he eats a seven to eight inch fish pretty much every day, when he catch bigger fish a couple of days between, i add fish once a week or so and have done so his entire life with me.

i cannot remember but probably about seven - eight years or so.

the fact he is the one and only goliath tigerfish in captivity which are truly happy and confident, also the fact that he is completely bonded with me just as my old rottweiler male i literally loved to death, i love this guy even more and he will remain my first priority the rest of my life as goliath tigers gets very old and grow their entire life and so do their teeth😁

no i let the fish do the trimming, and they love it.

haha actually my ex mother in law too not even kidding👍 living alone is the very best at least in my opinion, and im sure my fishy friends share my opinion.

fish are a lot smarter than we learned in school, that is for sure.

thanks man and highly appreciated, tank is 10w - 16f and ten inch deep - 3f ten inch tall, 4,5k. or 300w - 505d - 115t, 17k inside measurements. one 12 years old hoplias malabaricus and one 12 years old hydrolycus scomberoides, and of cause my other male goliath also 12 years old, i just ordered an aimara 2 weeks ago i also will keep for life pretty much as a beloved dog.

@chainsawtrout4342 Great fishes as a beginner I am thinking of getting snakeheads and then an alligator gar any recommendations for those?

@@-HAZZARD out of those i only kept parachanna obscura and channa micropeltes, i would recommend a parachanna obscura as they are easy to keep and pretty aggressive.

just under 20 pounds would be my guess. i got him exactly 8 years ago at 4 inch or 10 cm.

@@rasmusdufresne4934 yeah it definitely make sense, man if your tank just had been as deep as its wide and a bit taller too you could be in for a treat of a lifetime, as these creatures can get loyal as a dog when adult if given enough love and respect. maybe one day we can make that happen all the best⛓🪚🦈

the males are slenderer and gets some kind of a hunch back when mature, where the females have a more evenly rounded back all the way from head to tail and also grow faster but have smaller teeth than males.

only a 750 gallon 10w - 4,5d - 2,333t or 2,8k liter and 300w - 135d - 70tall, he getting a proper housing as soon as possible.

the day i decide my living room is not private no more, as the tanks are in my living room.

thanks and very much appreciated♥ no my friend did it in his spare time in the metal shop he works, he is an extremely skilled welder and metal worker, it took 4-5 years to complete as there no short cut in this build. from the first time i saw a picture of this almost unreal creature decades ago i was in instant love, and from then my highest priority in life become housing one at some point under proper conditions and become a true friend with this solotary living apex predator if possible, which it very much was as time has shown, i pretty much spending all my time with this guy and i amazed by his intelligence and loyalty towards me, and these creatures can become old as a human almost, so a long life friend who learn by the day and know his own worth, i am in awe and love these creatures beyond words.

he actually does catch and eat one now and then, but not easy apart from the gold fish which he have no interest in as they are way to soft and fatty for his taste, and unhealthy too and he knows.

a piranha would be a sitting duck against a big wild hunting goliath tigerfish i am pretty sure.

there are nothing as a happy and confident goliath, they are unreal sharp minded and know exactly what they worth, their teeth status are pretty much direct related with their confidence and mood, and their loyal as a dog when winning their trust but get a heck of a lot older, i love these creatures to death to say the least. awesome you have experience with these creatures as well, they are more than a hand full multiple tigers kept together, they would need serious space to do well, what happened to your single vittatus? thanks man and highly appreciated♥

agree and he will get it. they actually like lakes too, my experience is they prefer a slow to moderate flow where they can rest between their bursts, as a fact none of my tigers in more than 12 years had ever stood in or near the direct water out flow. thanks man♥
