Irelands Highest Cave - DIARMUID AND GRAINNE’S
Просмотров 12 тыс.7 лет назад
Driving around the Gleniff Horseshoe in County Sligo, Ireland we decided to climb up to this cave. It was a tough climb to the top, definitely recommended it unless you have a fear of heights.

Would be an ideal spot for a Via Ferrata, but authorities and farmer would never allow it.
Hey love this! Do you still have the dvx100 and would you be willing to sell it?
What was the name of the band and the title of the upbeat song during the first minute?
Nice. Where can I find the short film featured in your avatar pic? I remember watching it years ~12yrs ago.
What the fuck was dat?
wow beauty. Can you share which presets for the camera did you use ? thank you
Was there yesterday and close to the top but it started to drizzle, so i made the decision to go down again... There will be another time!
wow
Be careful up there. Somebody died there recently (within the last 2 weeks) after falling off a Cliffe in the Gleniff horseshoe area - somewhere around the cave
Yeah. As far as I can tell from the information from the news articles, somehow they climbed above the cave and were on their way down when they got stuck. Lovely place, but very dangerous if you're not properly trained or equipped.
Is this color corrected at all?
There was no grading at all. The colors on the camera were pretty amazing.
Please think first before attempting a dangerous climb to a location such as this. Another fatality occurred on 1st July, 2021. This is the second death resulting from attempts to climb to Diarmuid and Gráinne’s cave. "Sligo Leitrim Mountain Rescue (SLMR) were called to the scene at 4.10pm to rescue the woman, who is a Spanish national, and to recover the body of the man. " Apparently, due to RUclips coverage of this location, there is an influx of inexperienced and over-adventurous climbers. This also places pressure on the time and resources of the emergency services. Full details are here: www.thejournal.ie/sligo-benbulbin-diarmuid-and-grainne-cave-gleniff-horseshoe-5483575-Jul2021/
This accident happened about 1km from where the cave is
👍👍👍
Oh wow was here recently, didn't go to cave , unfortunately no proper gear and farmer was about. Very cool
Did it last year savage place, great video love it
have one.... works for B role fantasy cutaways.... Not good with low light.
How is one lad climbing with fecking wellies. I couldn't climb it with runners on
I was born wearin wellies buddy, they rear us different in the wilds of Leitrim !!!
need a safety rope going down , cave big lights and rope , great video well done
Fantastic video,so many people have recently discovered Ballintrillick, Benwisken and Gleniff Horseshoe. I never really appreciated how beautiful the landscape in my homeplace is until I got older. Be careful not to go up there unless conditions are good and never bring a dog
never bring a dog ? how come ? I'm on my way there now with the missus and my dog.....
@@KennethKilleen266 how was it with the dog? seems pretty steep
@@MrBiggiefuckinsmalls yea it was actually grand, shes a jack russell, extremely muscley and fit with a low centre of gravity so she was not a bother going up or down, just kept her on the leash up and down yeno. yea it is pretty steep, id say 75-80° at some points, and two 90° inclines also butare both fairly small tbf. All in all, if your dog is small and fit i wouldnt go against it even in small rain, which there was on the way down. Great spot, and will do it again next year. We had lunch and wine in the cave also, ill never forget it.
@@KennethKilleen266 because you are walking through farm land and the dog might take off after sheep
@@jayuppercase3398 thats why i had the leash with me.
Love it
Sick
good work. beautiful shot.
Very difficult climb, and even harder descent. You need to be sure footed and have a head for heights - this is very Dangerous
hello great people from the internet, im looking for a simple but powerful camara to star doing outside footage, nice sound too, witch you can recommend. THANKS.
Ancient pen, what a find!
They need to turn that In to the National Muesuem of Ireland as all Archaelogical finds in Ireland are held in trust in there.
It looks so beautiful but to scary for me to climb alone:/
The picture looks kind of stretched. Is that caused by upscaling it to HD? Does the DVX100 have a 16:9 mode?
That was a problem with uploading 16:9 video to youtube ten years ago. I had to export the video with funky settings to get it to show as 16:9 back then. It looked normal when it was first uploaded it but for some reason now the video is now stretched. There is a 16:9 mode but it is just a crop on the 4:3 sensor, so you lose even more resolution.
nowareroom Thanks!
So that little tight tunnel you were at, you can drop down that hole and it opens into another cavern thing. Dunno if you knew that and just decided against or not but worth checking out if you're back again. It's maybe 7ft drop down but you can kinda climb it
Wow, 10 years ago video was really bad.
Iraq in Fragments comes to mind with this camera
Savage... Is it hard to find? Definitely hitting it up in the Summer!
HAVE THIS CAMERA FOR SALE, anyone looking for it ?
yes please
neighborino
video is deadly, I am not knocking the song but the video
What's the audio source?
9 years later and now your cell phone has better quality recording than this camera..
One thing a camera phone still can't doesn't generally have is proper optical zoom, and almost always have shallow depth of field. I have a Canon GL2 which I still shoot with from time to time.
What type of Pan/Tilt tripod do you recommend?
so u sshot in squeeeze mode. looks good. nice choices.
nice, ah austin and Donna, alrighty!!!
i tought this camera records in 4:3
not sure about the 100, but the 100B has "letter box" (16:9) option, and "squeeze"
at some point this was great footage. I have this camera in a box somewhere...3500down the tube...haha
The DVX100 was a legendary piece of prosumer kit for its time, and with some work you can still squeeze out images that can pass for modern DSLR. I just picked up a DVX100 with the Andromeda USB mod, which pulls image data directly from the sensor before being transcoded for standard definition. Picture data is output into 10 bit raw uncompressed at 4:4:4. The optics on this cam were unreal for their time, and this mod proves it.
rolling shutter
narcosis tv Effortlessly and easy to correct these days.
All you have to do is uprez with a click of a button in Instant HD. Also, HD cameras seem to render more noise in low light you have to be VERY CAREFUL. But this depends on the size sensor it has too. So it all depends. Everything isn't based off of aspect ratio, it's based off of video content ultimately.
i've been looking for a video camera that's under $500 and has a vintage feel. i also have a mackbook pro where i do all my editing on my movies. if i were to get this camera or the canon GL1,what do i have to do in order to transfer my footage from this camera to my computer and edit it on imovie?
get the sony cinealta f600
Yep
Yeah i still have this camera and i still really love the look of the images you can get out of it but there is a noticeable difference in quality between the DVX and a DSLR. When looking at the footage from this camera on a HD monitor the lower resolution is pretty obvious.
raw footage?
