a lot more very soon: ability to KEEP current regulars and last year's recruits from transferring, AND KEEP this years commits. And who he brings on as his assistant coaches! Unlike basketball, college football still requires lots of continuity, so expect his additional recruits to be very focused on skill players: magicians at QB who are PASSERS and run to escape blitzes or run-pass reads (not 15 carries per game and big arms but no touch), small, speedy scat backs who can also help flood the zone), and more agile offensive linemen, all Frost trademarks.
