Snap On FlankJaw/Talon Grip Pliers | Full Review (2024)
This is my full review of the Snap On FlankJaw/Talon Grip pliers which are a 3 in one pair of pliers consisting of their Flank Jaw technology with jaws that corner load fasteners instead of on the heads and wont damage bolts if they slip. Their main purpose is turning bolts on low torque applications. They also have Snap On's Talon Grip technology which is a diamond shape cut grip has unrivaled gripping power, more famously known in their needle nose talon grip pliers or Snap On TikTok pliers where people were using them to pinch the edges of pennies, nickles and some other coins and pick them up. They also have a hard shear cutter built in as they fall under the lineman's pliers category...

Instead of a traditional light tester, this has preset voltages marked ranging from 6V to 240V and works with DC ...

    I would love a lot of these but the problem is snap on has a patent on 3 position needle nose pliers and I ain't willing to drop $60 on a specialty pair of pliers. Why were they given a patent for something as simple as a 3 position plier? I have no clue and it seems excessively stupid on the patent offices part.

    • @ReadlineReady
      @ReadlineReady 10 дней назад

      The difference is that, though Channellock designed the slip joint 3 positioned plier initially. Snap ons design for the needle nose is actually their own. The design of snap ons as opposed to standard 3 position needle nose pliers is that on the 3rd position the jaws become horizontal to each other instead of slanting towards the tip. This helps a lot with holding onto things in certain cases.

    I bought the Snap-on HJ47ACF (8" pliers) and they are very good. I also have two snap-on locking flex head 3/8" ratchets (soft handle) and the CTR861AK2 (cordless 3/8" ratchet kit), PL400B (pliers set), 48oz dead blow hammer and 32oz ball peen hammer. All these snap-on (in my opinion) are top tier tools.

    Unfortunately when the pliers are on the ×4 position the handles are further appart. When they're further appart the rubber band applies more force due to it being stretched further and squeezing harder. Not sure how to accurately test those but that way can be a little deceiving I think. Good video to show the capabilities though, and I definitely think they grip much better! Im just being another annoying internet keyboard commando lol

      Hey! yeah the test isn't very accurate but I urge everyone to try em on the Snap-On truck before buying em. They really work well. I honestly wish they combo this high leverage tech with the Flank Jaw pliers as those things could do with more force on the jaws

    • @cblack1863
      @cblack1863 2 месяца назад

      @ReadlineReady Yeah, that would be handy! I usually use my Knipex Pliers Wrench when I wanna hold a nut or bolt without marring it, and I don't feel like grabbing the proper sized wrench. If you haven't tried the Pliers wrench, they're game changers. I carry the little 6" in my pocket. It applies much more force as well, and goes from 0 to over an inch. Nice for AN aluminum fittings and bending flat things too. I'll probly still grab a set of those Pliers though! Thanks

    • @ReadlineReady
      @ReadlineReady 2 месяца назад

      I have actually heard good things about those pliers, hoping to get one soon. I have the Duratech universal wrench which I carry around all the time, it can be used as a hammer too. But it's limited to what sizes you can fit. Its a closed adjustable so it does not slip at all though

      I don't make any higher than most Mechanics. I have an average salary but live in a terribly expensive city to live in. Here's how I save. I don't have doordash, I don't have uber eats, I don't have a car payment, got my car from a salvage auction. Don't eat out everyday, I don't have netflix or any other tv plan, don't have a impulse buying addiction other than the occasional cheap purchase, I buy clothes from discount shops. I am also single and stay away from relationships. You get the point. I don't blow my money on useless things so yeah, I can buy the occasional Snap On tool. But remember, I still have a majority of Amazon brands. I won't overpay for anything I can get cheaper. You can save money, it just takes sacrifice.

I always set it back down to 10 ft-lbs when I'm done with it. I also have an electronic digital torque adapter. The little brick that attaches between a driver head and socket. But I haven't used it in a while, basically forgot that I had it. I'll check the calibration of the two against each other next time I use 'em. 👍🏾
