1969 Ford Mid-Engine Boss 429 Mustang Ford built a single prototype in 1969 for a mid-engine version of the Boss 429 Mustang. Built by Ford’s Special Vehicles Unit (SVU) along with Detroit-area skunkworks, Kar Kraft. The project was designated as LID (Low Investment Drivetrain) Mustang. To reduce costs down they used as many off-the-shelf components as possible. To improve the poor 60/40 weight...

Snow Monkeys Of Japan Love Billy Gibbons!
Still a lot of speculation on what the new Camaro will be. EVs are not yet practical or popular with the majority of us. Will the new Camaros languish on car lots like the Mach-E?
Indeed!
I see you couldn't get a proper blower manifold for it. I wonder if any body makes parts for this motor anymore, like a stronger block, aluminum heads, etc.?
That is a great question! Cushman carries and sources parts for the 427 SOHC. Warning: they are not cheap! That is no surprise.
It could have worked if they taken the project more seriously and allocated more resources to it. By doing this on the cheap they took a nose heavy car and just turned it into a rear heavy car. I am also guessing the cars interior was turned into an oven.
I am with you for sure! It was more of a rear-engine than a mid-engine. The heat may have been why it had to have AC. Nice try, but no cigar!
When you put a big wing on a pos you get a pos with a big wing!😂
Love it or hate it, I like that the Ford Team is going back to Le Mans. I hope they win like they did with the GT back in the 60s. Go Mango ... I mean Blue!

@@WolfHeiau Yes 1st gen as well
I don't know who designed this prototype of this Trans Am but I could do a hell of a lot better job than that and give it a lot of power to put the dodge in it's place
Go for it! If GM likes your design they might use it. Who knows, maybe they will put you on their payroll. Now that would be fantastic!
I would definitely love you to do that. It looks ok. But need some help. I love what you said, to put a lot more hp and to put Dodge in it's place. 💯% agree That's what I would have done. I noticed that in these new Trans-Am's they always putting the same hp 500hp. Never 800,900 1,000, 1200,1300,1400,15,16,17,18,19,2,000 hp
And no paddle shifters, none in any of the car.
The only Pontiac might have Paddle shifters is the Pontiac wide body 1996 I believe.
@@conradtestamark212 I'll look that up okay
Super cool!

That is funny. A friend of mine calls Mopar “Nopower”. I have had them all and love them all.
Wrong tires he must be using the ky impregnated bf bullchitts
Good thing the Autocross at the Power Tour was just for the fun of it. I like BFG TA tires … on the street, not so much for racing. The TA makes a good choice for older cars. Plus the TA still comes in a 14” that many original old cars use. 15” used to be an upgrade. They do have an appropriate use.
Today’s GM isn’t worthy of producing a TransAm
@@kingjames1586 I have worked for corporations that went astray due to poor management. I hope GM can clean house before it is too late.
I saw the same thing happen at the Power Tour in 2006. Several Mustangs like this had the back end slide out repeatedly. Must be the nature of the beast.
Fast and Furious XL … I love it!
Don’t let Dom drive it. He will wreck it!
Awesome job on the soundtrack as always.. love that Charger
I want one! Mahalo!
I like that you wrote " What if' . These stories of late regarding the Firebird coming back are a pipe dream. Pontiac has been gone for some time. Since the Camaro has been axed again I don't believe GM would bring the Firebird back even with a new name. The Dodge Neon was also sold as a Plymouth Neon for 1 or 2 years but co-branding hasn't been common.
Maybe GM needs a shakeup in upper management?
@@WolfHeiau You probably have a very sound idea. I am 66 and through the decades I have seen auto manufacturers lose touch with Americans wants and needs over and over again. Niche vehicles such as Camaro , Firebird or Mustang aren't usually high volume profit makers. Having said that I do believe that there are occasions where a certain model does serve as a marketing tool to get customers in the dealership. In other words a customer walks in to a dealership to purchase say a Camaro and buys an Impala. The dealer still gets a sell. No Camaro ? Maybe a lost customer. In the end regarding the Firebird I don't see GM building a Camaro clone. However as you stated electric cars are fashionable these days and Ford has an ICE Mustang and an electric Mustang. So maybe the Camaro could come back electrified with a Pontiac design influence.
@@allanleeth2415 your sentiment harkens back to the slogan “win on Sunday, sell on Monday”. The good old days!
@@WolfHeiau 10 - 4 !
@@allanleeth2415 GM has said there is a completely new Camaro in the wings. The talk implies it will be a high powered EV. Can’t they see the Mach-e is languishing on car lots across the country? Here we go again, forcing what we don’t want upon us. Besides, EVs are not zero emissions vehicles. Plus the batteries are an ecological nightmare in production and disposal. In general we are not ready for EVs.
That is coolest charger I ever see shame dodge didn’t make a real version of this
Definitely! Sign me up!
Love the soundtrack! Sweet rides and aircraft
Mahalo bruddah!
I'm assuming the people saying they would rather have a full bed pick up are joking or dumb as rocks. This isn't a daily driver. It's a really well thought out beast now! If it's ever in IL, um, can I drive it?
I understand where they are coming from. It has lost it’s utilitarian nature. However, this is intended to be a rolling billboard for Arrington Performance. A very loud and eye-catching billboard indeed!
They do take Outrage on the road. We caught it at the Hotrod Power Tour. Ah hem, I get to drive it first!
@@WolfHeiau I looked that tour up. I think I have a friend who attends that. He has a few different classics from a resto-mod Model T (or maybe something from the '30s, I'm not really up on those real old ones), to a '56 Bel Air. I remember him explaining how massive it was, it has to be this.
@@Gcatt1 the Hotrod Power Tour has 6000 cars. We did day one at Beech Bend in Bowling Green. It was the best stop because they had both drag racing and autocross. It was only a few miles from the Corvette factory and Corvette Museum. They change the route every year. If you get the chance by all means go.
Sweet! Love American 💪🏼
It is #1
No distributor, no dice.
It would seem odd to climb into the cab to work on the front of the engine. Kind of reminiscent of the vans of the sixties.
@@WolfHeiau Whats really odd is europeans redesigning a epic american engine into a pos. You see the oil flow for the frikken push rods? Its about as stupid as a 6.7 oiling system.

Not something you would drive to the lumberyard. However, putting 60% of the weight on the rear wheels would make it go!
those whitewalls go great with the oldschool cammer it is just plain cool anyway you see it hear it or absorb it
@@goldflakechallenger it certainly is a multi-sensory experience!
not sure how GM will bring back old brand of cars of the past and who will carry them over since GM killed them in 2000!
GM could bring back Pontiac as a pure performance division. That would differentiate Pontiac. There are dealers that carry multiple GM divisions. I am sure these dealers could make room for Pontiac.
Sweet ride!
Mike did a stunning build on this!
It is fantastic for sure!
It's not a rumor. I saw the ad in my Car and Driver magazine. It is returning, I hope it's not electric.
I saw the ad too. There is a disclaimer at the bottom of the ad that states it is not real. So, which is real, the ad or the disclaimer? I would love to have the TA back, but if it is based on the same platform as a new version of the Camaro we may be disappointed. Keep your fingers crossed!
@@WolfHeiau why would a magazine waste valuable advertising space on a fake ad? I really believe its real. I've owned fourth gen Firebirds for over 20 years and would love to buy a new one.
@@michaelm3381 That is the big mystery behind the ad. Did GM run it to test the public interest? Did Car and Driver run it to bolster the declining magazine industry? Or is it a collaboration? Only time will tell. I am with you, I would love to have one, as long as it is not an EV.
Naive much? 😂
@@kingjames1586 sometimes it is blissful
This is really cool. But doesn't the motor in the back defeat the whole purpose of having a bed ? I'll stick with my LQ9 S10 pickup with a functional bed.
I bet your S10 "hauls" in more than one way! Outrage was designed to be a rolling billboard for Arrington Performance, but yours would be better at towing yachts!

That challenger sounded like a stock 5.7 in which it never stood a chance anyways.
Especially with an automatic. A Tremec does a better job of getting the power to the ground.
Different outcome if i got traction.
