Series 4 Finalists: Lots of Good with Two Issues (Bricklink Designer Program)

This is a list of what I think are the top ten LEGO sets of 2023. These are my favorite sets, so of course there is bias in these rankings and not everyone has to agree with them. If you have your own list feel free to leave it in the comments! I prioritize cost and space requirements highly which is why you won't see many huge sets on this list, even if they are amazing.

When I eventually expand my city enuff to have a “shore town”, I would love that boat house, not to use as boat, but I could see it as like a “tourist” seashore air bnb, where it’s on the street by beach, n the boat is more a “prop”
Though I love the idea of a pirate island... I just would like if lego could do some unique prints for minis. Strangely I like the mushroom house the most, but that train is pretty cool and will display nicely for some but not for me. I actually like the little western town and train perhaps the most.

Why do they only pick sets that are trains, medieval, and modular sets.....
I agree with Trains and Medieval... but where do you see a modular??
Check Series 1 , 2 and 3. Having said that, the Parisian Street did not sell that well.
I guess it’s partially just because it’s what the fans want, I kind of see that as LEGO themselves taking care of many other types of sets and adult fans being particularly enamored by trains, medieval sets, and city builders. I do share some of your frustration about this though!

Great analysis and content! I love hearing opinions and analysis on these sets to help me decide if I should buy them. You definitely go in depth and call out things I haven’t noticed. Great work. I’d love to get them all but have to narrow down to save my wallet. Def getting the train and riverside scholars. Will wait on pricing to decide on the other three.

You could probably build something very similar with the parts from the Lion's Knight Castle.

Are these official Lego set?
Yes! They are made and distributed by LEGO (LEGO owns Bricklink) using all new pieces. They will also have product numbers and when you try to buy them you are redirected to buy them through the LEGO website (and you get Insiders points for them!)

@@rbyee7571 They will be built by a fan designer (and unlike LEGO ideas they will not be redesigned by an official LEGO designer). Tiago Catarino has a video about one of the sets from Series 1 where he talks about what the build was like: ruclips.net/video/e9gwj46pwJY/видео.htmlsi=GuEfH-Ono_a4fdem I think the box's in the past were just blank boxes with a sleeve over them, so I imagine that is what the box will be. Thank you! All of your designs look amazing, you have so much range with your builds! I would love a set that was just the engine and tender of your Stephenson's Rocket. I also really liked the Zero FS Cyberpunk Hypercar, there needs to be more cyberpunk sets from LEGO! I hope to one day design sets as well as you do.

Good luck with completing sets from bricklink parts but realistically speaking no way you can do it below 1.5x retail price of any given set. Bear in mind there will be more people to complete mountain fortress so the price of some bricks should jump up - you are right there is no unique parts but some of them are relatively rare :/
You are right, that is a good point. But at least 1.5x is better than what people are currently listing them for on ebay. Also at some point in the future the excitement will have died down a bit and then the piece prices would fall back to what they normally were (just for example I was able to find the parts for the Venetian houses for around $300). Ultimately I wish they would just remove the 30,000 set limit and let more people preorder them. Thank you for your comment!

If you're asking about youtube accounts that focus on it, one of my favorites to watch is Stud City ruclips.net/user/StudCity. For resellers on FB marketplace and Craigslist I don't have anyone specific, I just browse around.
