Problem is when you try to start engine while on gear and it doesn´t start. It only starts on neutral. Also (depending on features of the bike) is not switching ride modes (Dyna, Road, Enduro, Rain) , it depends on this same switch. Either you buy a new part from BMW or you do this procedure. In my case it worked fine, I hope it also helps you. This is valid for a GS1200 LC 2014 but can be used...

Na minha RT às vezes funciona, outras não; tenho que experimentar esta solução. Além desse, tenho outro problema de vez em quando: o neutro não aparece no indicador e ela não pega se o indicador estiver em branco. Motas velhas… 😊 (Pena teres filmado à sombra a parte importante, mas acho que deu para perceber).

Tried it, not working unfortunately :( The bike is not starting in gear, the drive modes change, cruise control works. R1200GSA 2016 model, made at the end of 2015.
Do a continuity test with a multimeter, you might have a faulty switch. If so, I'm affraid you need a new switch from bmw. That switch unit is not possible to open and repair.
I tried again and it works now. Thanks for the tip! The new sensor would costs me 65€.

How long does this trick work for you all? I think I got two to three days and then I had to repeat the process. In the end replacement was the solution, but it irks me to pay this much for a couple of microswitches.

OK. I fixed It. Thanks much was easy to follow. One tip though, when it is fixed try to start the engine in gear, with no clutch. If it is possible to start the engine, it means you bended the metal too much, and you actually blocked the feature.

How is the clutch lever? And side-stand ? What model of BMW? I´ll be glad to help , share more details.
@@ppbb1970 2011 s1000 rr when I put it in gear it turn of by it self, could be for kick stand sensor ?
@@amiralisadraeenouri9630 yes, it looks like side-stand switch problem. Try wd40 contact cleaner if still not working by-pass it. Side stand location is very keen to get dirty by wheel spray.

Thank for sharing this video. When I bought my R1200RT LC 2 years ago I noticed that I have to put the bike in neutral before it would start. I was under the impression that this is how it should be on this model. Coincidentally I came across your video. Tried it right away and it worked! Thank you.

Does rolling start work guys? If there's a slight downhill, grab some speed and let the clutch go with 2nd gear? I'm thinking of buying one I found in good condition. Lots of extras including a 20lt Acerbis fuel tank, handguards, windscreen, comfortable seat, fog lights, etc
If the carburateour and spark work good it will start.I own a Xl 600 with 2 carburateors, only kickstart, start at first kick and the engine isn't in a good condition(burn oil).Rolling start works from 10 miles per hour or more.
Now I start it first kick always, after a good tuning of carburetor. Rolling start worked for me but only at some speed, I used a rope and pulled it from a car 😁, but be sure it is not tied to the motorcycle, just hold it at your hand and release it if you need. It was a good way to get it working to get it going till the motorcycle mechanic. I'll make a new video with the way it starts now. I am very happy with this bike and despite I own a few more other models, I love to get it off road every chance I have. I would like to have a larger tank though 👍
Now it starts first kick when hot or cold .For cold start I´m using full choke and it goes like this: ruclips.net/video/bvSFy3hDJkk/видео.html I keep it working a couple of minutes with choke and it´s good to go.
@@ppbb1970 it took you exactly 30" to start it. Imagine being on a trail, or having others waiting, or for any reason you need to start the bike quickly. No thanks.
@@lefterisbampaidis5446 what if electric starter fails, if battery dies, fuses blow... Each option has its pros and cons, l would be happy with an electric starter but this video was just to show that there is no drama in kicking it. I also had a wr450f with both options and I always liked to kick it. For off-road, the simpler and lighter the better. 👍
OK I thought I was the only one. Bought mine in august 2020, because my klx650r might not be ready for the winter commute. Some days it's on first kick a couple of times I had to give up. I don't do that lightly. Once fully warmed up, once cold. I also wondered about the kick getting stuck at 9 o clock. see this is happening in this video too. That takes the energy out of me at the 10th failed kick, when I'm trying to find tdc and just f-n start it. I was thinking of the decomp or if there is a kick axle bushing that might be replaceable and need replaced. Bike feels tight and nice. Not a power house, but runs really nice. Been trying to find a paper shop manual, not yet. Found a decent operator manual in english. Also found a fake tt600r shop manual where everything in it relates to the electric start version.
Mine is now starting at first kick, a competent mechanic had it tuned right. It's all about carburetor and knowing your machine. When cold (next day) I just pull choke fully out, open gas, give two fake strikes (just to get gas and oil), get the hard spot, go slowly a bit further, get all the way up and give a strong all the way kick AND voilà😃. When hot it might get a bit tricky. I don't open gas, just find the hard spot, go that little bit further slowly, get pedal all the way up and kick hard all the way down. My suggestion is make sure carburetor is tuned right, spark plug is good. I was very disappointed with this bike until it was properly tuned, now I go everywhere without problems. All I need to have with me is a spare spark plug and tool to replace it, just in case the hot start gets trickier. Don't give up on yours it is a very good and competent bike. ✌️
its all about carbureutor tune man.. i bought mine 2 years ago, its 1999 red one, at first i had kick back problems, it kicked back so bad, that i fked up my leg and broke bearing inside engine, now when carb is tuned i am starting and driving it with flip-flops, of course when you end up stuck while running over ditch, stall it, and its pain in ass, still managed it to start in ditch :D but in end of day its light weight enduro, I fkin love this bike.
Well I'm glad everywhere else in the world the TT600 is a C.NT to start. Been starting big bore 4Ts for years,there's generally a similar sequence and they will fire up. These fkng things...even when you thinkyouve found TDC then up and down an inch or 2. It still looks at you with a not even close dickhead look on its oversize heavy piece of shit look on its face. Don't stall them is all I can say. Yep I'm going to say it. This is one big bore that needs a electric start or just a kick to make you feel better Regards Pissed off owner of 01.tt600r.
I did feel like that for some time but once I got the right tune to carburetor it works fine. But it is not always the same way, if it is hot it gets trickier.
@@ppbb1970 Sorry bought the rant. My bike is exactly the same as this one. Colour as Well. Your right it probably needs a mechanic to look over mine. It's the De comp cable a n d its actuation I'm baffled with I really don't know if it's set up right. The motor when it starts runs very smooth no noises to suggest anything wrong with it. I bought it as a bit of a project bike.
