Storm over Mt Whitney | Backpacking in the Sierras
It's amazing how much you can experience in one weekend with only an early start. I was always curious about hiking/camping Whitney in the winter but the addition of the storm made this so much more memorable.
Our adventure starts with two friends living on opposite ends of California deciding to meet in the middle in the town of lone pine. From Lone Pine, we made our way toward Whitney Portal where our hike would begin. We spent about 2 hours carrying our 35 pound packs up to Lone Pine Lake at around 9500 ft elevation. The wind had already started to pick up and we already knew the fun part was just beginning.
In no way did we go up there and just suffer/freeze. We were as prepared as po...

15 miles through the Trinity Alps
Просмотров 1534 года назад
The Trinity Alps Wilderness covers 517k acres making it the second-largest wilderness in California. The Alps are known for their scenic views/Alpine environments and high altitude lakes. The trail we took was to Canyon Creek Lakes which at the end of the day was close to 16 miles. There are two lakes that are separated by a small rock border each uniquely tucked into the alps. Unfortunately, C...
Life on the American River | Canon R6 Short Doc
Просмотров 1694 года назад
I have a ton of great memories growing up near the American River and felt like I owed my home a video given how often I'm walking around it. I filmed this using the Canon R6 and a DJI Mavic Air 2. The Canon EOS R6 has proved to be a great camera and video hybrid for me and never overheated like many other reviews mentioned. Three favorite things about the R6 1. Built-in Image stabilization 2. ...
Mt Rainier - Climb for Lebanon
Просмотров 1224 года назад
2 day ascent of Mt Rainier in late August. Our route took us from Paradise (parking lot) to Camp Muir where we stayed a night. A part of the trail passed by the skyline trail which was magnificent(in the clouds). After Camp Muir, we headed toward Ingraham flats and the disappointment cleaver but unfortunately, crevasses were extremely wide open and eventually had us make a turn. This climb was ...
DESOLATION WILDERNESS 2020 | A sub-alpine California treasure - 4k HD

Desolation Wilderness covers over 60k acres in California right next to the Tahoe Basin. It's an incredible place to go hiking/backpacking right next to some of its famous lakes which include lake Aloha, Dicks lake, lake Fontanelles, and many more. We started our hike near the emerald bay at Bayview Campground and followed the trailhead all the way to Dicks Pass. We got the opportunity to strol...
Mount Conness - Scenic Yosemite Backcountry Mountains, Sierra Nevada
Просмотров 5874 года назад
Mount Conness is a 12.5k ft peak in the Sierra Nevada on the border of the Inyo National Forest and Yosemite. The trail to the peak includes a pass by of the Hall Natural Area (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hall_Natural_Area) which is an incredible meadow area that was used as a biological research station. We did not make it all the way to the summit as we veered off track toward the end but we were v...

There is so much to love about climbing Mt Shasta. Whether it's spending the night camping and waking up to a billion stars or simply the pure joy you get from being able to climb this massive yet magnificent mountain. It's really an unforgettable experience each time. On this climb, we started from Camp (Lake Helen) by 1:30am and summitted just past sunrise around 630am. It took us roughly 4 h...
Yosemite Valley - Hiking to Glacier Point and the Panorama Trail, Part 1
Просмотров 2044 года назад
After a much-needed break from visitors due to COVID, we got a chance to see Yosemite in its opening weekend after the long break. We hopped on the four mile trail to Glacier Point and kept walking along the valley to the Panorama trail which connected back to the valley floor. We hiked around 14 miles and it was epic! Enjoy and sub if you want!
Climbing Matterhorn Peak, Sierra Nevada, CA - Mountains to Climb in California

If done in a single day, the Matterhorn peak in California's Sierra Nevada Range can be long and brutal, but absolutely beautiful at the same time. You can expect to boulder for stretches of miles which can challenge your stamina and experience beyond its limits. We had done the hike in the first week of June 2020 yet there was still a good bit of snow toward the top. Our advice for the first-t...

Highlights from our day up in the High Sierra hiking up the Rocky Mountain Canyon trail up to Pyramid Peak. We woke up around 4am to drive up to the Sierras and make this happen. The Rubicon Trail - Emerald Bay to DL Bliss (South Lake Tahoe)
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.4 года назад
The Rubicon Hiking Trail in Lake Tahoe is a classic day trip that you can start from Emerald Bay and hike along the coast to DL Bliss State Park. We got really lucky since Tahoe was, for the most part, empty due to the Pandemic and gave us a more natural visit. The trail itself is 16 miles out and back but we stopped around 2 miles from the end to jump in the water and get some drone shots. Che...
Feather Falls Hike - California's highest waterfalls

Day trip and hike to Feather Falls in Northern California. We took some drone shots at the top and enjoyed a pretty relaxed day out seeing the towering norcal waterfall. Reminded us of Yosemite given the height of the waterfalls and backdrop.
A Tribute to the Mountains (Short Film)

A giant shoutout to that glorious feeling found in the mountains, Freedom *eagle noise*. Enjoy my take at storytelling and our day in the hills to expand the quarantine world and maybe one day get out there more. Though this trail wasn't as grueling or tough as some of the others we've been on, I still think there's something to gain out of each one of these trips. If you enjoyed this, please h...
The mountain of wine country

It can be difficult to find a decent secluded hike being in a global pandemic. I stumbled upon the hike of Mt St Helena on all trails and it looked perfect and all but I had just one doubt. The site pointed out that the hike had a 2,000 ft incline gain and was located near Santa Rosa. Growing up there for a part of my childhood, I never remembered coming across a mountain that big! We were surp...
Spring in Havasupai Falls - the BEST time to visit

The name Havasupai means "people of the blue-green waters" due to the region's rich sources of magnesium and calcium which makes its way into underground water sources. The video highlights our trip to Havasupai in early March of 2020 where conditions were moderate and made the entire experience enjoyable. The daily high's were around 80F and lows at night reached 38F. In this video: - Trail to...

Leave the drone at home
Drones are prohibited in wilderness areas. Leave it at home.
Dude did you guys wear crampons or micro spikes when it was snowy and icy?
Beautiful opening converging view of the the East Side meadow valley approach to Conness! Really caught my eye giving me memories. You guys did some great scouting. Me and my guys had done the same. Took us to attempt #3 before summiting Conness. Since 1st Summit I had done it yet a second time. The secret is to when you get to the group of little water falls; head up straight staying on the right of the water straight up to Alpine Lake. I call this Wall#1. Then from ALake begin Wall #2 to the Snow Bowl. (I think that's where your opening view shot was) After Wall #2 when you're at the saddle looking down (north) to The Conness Glaciers and North Peak you look straight up to begin Wall #3. After rising Wall # 3 you are rewarded with a beautiful view of The Monolith of Majesty: Conness. It's a quick scramble to top this Monolith, more scary than technical. You we're almost there! You can do it on try #2 instead of #3 as we did! Check out out episodes: Conness Scout II: ruclips.net/video/qMRNX-kIp6c/видео.html Summiting Conness: ruclips.net/video/BSVUnPSUeYU/видео.html Conness Summit II: ruclips.net/video/Hy-GfJwsJSs/видео.html Cheers!! You captured some great views!! James
The images you captured are quite beautiful. I’ll be doing a 3 day backpacking trip in desolation wilderness. Looking forward to bagging Dicks Peak.
Which trail/path did you take? I am going next June and want to take the same
Thank you for sharing your experience. I will be climbing Matterhorn Peak Memorial Day weekend, and it's nice to have a preview of what's to come.
Nice trip and nice shots ! What drone are you using ? thx
Not sure if I missed it - how long did this take you and what time did you start?
Did u guys park at Pyramid Creek trailhead?
they parked on the right side (if going toward Tahoe) of hwy50, small spot for 5-6 cars under the big road sign, its about 3/4mile before Horsetail Fall Trailhead parking lot on the left. and the Piramid Peak Trailhead starts about 300ft further their parking spot - on the left side of hwy50 , not well marked. the best is to use AllTrails app: it shows u exact where to park and where the actual trail is going. looks like they kinda took the wrong start but found it later.
Excellent video I'm thinking of doing the winter mountaineering course with International Alpine Guides great information thank you
1. Big Mistake to proceed without eyewear. You could have required rescue. This is no BS... 2. "To Boulder" does not mean what you think it does. You were simply hiking on loose scree and talus. 3. No summit shot = ??? Other than that, nice quality photography.
You are absolutely correct John, and unforuttnately we couldn't make it past the last stretch of snow as it got slippery. We were about 100m from the summit.
@@ckonda Bummer, but close enough! GJ.
Coming from someone who hasn’t done this peak yet, thank you for the realistic advice you give in the video.
Looking back, this was still one of the longest and most physically grueling day but so worth it
Very nice brother especially at 04:54 that one is awesome👌👌
Thanks! yep that was an awesome moment
Great video. Canyon Creek is an awesome place. I have subbed. I also have a hiking channel, if you could check it out. Thanks.
I climbed Matterhorn Peak back in 1980. A day trip from Bridgeport with local boyscouts. I remember having to cross snowfields having only shovels and ropes. No crampons.. But we made it! Living in Bridgeport at the time helped. I was a wilderness ranger for this area in 1983 and summited other peaks in the area. Life was and still is good!
Love to hear that. The peak is challenging but worth every moment of headache, stumbles and fatigue. Thanks for stopping by
Beautiful vlog 👍

I really appreciate that. thank you and hope to see you back in future videos - Chatan
Another awesome video. I was planning to do the same hike. May I ask why you couldn't summit? Any advise if I attempt to summit via the same route?
Thanks! Loved this hike, the scenery and mountains surrounding the area are incredible. We couldn't summit as we took a different approach on the mountain (there are many) and it didn't lead us to the right point. We eventually got too deep in and decided to call it. My advice would be to follow the all trails route and climb on the back ridge to the summit(stay left). We went straight up the side face and turned right which made us stop.
@@ckonda Got it. Thanks a lot!
Beautiful video. Thanks for sharing.
Loving the curly hair and beautiful scenery
Thank you for the video. I love this place! I just made a video of this area! Thanks again for sharing! Amazing!
Sure! thanks for stopping by, will checkout your video once it premiers!
@@ckonda super nice of you! Thank you!
This is so sick!
Thanks Joey!
Awesome Pyramid Peak video. Love your shots and your hikes! We just climbed Pyramid Peak last July. Was it still this icy in June? New subbed here, let’s connect and share hikes here in YT. :) keep up the great hikes and adventures!
Thanks! This was hiked in late May and the snow was beginning to get soft so definitely not too icy. Thanks for the sub and look forward to sharing more here!
Best video yet
Thanks bud!
Bro keep up the positivity. Your optimism is very refreshing in a dark time!
Thank you so much Isaac. I appreciate that! I don’t plan to stop because this is what I love
Don't let the Democrats take you down.
love it!!
Amazing
Thanks broski
Did you get to the top? I was a the same spot, 200/300ft from summit when it got super soft.. just curious if you made it, thanks!
We didn’t unfortunately! It got a bit too slippery, felt like a bummer hiking all the way for that but still such an incredible place to be!
Looks amazing!
those views😍
So sick!
So you stay to the right then at the log bridge? I’m hiking that trail Saturday
Yea stay to the right of that log bridge. The trail will always be to the right of that river until a crossing later on
Stunning shots bro
Love it!! Which beach you thing is warmer ?
DL bliss beach is perfect! Worth the extra drive. There’s plenty of space to set up as well
Pretty cool, I am from Indonesia 👍
Thanks Ade, appreciate you swinging by. I'll be making a lot more content this summer. Having new viewers like you inspire me :)
hi which is better dl bliss to emerald bay or emerald bay to dl bliss? which one is less uphill I hope you could answer thank you
Hi silvered gamer! I’ve done both and the way from DL bliss to emerald bay is definitely more uphill. If you are looking for an easier hike, look to take the trail from emerald bay to DL bliss
You can start at the upper eagle point campground , the trail starts just inside
I haven’t hiked anything steeper than “ungraded.” This is a beautiful video and you have a great voice like OMG! You should do ASMR!
Thanks Test Tube! You inspire me to speak more in upcoming videos :)
Great narration
Thanks dude, got a mic now lol
Insane drone shots
Thanks bud <3
I guess that wasn't illegal in 2020?
