NFL Films: The 2011 49ers Divisional Round
2013 Pro Bowl quarterback Alex Smith brings his 2-2 Chiefs into town this Sunday for a week 5 showdown with the 49ers. A true humble professional who represented the 49ers organization with class, humbleness, and unselfishness, while never seeking the spotlight. Here's a look back on one of the greatest moments in 49er history, thanks to #11.

Chris Webber tears ACL in 2003 NBA Playoffs
Просмотров 66 тыс.10 лет назад
The Sacramento Kings were the best team in the NBA for a second consecutive year and once again the favorites to win the NBA title in 2003, but a devistating knee injury to superstar Chris Webber ended Sacramento's title hopes. Webber was never the same after the injury, and neither were the Kings as a result. Sacramento Kings Dallas Mavericks Peja Stojakovic Vlade Divac Dirk Nowitzki Steve Nas...
I was there at the game The most incredible game I've ever seen live or ever.
SPURS FAN HERE - SO WE JUST IGNORE SPURS WON THE SEASON SERIES 3-1. I WENT TO A SPURS VS KINGS GAME THAT YEAR WHERE WEBBER WAS NEAR UNSTOPPABLE AND THE KINGS STILL LOST. THE GAME OF BASKETBALL AT THAT TIME WAS WON WITH DEFENSE NOT OFFENSE AND THREES. FOR AS GOOD AS THE KINGS WERE THAT YEAR, I DON'T SEE THEM WINNING A SEVEN GAME SERIES LEANING ON THEIR OFFENSE AGAINST A SPURS DEFENSE. JUST WANT TO ADD THAT BOBBY JACKSON WAS UNDERRATED AT THE TIME. DUDE COULD COME IN OFF THE BENCH AND PUT UP 20. KINGS WERE REALLY GOOD BUT THEY COULD NEVER REALLY GET OVER THE HUMP EVEN BEFORE 2003. TOO MUCH OFFENSE NOT ENOUGH DEFENSE.
I still cannot understand how he injured himself so much without much of a move. Anyone can explain?
is this 4 minute segment a part of a full 2011 season vid or somethin?
I was a big Kobe (not necessarily Lakers) fan at this time, and MAN did we need Donaghy to beat them that one time. I always thought this Sacramento team was gonna win at least one after that
It's more like the Pedowitz report. That report shut down Tim Donaghy's claims.
I have to say I’m 48 years old and this one of the best divisional playoff games that will go in the history books. I really enjoyed that game. Vernon Davis couldn’t catch a ball all day until that special moment.
Dude he caught 3 on that drive
@@kevlark3184 lol ok you’re but he actually had 7 catches for 180 yards and 2 touchdowns. Once again it was the one greatest and emotional playoff I enjoyed watching? He played his ass off. That final score 36-33.
Alex Smith would have won a super bowl if he remained the starter the next year
With Smith, the defense was enroute in being below 10 points per game. With Smith, it was the greatest defense in history. Then they went woke
Alex Smith's signature game as a 49er. Go 49ers!
Bibby threw up a lob but it wasn't 93 Webber wasn't dunking that ball.
They might as well of folded the Kings franchise right then…they were done
That 2011 season was magical
I was like 19 volunteering for security😂😂 on the filed! One of the best days of my life!!! 🙌🏼
One of the best days of my life too... that night wasn't bad either. Lol
Bill walton jinxing it LMAO
Thrown it down. Sacramento thrown down in G7 as turned out.
I was at this game
Wow
That was Alex Smith SuperBowl and he won it for us. I appreciate that man to the moon and back.
That game pretty much was the superbowl. The best offense vs best defense.
@@kevlark3184then they go and choke to Giants over punt returns lol
@lillagahnavich7700 special teams choked. Not mentioning any names. And the refs there robed the defense plenty. Alex Smith? 1 reception by a receiver yet 2 td passes. We'll who do you have to thank for that? They lost their best if not only receiver in week 5. Who was the qb? It wasn't Smith. Kaep is selfish and threw receivers at harms way. If Josh Morgan was in the post season then niners win superbowl easy.
Alex & Davis rocked that day
No it was just that final drive
Now Kevin Love does over and over again like Webber
Man it's kinda creepy to see his reaction. He looked so defeated, the second he touched the floor he _knew_
This was the end of C-Webb career as an all star. That micro fracture surgery finished him.
He lost all athleticism
He was still balling in Philly 🤷🏾♂️
@@thegoat6325 nah he was shooting terribly, especially for a big man
@@jamarreid1082 Yeah true that and his defense got a lot worse during that period.
Yessssir
Reminds of the Derrick Rose injury with the bulls in 2012. I am surprised this wasn’t talked about more. Sac was a championship contender just like the bulls were in 2012, and he was injured in a playoff which pretty much ended their run just the Rose injury derailed the bulls run in 2012. Changed both franchises. Sac’s run was a little longer, but it had the same impact Rose’s injury had here in Chicago. Devastating.
C Webb was a bitch ass nigga anyway. Dirk will always be better.
Does anyone know the name of the song playing when Alex Smith runs for the touchdown?
I knew Smith could run. How did I not expect that?
Hopefully they’ll host another playoff game this season. 10-1 seems likely that they will, but Seattle is not going anywhere.
Sound to me like Bill Walton was a damn jinx
Alex Smith did what no other QB in history could ever do. Even Brady or Montana. He played for the niners from 2005 till 2012 and still had a few games after that.
We need to bring this to Levi’s Stadium. I can’t wait to see the stadium erupt like that.
Fake the injury to stop the series. NBA players always fake injuries. the superstars always get hurt in big games. Didn't look like he hurt anything. Bad acting. And you can win without one player. I hate when one player goes down and all of a sudden they can't win. The Kings beat us without him later in the series so it wasn't like it was impossible.
Lee Jizzle, what are you talking about? The Kings were eliminated in game 7 of that series...
Still my favorite game of all time!
My favorite group of 49ers
“Got it”!!!! Great call!
My favorite Niners team. Only the refs can beat em.
And Kyle Williams 😭
@@jametowne naw. It was more the refs but Williams didn't help.
for any other fan who comes in these comments THIS is why they call us the faithful.
alex and vernon win super bowl for redskins. would be awesome story.
I teally wanted to to Alex and Andy win one together for KC. :( Now that he's gone... I'll crack up if KC has the same thing happen with Mahomes. Tear shit up for a season and shit the bed LOL. I'll never forget SF fans who told me Kap was gonna win more SB's than Montana LMFAO.
Man that was my favorite team back in the day...
The Kings were the third best team in the league, not the best. They won 59 games. The Spurs and Mavericks won 60.
brewer921 73-9 warriors lost to the cavs in the finals.... 03 Kings would've rolled pass the young spurs in the wcf
@@0kaznuan999 But the Warriors overcame 2016 with back-to-back titles over the Cavs in 2017 and 2018.
They were killing the Mavs in that series. Webber owned Dirk and Bibby always gave Nash the business. One regular season win doesn't mean shit when you're talking about a best of 7 head to head. And that Kings team dealt with a ton of injuries. They started off the season with suspensions to Christie and I believe Vlade from the fallout of the Fox/Christie preseason altercation. Bibby broke a bone in his hand and missed a month. Bobby Jackson got in a fight with Tmac and some guys left the bench earning more games missed due to suspension. Webber was battling knee issues all season. Bobby Jackson had a groin injury that cost him 10+gms. Hedo got hurt too. They finally got their top 8/9 guys healthy and were on a tear heading into the 03 playoffs
Lol the Kings would’ve lost to the San Antonio Spurs in the WCF because Duncan’s a better leader and clutch PF than Webber’s choking ass.
@@Theterminato2013 Bullshit. S.A. wouldn't be S.A. if it is wasn't for the Kings Demise.
Kings were cheated out of a title by jewish commisioner David Stern
Vicente Valtieri Let's not bring religion into this. Corruption is corruption, its not religion-specific.
Vicente Valtieri Nah, the Kings blew it.
Yep there were a few bad calls but not as badly officially as the 91' Championship that the Bulls got. So many missed calls.
@@drickett67 Are you forreal?! The Lakers got their asses whooped and gentlemen swepted by the Bulls. I’m a huge Lakers fan and no one was stopping MJ that year as he had the best season in his entire career, leadership wise.
I feel bad for him the minute he blows his knee everything changes for the team
yes i also knew they were the best team at that time. they were ready to take it to the next level they have the tools to compete with san antonio and they wouldve also swept new jersey but thats how it is.
Yup your right at the end of the day. 🤷🏻♂️
i hate that asshoooole chris webber
That was so sad....ugh...I still think they should have not traded him, because he was started to get his game back when Sac traded him. Though he wasn't the same he was still good, and the Kings might have still contended or won a championship even with CWebb not totally the same - but still good enough to contend...
He put some weight on though post injury, wasn't as agile anymore
@@Trinx323 Huge mistake. Webber should’ve done the same thing like Kobe Bryant, Shawn Michaels, and Tim Duncan did when they got older suffering from knee injuries by shedding some weight to take the pressure off his knees.
@@Theterminato2013 he was still balling tho in Philly and pistons
@@Its_Shaq His defense and athleticism got a lot worse during that time period tho.
whats the track at the end?
Hey Chris how is your knee bitch
You'r right about that . Niners fans are split. Some are true fans and some are whiners that they are. So true man.
and what were kaep's iconic moments besides getting intercepted by Richard Sherman and kneeling for the anthem? 9er fans are too fickle. last game I went too a special team guy goes down and whole stadium chants we want kaep, nevermind the guy that's hurt. I'm a 9er fan but I don't like most 9er fans
He set the single game rushing record in a professional football game when he dominated the Packers in the divisional playoff round. He also led the 49ers to a Super Bowl when the team was down 17 points on the road.
Paul C If you was a true 9er fan you would know Kaep's iconic moments as a 49er.
Didn't Kaep beat the Packers in their home field with like 10 degree weather in the playoffs? So you're questioning Harbaughz decision in choosing Kaep over Smith and the Chiefs trading up to get Mahomes in the 1st rd even though they have Alex?
@@eliasromero4607 Kaep was no Mahomes. Smith will always be a better choice over kaep. What has kaep done after 2013? Answer, take a knee. After he lost his job.
@@RM-qw2rwif you were a true niner fan, you would know they were better with Smith
Probably my favorite 49ers moment of all time.
Gold Blooded 808 one ☝️ of the best but we didn’t seal the deal against Elisha and the giants I would have to go with last super bowl win against chargers that I witnessed. Dwight Clark the Catch never surpassed as top niner moments! Niner Nation for Life!
I wonder what happen the following week? 😉lol
🤮
The refs killed em. Smith wasn't tanned enough
that was an awesome game...I can watch it over and over...BTW I'm a Die hard GIANTS FAN😎
I knew the Kings were the best team in 2003 they would have beat the Spurs in the West Finals an Won the championship against the Nets. God damn things happen that shouldn't. Although it would have been cool for them to face the Lakers again an beat them in the West Finals of 03.
how would they had beat San Antonio Duncan was MVP that year and he was in his prime Spurs had the Number one Defense that year so no the Kings would had not beat San Antonio
Franklin Clinton the key for the kings would have been transition baskets to out pace the Spurs the Kings had the best Offense indeed but if Robert Horry made that shot the Lakers might have beat the Spurs.
Dualis Ascental they would beat them i'm Lakers fan and know this
Hard to argue. both teams were great. Kings probably got better in 03 compare to 02 but the west got better in 03 that's why they didn't have as many wins. Mavs and spurs got better. In 02 it was just kings and Lakers. Spurs were the best team and got better in 03. Same with nets. Yet kings manage to beat nets in regular season twice. Kings also got Jim jackson that year along with Clark. It made them better. Don't forget Mavs took spurs to 6 and Dirk wasnt even healthy. Kings took Mavs to 7 without web. If they had web they would for sure beat Mavs and maybe had done just as much or more damage to spurs. The key to the success of the spurs was of course they had manu and Duncan was full healthy but to be honest the Lakers got allot worst. Shaq wasn't healthy and didn't get along with Kobe. Of course the spurs were the better team though it was just weird the nets took spurs to 6 and sure nets got bit better with motumbo and rj got better but the kings were slaughtering the nets in regular season
@@franklinclinton3207 They would have kicked the spurs ass
They would have won that year, the 02-03 team was actually better than the famed 01-02 squad. Not only did you still have webber, Vlade, peja, bibby, Christie, Hedo, Bjax, Pollard but they added Keon Clark and Jim Jackson as well and were mentally ready to go all the way after what they went through the previous year. If not for the terrible refs in 01-02 and the injury in 02-03 the Kings could/should have won back to back titles, and who knows after that 03-04 Kings were still damn good with Peja playing at an MVP level and adding Brad Miller. IMO they are the greatest team to not win a title and had all these things not happend they would have gone down as one of the greatest teams to ever play in the NBA. They beat the Shaq and Kobe Lakers in their prime.
+Kenzo Takeda Not the point. That's true, but the refs were all in for the Lakers and rigged the series, and you know it.
I'm not sure these Kings were better than the 2005-2007 Steve Nash led Suns. They had injury problems and bad luck too.
Arch Hades ayyy you a bball fan too? Anyway, good comparison of course. But the Kings did seem better, considering their fight on the '02 Lakers.
+btone31 But the Sacramento Kings blew it when they had to win one of the crucial games in the 2002 WCF series in Games 4, 6 and 7 and didn't do it.
btone31 it wasn't rigged
