I really enjoyed watching this dance, it is a new one for me and I will be teaching it to my class. Well done all the dancers and great music.
Wonderful! Hope it goes well :D
This is very like contra dancing in the USA
Single tune is "Stool Of Repentance"by Neil Gow. 2nd Tune by Greame Mitchell(JvJudie),3th tune by Fergie, and last tune presumably by Max Houliston.
What a lovely dance. Many moons ago I went to Scottish Country Dance classes and remember it was such good fun!
@@janettesinclair6279 it really is 🥰💃💃
Coordinación, amabilidad, sana convivencia...iii
1 minute thirty - that's been me so often at ceilidhs! Grabbed and sorted out!
Изумительно!!!❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉Шотландские танцы-лучшие!!!❤
Gow's Stool of Repentance followed by a tune of Graeme Mitchell(JvJ)
Mount Stuart House......this tune for so LONG never played again. The same for the Dornoch Links.
Fabulous dancing. Makes me want to grab my grandson and dance too. Thank you for your lovely video. I'm in Fort Worth Texas. Blessings all around.
There must be a story behind that title!
Indeed there is: www.scottishcountrydanceoftheday.com/daysoftheyear/the-piper-and-the-penguin
Shands Gowan Hills as intro. And Frank Thomson Aberdeen, the heart of SDM.Hommage to Aberdeen Robbie, who passed away at 87 last year. Not having got over it to lose my greatest friend.And..I NEVER will!
Maybe on of my shortcomings...I mean ...I always skip Slow Air Strathspeys. From beginn 50s I was an avid listener and player of SDM.But later,I came to prefer today's Ceilidh and their manner of playing (referring to the bands of Alasdair McCuish,Tom Orr,Gordon Shand,David Kennedy,Craig Paton and more.
Как здорово у них получается 👍🏼
Willafjord is the name of the tune.(stems from Greenland ??)
Andrew Rankine's "The Weaver And His WIfe!! He wrote great tunes often being played, except for one tune,a favourite for me, called "Let The Hackles Rise".
Scottish people don't dance like that they get drunk and hurl each other around in a test of endurance .
My goodness, Well done Leonard you are quite the professional
Great band.Remember the last tune's name....The Clumsy Lover. Please, more of this!
О,эти шотландские танцы❤!! На любой аозраст❤❤❤!!!!!
A very good SDB !!!!
Gordon Shand!
@@ScottishCountryDancing Well, then I think it's still from Gordon's period, with Edward Galley on 2nd box and Tom Hamilton on fiddle. Both later replaced by Jim Lindsay (2nd box)and Alison Smith on fiddle. Alison previously played in the Alasdair MacCuish Band.and in the Craig McCallum Band.
So talented all of them - My go to videos when i need cheering up
Aww that’s lovely
Great tunes.Among them Peter Woods "The Inside Out Fish Eater"
Can you tell me which CD this music is from so I can buy this for my Dance Group? Thanks.
Hi there the tune is called The White Cockade, by Jim Lindsay. The Reel of The Puffins CD.
Good band. They played a tune by Addie Harper SNR of the Wick Band
Great playing.Pity, that the recording ends during Dave Richardson's MacArthur Road. One of the best later compositions in the scene.
If I danced that strathspey I would get lost or get mixed up
@@forbeswatson I always get lost the first time through 😂
I love all the dances and tunes but this is my overall favourite
Great playing and so many tunes!
This is sweet
Another great video - The lass with the pony tail in the blue jumper - Is she the ring leader ?
Intro tune is Gowan Hills by Shand.
0:13 is when it starts (for taking notes)
I can trim it if it’s better
@@ScottishCountryDancingno no it’s fine
That was odd, but strangely compelling.
@@PBPJWD LOL 😂
Very nice!
Eddie West was a very keen dancer and devisor. He danced at Kamo club for many years.
So talented all of them - and giving us a lot of pleasure allowing us to view
Lots of fun to practice 🎉
Great to see Kamo Karasol being enjoyed. Kamo is our club in Whangarei NZ and written by Eddie West.
So is that one of your members/teachers who devised the dance? 🎉
Exactly one year back Aberdeen Robbie passed away.Great loss for me and so many others, for we were acquainted.Have got 100s of tapes of Take The Floor.
Intro tune Gow's Bob Sanders.
Good finishing mit Rankine's "The weaver And His Wife".
Frank Thomson...if I remember correctly....an Aberdeen Band just like Graham Geddes.Wonderful playing.
Traditionally this is a dance for Men only. It was invented by prisoners of War during WW2. The 51st Highland Division was left behind to cover the Allied evacuation at Dunkirk in 1940 and most of it was captured by Rommel's Panzer corps. The dance was performed to relieve boredom in the POW camps 's
@@jimpomac thanks for the history, I had heard a bit of that 👍🏼
Very nice dance, great dancers and music. Thank you, nice start to my day. Name of the dance ?
It's actually called 'Rafford Country Dancers' and was written by the class teacher Christine Grant.
@@ScottishCountryDancingThank you very much, it really is a very nice dance. I teach a group of Scottish Country Dancers in Mount Forest, Ontario Canada. I came from Edinburgh about twenty five years ago. Best wishes to the Rafford dancers.
@@elizabethghent194 Best wishes to all you dancers in Ontario! :D
Love this ,And a great way to stay fit
It really is!
This is endearing. I would like to learn it with my grandchildren. But would I need to make kilts for the boys?
Kilts are not compulsory, especially not in classes which are normally casual attire 😊
