    I think you should watch the front room then at least Joker 2 is a 4 maybe a 3/10 I saw it in imax and haven't seen the first one I should put that in my bucket list now. But in imax it has good long shots of gotham, the sets were cool but with the singing parts it was just window dressing for them Joaquin tries but I guess the script hates him being Joker so they pull and tone him back and make you feel bad for him instead. and him and Mr puddles scene was interesting but just all the dam singing and dancing was too much holy moly I was cringing and saying to myself just please shut up during them and it comes randomly too but 2/10 I think the front room deserves that score Joker 2 should get a little higher then that. And I don't care for Lady gaga anybody else can fill that role that is a better actress and not just a singer just to have them in a DC movie that's a musical, and the ending is a real kick in the balls hopefully not another sequel if this is what we get.

    I'm just gonna say it, this movie was bad. It was EXTREMELY boring and predictable, it goes nowhere. The characters have no charisma or depth. The whole movie feels like a movie trailer. I couldn't recommend it to anybody, honestly just skip it, there are better movies to watch in october. The substance was AMAZING. If you're looking for something to check out for this month here are a few off the top of my head that are really fun watches that are overlooked. Mandy - Nothing like it, fever dream of a movie. 1408 - One of the few movies that genuinely gives me the creeps, top notch psychological horror, one of the best. Toxic Avenger 1-4 - The king of camp, inspired so many movies and characters lowkey. It somehow manages to be a feel good movie while being extremely grotesque and disturbing at the same time. Kind of like evil dead 2-3 in that respect. Troma movies are their own genre. Upstream Color - This is not exactly a horror, but I guess you could argue that it's a psychological horror mixed with a little body horror. Extremely bizarre, takes a few watches to really understand what's going on but that's the fun of it. Definitely disturbing. Annihilation - I don't know why critics didn't like this, it leans more towards science fiction but I never hear anybody recommend this one. It's a really fun movie.

    Good analysis! I just watched it, and even tho the movie does have great cinematography, performances and soundtrack, I was feeling quite bored at the end of it, just wanting it to be finished. I see people saying it may be the year's best movie, but I see it having some flaws that didn't sit well with me. I think it's a good movie but definitely not the greatest movie.

    Just felt like an old man rambling about all his philosophy, non of it coherent nor executed well. Applaud is effort and passion, but what really killed me was the OVERTELLING. if he toned down the elementary writing, and let his visuals do all the speaking, it would've been alright BUT when characters guide you through every scene with the worst dialogue ever, its infuriating. Still a fun experience for theater goers, but very sad to see such low level work come from a great man

    Sounds like it went over your head man. You've never let your living space get bad then realise how bad it's gotten later? That's two versions of you. The past version of you is Elizabeth (depressed, slob, doesn't care about keeping tidy and clean) and later on you see how dirty it all is and clean up; becoming Sue (or your ego/idealised self). Sue is shocked because it is trying to convey how we beat ourselves up. It's a movie about how we destroy ourselves with impossible standards perpetuated by society and our own mental issues. 2/10 review

    • @jacksonkruegermovies
      @jacksonkruegermovies 22 дня назад

      Sure, as I said it the review, I think from a thematic standpoint it works. My point was that I never understood why the character of Rebecca wanted the substance, so that part from a narrative standpoint didn’t work for me. (Even if I get and appreciate the metaphor). Sorry you didn’t like my review, but thanks for checking it out anyway!

      @@jacksonkruegermovies Sorry if I came across as rude. Just really enjoyed the movie

  • @jokebookrally
    @jokebookrally 22 дня назад

    Oh man i think you may be missing a lot of the thematic elements here. They do share a consciousness and operate in sort of the way we make bad decisions that future us has to suffer the consequences of. Like getting way too drunk at night and then having a terrible hangover in the morning. It’s self-sabotage, and we often think in terms of “future me is going to hate me for this”.

    • @jokebookrally
      @jokebookrally 22 дня назад

      She enables her bad behaviors by not identifying with whichever body she is not inhabiting even though deep down she is aware that all of this behavior is her own responsibility. “Remember you are one” is the recurring response anytime she calls the substance’s plug to complain about the other body’s behavior. In a lot of ways the movie is about becoming alienated from our own bodies and minds and falling down an abyss of self-loathing

    • @jokebookrally
      @jokebookrally 22 дня назад

      The idea of the substance being a drug helps this metaphor. Everyone loves being intoxicated but everyone hates having to clean up the messes we make in that state. As she devolves, the substance user becomes the dominant force and has to destroy the sober person who realizes that this addiction is killing them. Only one personality could ever survive but paradoxically neither one can exist without the other. Truly fascinating writing.

    • @jokebookrally
      @jokebookrally 22 дня назад

      I think the question of whether or not they are the same person is meant to be puzzling and ambiguous. It is repeated that they are one, but it almost seems that this may be more of a truth that is *convenient* to believe rather than true in an ultimate sense. I mean, how long would you truly stay the same person if you were swapping bodies and lifestyles so dramatically on a weekly basis? She is developing two distinct personalities, and merely shares consciousness, but a single consciousness is not necessarily tied to a single personality. Think about how people behave so differently when they are wearing costumes at a costume party. The shield between your true appearance and what people see enables a strange and alluring sense of liberation, and many people get sucked into that and behave in ways they never would if they weren’t in costume. You think differently, more id, less superego. Then the day after, you have to deal with whatever consequences your behavior earned you. With this comes a strange sense of alienation as you realize you really were not yourself that night, but what does it mean to have not been yourself when yourself is the only thing *you* can technically be?

    You should watch the director’s commentary on the character’s motivation. It highlights the desperation and cruelty many women feel about their physical appearance throughout their lives. The violence she inflicts on herself is far more brutal than any external force, symbolizing the internal abuse women often subject themselves to. When the parts of her that she loves and hates split, it represents the profound internal conflict many women experience, especially when she violently kills the “old her.”

    • @jacksonkruegermovies
      @jacksonkruegermovies 23 дня назад

      Interesting, do you know how I can find that? I’d love to check it out. But yeah I agree with everything you said. I think thematically the film works really well. But when watching it, I mostly found myself confused as to why the character of Rebecca wanted the substance, even though I liked the symbolism of it.
